Forrest Gump
“Forrest Gump” is a remarkable film that takes place in the 60’s in America, about Forrest, who with his low IQ everyone thinks he is stupid, but he shows us that he is not with the help of his mama. He teaches us “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get.” This movie will make you laugh, and cry. It is very inspirational, he was never afraid to hide who he was. He did everything from playing college football to starting a million-dollar company. Everyone should watch this film at least once, as it has everything.
Forrest Gump” has a lot of love in the film. Forrest’s mama loved him so much that she would do anything for him. The school wasn’t going to let him in because he was stupid, therefore they make you think his mama slept with the principal so he could get an education like every other child. Then there is Jenny the love of his life. He protected Jenny anyway he could even by kneeling in the field to pray, when her drunk father was looking to abuse her. She had a rough time finding her way throughout the movie, but Forrest was always there no matter what trouble she was getting into.
As a child Forrest wore braces on his legs and one day he and Jenny were walking and the bullies came to pick on him and run him over with their truck, but Jenny tells Forrest “Run Forrest Run” and he did till those braces broke right off. He outran the truck and decided to start running everywhere. Which is how he is becoming the star on his college football team and could attend college for free. Which was start of all his amazing accomplishments. (Finerman & Zemeckis, 1994)
In this film Forrest’s low IQ does not stop him from doing amazing things. While he is fighting in the Vietnam war he saved half his platoon by carrying them to safety and during all that he was shot in the buttocks and was awarded the purple star. He started the Bubba Gump Shrimp company, and made millions. He also ran across the country with followers who thought he was running for a cause, nonetheless he was just running because he felt like it. The writers just make him an amazing man.
