I figured being a furniture salesman would be a smooth, and easy job while I was studying for a degree in intelligence. I learned very quickly, that the area that I am currently in is not so friendly on the furniture market. People use furniture every day; when you wake up in your bed in the morning, sit at a table to have breakfast, or relax on the couch after a long day, it is scattered all over your house. In 2013, the furniture industry sold over $101 billion, making it one of the most popular, and best-selling commodities in the United States (U.S. Furniture Retail, n.d.). The market for this product can be a very interesting, and dependent market, especially in my area, Fort Myers, Florida (Southwest, Florida or SWFL). Supply and demand …show more content…
In 2015, Fort Myers was listed as one of the fastest growing areas for home value in the state of Florida, even beating out the Miami metro area (Merrill, 2015). As the area continues to improve and recover, so will the market for furniture. While supply will remain a constant, demand will rise, which will likely lead to the proper inflation of furniture pricing throughout the area. It may possibly have an even sharper incline than normal inflation, almost “snapping back” to the steady incline that it should have taken in recent years. The only foreseeable factor that could hurt this tremendous and rapid recovery is the value of the Canadian dollar. Canadians, like many Northerners and Midwesterners, make up a large portion of the migrant population of SWFL. With the recent decline in the value of the Canadian dollar, the exchange rate has become terrible for foreigners, making the quest for comfortable retirement living in Florida more difficult and daunting. This has added an extra layer of difficulty and complexity to what would be a very stable and growing market. It is very easy to see why Fort Myers, Florida has an entirely different market whenever it comes to furniture. The supply and demand are very different from other parts of the United States, its equilibrium price is different from that of most areas, and it does not always
Key West is many people's paradise. It has dazzling waters, beautiful beaches, and a wonderful climate. This tiny island is located off the southernmost part of Florida is the only true tropical island in the United States. Thousands of people from all over the world come to Key West every year for the relaxing lifestyle and rich culture. As well as being rich in culture it is rich in history too. Key West has also been the home to many great authors and artists and is known for having a very diverse population.
As previously stated the buyers in the furniture manufacturing industry are furniture retailers. Therefore they will require furniture to continue business. There are no substitutes that provide the same use as furniture. In relation to the furniture industry as a whole, there are still very little substitutes to furniture aside from a higher use of closet space or unorthodox measures by consumers. An example of this would be one's choice to live without furniture, which in most cases is very unlikely. Furniture has become a household necessity and consumers have little or no desire to change their lifestyles by eliminating that need. Therefore the threat of substitutes to the furniture manufacturing industry is very low to the point where it is almost non-existent.
Fort McAllister was a small earthen citadel positioned alongside Genesis Point and armed with numerous heavy cannon to defend the Great Ogeechee River method south of Savannah, Georgia. It turned into expanded again and again with the aid of adding more guns, traverses and bomb proofs. Obstructions and sooner or later torpedoes (mines)finished the riverine defenses.

Development of Fort Sumter was occurring when South Carolina withdrew from the Union on December 1860. At the time just two organizations of government troops watched the harbor.Robert Anderson instructed that these organizations were positioned at Fort Moultrie. Perceiving that Fort Moultrie was defenseless against an area attack, Anderson chose to surrender it for the all the more effectively faultless Fort Sumter on December 26, 1860. South Carolina volunteer army powers grabbed the city's different fortresses a short time later, leaving Fort Sumter as the solitary government station in Charleston. A standoff followed until January 9, 1861, when a boat called the Star of the West touched base in Charleston with more than 200 U.S. troops and supplies proposed
Fort Clatsop was the encampment of the Lewis and Clark Expedition (Corps of Discovery) in the Oregon Country. Located near the mouth of the Columbia River this site served as their camp from December 8, 1805 until their departure on March 23, 1806. Fort Clatsop is located along the Lewis and Clark River at the north end of the Clatsop Plains approximately 5 miles southwest of Astoria, the fort was the last encampment of the Corps of Discovery before embarking on their return trip east to St. Louis. Now the site is known as the Fort Clatsop National Memorial.
This case involves an investigation of the factors that affect the sale price of Oceanside condominium units. It represents an extension of an analysis of the same data by Herman Kelting (1979). Although condo sale prices have increased dramatically over the past 20 years, the relationship between these factors and sale price remain about the same. Consequently, the data provide valuable insight into today’s condominium sales market.
Drovers, people who herd large groups of cattle, heading up the Chisholm Trail toward the railroads the final stop for any last-minute supplies was Fort Worth, Texas. Beyond that you’d cross the Red River and into Indian Territory. During the years of 1866 and 1890, drovers herded over four million head of cattle through Fort Worth. The city soon became known as “Cowtown.” As the railroad arrived in 1876, Fort Worth developed into a shipping port for livestock, so the city built up the Union Stockyards. Despite the Union Stockyards lacking the essential funding to buy enough cattle to attract local ranchers, President Mike C. Hurley welcomed wealth Boston capitalist Greenleif Simpson into Fort Worth hoping he would find interest and invest
In Fort Myers, property damage was slight, limited mostly to scores of small boats and fishing smacks along the waterfront.[99] The Cuban schooner Isabel Alvado sank offshore Boca Grande. The crew, who were immigrants, were rescued by the Coast Guard and later deported.[100] In Martin County, a bridge connecting Stuart and Palm City was severely damaged and closed to traffic as a result. A temporary ferry service across the St. Lucie River was established and operated until repairs to the bridge were complete in the summer of 1929.[101] One fatality was reported in Stuart.[32] In the 1920s, there were plans to build a Hollywood-esqe city featuring a movie studio called Picture City. These plans were canceled following the 1928 hurricane and subsequent economic collapse.[102] In Fort Pierce, most of the impact was confined to the waterfront areas. A warehouse, fish houses, docks, and a bridge across the Indian River

Groundwater is the largest and most available usable source of drinking water in the state. There is a vast and mysterious system of caves and natural springs in North Central Florida. The cave system within the aquifer is one of the most amazing parts. The caves are remarkable in many ways. They are among the deepest and longest in the world, let alone the U.S. Another amazing aspect of the system is the purity of the water. The springs collectively produce billions of gallons of crystal clear water per day. The whole system stems from the Florida Aquifer that rests under the entire state. When most people think of Florida, they think of the weather and the beaches, but its the springs and the whole water

Two economic factors affect supply in a stable housing market, price of related goods or similar houses, and the price of the good, best represented by style or size in the case of the housing market. The affluence of a community typically determines how much homes sell for in those communities, and therefore communities where a lot of people want to live become areas where average home prices are high. (Kumar, 1) There is little space in these affluent communities, and therefore little supply. A good example is New York City, where no homes are available, only apartment buildings, and very few apartments are actively exchanged each year.
While disruption and innovation within traditional industries has drastically altered the underlying business environment, one industry has largely been left behind: furniture. The U.S. home furniture store industry is “extremely concentrated, with 50 of the largest U.S. stores accounting for 75 percent of the industry revenue.” Until recently, incumbent furniture retailers have managed to avoid disruption because of the complexity involved in the supply chain, scale advantages and unit economics of delivery that make it expensive for startups to compete. As a result, furniture shopping remains a cumbersome, impersonal and a “one size fits all” experience with consumers being exposed to delivery delays, retail markups and middlemen. However, Tylko aims to radically modernize key parts of the designer furniture industry from manufacturing, designing, customisability to the eventual delivery and effectively replace mass-produced furniture with “mass customized” furniture.
