Fortson, GA

Fortson, GA is a great place for families to move into. It is part of Columbus, the largest city in Georgia but it is next to Fort Benning. This brings a lot of opportunities to the locals and make for a vibrant, safe and progressive town. Fortson is surrounded by sprawling parks and is bordered by the Chattahoochee River.

Fortson has a number of attractions. Its star attractions include Lake Harding, Lake Oliver, Goat Rock lakes, and north highlands. You can take boat leisurely boat rides through the different lakes. The Chattahoochee River offers the longest whitewater rafting course in the area.

There is an intricate network of highways and state routes that enable residents to drive to nearby town and major cities. Fort Benning is a major employer in the area but there are other companies like Aflac, TSYS, Realtree and W.C Bradley Co. headquartered in Columbus. The METRA Transit system also runs through Fortson. Traffic is not an issue in Fortson, the town is small and not everyone drives their own cars to work. The commute time between Fortson and Columbus is less than 30 min.

Real estate

The housing stock is varied. There are split level homes and ranches that were built in the 60’s and give parts of the town an old world, small town feel. The stately older homes have made way for newer Mediterranean styled and ranch style houses with lots of garden space and tree-lined backyards.
