Saving Fossil Fuels; Alternative Energy Most people today use fossil fuels, but there is a problem that comes with using them. Soon, the world is going to run out of fossil fuels. The average person uses some type of fossil fuel every single day, and cannot imagine a world without them. Can you imagine a world with no gas, propane, or coal? Better yet, can you imagine the world without the machines, vehicles, and appliances that are powered by fossil fuels. Fossil fuel is not the only form of energy, though. There is also alternative energy. We must start using alternative energy. We must start using alternative energy, or we will deplete our fossil fuels. What is Alternative energy? Alternative energy is a term that refers to many different types of energy. These energies include hydrogen energy, bioenergy, geothermal energy, wind energy, solar energy, water energy, and nuclear energy (31). They are all different energies and produced in different ways. They all have one thing in common though; they all produce energy without using fossil fuels. (Schlager and Weisblatt, 33, volume 1) Hydrogen Energy One type of alternate energy is hydrogen energy. Hydrogen energy is energy produced by the burning of hydrogen. There is an obstacle when producing hydrogen energy though; in order to produce energy, the hydrogen must be in its pure form (138).
