Today when Miep came up to the Annex Mr. Van Daan took Mrs. Van Daan fur coat and told Miep to sell the coat and get money and get him more cigarettes and Mrs. Van Daan started to cry because Mr. Van Daan just sold her favorite fur coat. Anne and I(Peter) have been getting closer after all of this has happen, We have been talking about our problem and we have been this lately and one night when we were talking about our problems like normal and when she had to leave Anne and I kissed.Later that night Mrs. Frank threatens to throw Mr. Van Daan out because he was eating the bread and not the rats so they got into a big argument about the whole thing then Mr. Dussel started to count the potatoes left and margot started yelling at him for doing that, now there was two big arguments going on in the middle of the night. Kraler was in the hospital due to his ulcers so now we are worried about him because he helps out with the whole food situation. A few days after we found out that Mr. Kraler was in the hospital we hear sirens again but this time right next to the building and we heard the door opened so mr. Frank grab our bags and started to hang them out because he knew that we got caught by the nazi and when Mr.Frank got done handing out our bags we just sat there and waited for the nazi to come and get us. When they got to where we were we had only five minutes to pack our bag with only clothes. So we where being taken away and going to concentration camp and probably never seeing each other
Today I am going to speak to you about A Question of Authority- the Franks. The Franks played a major role in medieval Christianity and the transformation of the church. Firstly, I will discuss the history of the Frankish Empire. Secondly, I will examine how the Franks contributed to the medieval church and finally, I will discuss the impacts the franks made on modern day Christianity?
Looks good after merging slide 16 with 5, but I think we may need to update slide 5 with a) transaction fee we’re wanting to charge and the flow of heavy equipment for construction projects, b) Slide 19, can we identify high growth market instead of NE? Clarify just in 3-4 bullet point what we need from Unisys that include mobile/web application development support and obviously clean up
I am sure that everyone of you have heard about aliens and UFOs. Indeed, we all have heard about the famous case of aliens and UFOs in Roswell, New Mexico. Most people might be interested in the topic of aliens, but I know that the majority of you just think of it as rumours and the existence of them are impossible. Therefore, I am standing here in front all of you to make you change your perspective. I am strongly confident that I have found the evidence of their real existence to convince all of you.
For example, using a leftover coffee can for loose nails or screws, or even washing and reusing a plastic zip-loc bag instead of throwing it in the garbage. Thrift shopping is a way of reusing someone else’s unwanted goods. As I spoke about in an earlier speech about thrifting, I included many locations and ways to thrift, also the benefits to the shopper and the donator. One place in particular was shopping at the local boys and girls club. I personally shop there, keeping my eyes open for a good deal. For example, the pair of jeans that I am wearing today was purchased from this store just a few months ago. I paid only $8.00 for this pair of Lucky Jeans and according to buckle.com, a retailer for lucky jeans the retail price is $99.00 that is a savings to me of $91.00.I am not the type to worry about name brands, but quality usually does cost more. If I can get a quality pair of jeans at a fraction on the price, I am glad to shop at the thrift store. I am thankful to the person that made the donation of the lucky jeans and they can benefit from that donation. According to the IRS webpage, IRS. Gov it explains that an individual can donate items like clothing, household furniture and furnishings, a car or boat, even taxidermy. The donations are appraised, by the donator, and recorded. At the time of filing taxes if the donation equals at least $500 for the year, the donator may take advantage of the
The short speech written by William Safire is very effective in achieving its purpose. This article in not insipid, it captures the audience and allows them to feel the emotions of the people.“Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin...know that there is hope for mankind in their sacrifice.” Safire mentions the sacrifice those two men made and honors them for what they did for mankind. Not only are they credited for their accomplishments, but also honored and mourned. “...these men were the first[on the moon], and they will remain the foremost in our hearts.” These two astronauts started the space missions and they will forever be remembered for the world they opened. This speech is very effective in honoring, mourning, and congratulating the two astronauts who changed history.
Many people feel a bit sad after their big day is over. Honeymoons are what couples can look forward to curing their post-wedding blues. They are supposed to be a way to spend some time with your new spouse before having to return to the responsibilities of life. They should have a healthy mix of fun, relaxation, and intimacy. Here are some things you can do on your honeymoon to keep things fresh and romantic your entire trip.
The ones who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones that do it. Young man, Young woman, I say to you, my friend, you are a world changer, a difference maker, and a leader. Set the bar high, set it so high that your peers around you think that you will never succeed in your dreams, because I did it. Nobody thinks I could possibly manage change the world , nobody sees me being the next Billy Graham or Clayton Jennings. Everything is impossible until you prove it to be possible. After a hurricane a young boy was walking the beach and millions of these starfish are washed up on the shore, so he begins to pick them up one by one and throw them back into the sea. An old man nearby sees this boy, and asks “why are you doing this? There is no way you will ever be able to save all these starfish. Stop trying to do this it is pointless.” He ignores the man and continues to one by one throw them back into the sea. “Are you deaf!” the old man exclaimed. The boy then looked at him and threw one of the starfish into the sea and said, “ I made a difference to that one.” There are billions of people on the earth you might not be able to help all of them, but one by one you can change their world. So many people get caught up in impressing other and being popular, and this affect how they treat people, and how they treat themselves.
I never traveled on a flight before I boarded one for the USA. I used to ask everyone that did, what the experience was like. How it felt to be travelling through the clouds, how it felt to look down at the planet, tracts of lands, hills and mountains, forests and concrete. Many opined, it felt like travelling on a bus, hurtling down uneven roads. Some said, it was boring, more boring than it may seem or you may expect. You can’t move much, can’t take a walk if your knees ache. Sitting in the same position for long hours is never enjoyable, they said. Someone shared with me a more terrible fact—fluctuating air pressure may rupture one’s eardrums. So, I took unconfident steps onto the first aircraft of my life that took me to Doha, from where I boarded another flight to Boston. I tried to appear confident until I was asked to fasten the seatbelt. I looked around and tried to see how people did that but failed. I didn’t want to ask for my husband’s help—we were still new to each other and I had been consciously trying to maintain a confident and street-wise facade, which he later told me he never thought I was. My husband caught me struggling with the belt and waited for a few seconds just to make a how-can-one-be-so-stupid face while buckling up the seatbelt around my waist.
What could a 10 year old possibly be worrying about? When I was 10 years old, my largest and most terrifying concern was that I broke my yellow crayon and that I would be labeled as the girl who had to take the walk of shame to the back of classroom to get an old, used yellow crayon from the community set. What a concept? The extent of social pressure that was forced on me was my crayon credibility and even then my friends didn’t feel the need to shun me for my shameful misconduct. More and more often, children are expected to endure an unnatural process as early as fourth grade and extending beyond their college years. While it is not ideal and obviously detrimental to the development of children and their concepts of social acceptance, this concept is all but surprising just as is the result, but the epidemic is only worsened by the lack of understanding of the situation. For all we know, it might mean the death of a basic human desire. But, what is it that we have all overlooked or underestimated? What “concept” could possibly be our downfall. It is simple, yet influential. Increasing rare, yet less and less sought after. And in the end, it is a master of imitation, masked as other qualities that lead us astray, away from our goal, away from our happiness. It is what everyone wants and yet no one can identify as exactly what it is, genuine human connection.
In the United States of America, the Constitution has granted all its citizens the rights of speech, assembly, and suffrage. The entire nation was founded with the purpose of providing for a country in which principles of equality and liberty would be executed on a daily basis. However, what happens when there is an abandonment and obstruction of these basic rights? According to Biography.com, the Civil Rights Movement led the 54-mile Selma to Montgomery march in order to achieve African American suffrage. In Alabama, however, a group of white people confronted the protest, leading to a violent outcome in which the life of one individual was lost and countless others were injured. In his encouraging address We Shall Overcome, Lyndon Baines Johnson pleads the Congress to pass the civil rights bill in order to provide each and every American citizen with the same opportunity; in this specific case, African American citizens with the right to vote. In his 1965 speech, Lyndon Baines Johnson crafts a compelling argument by appealing to the audience’s pathos and ethos through the use of diction, highlighting the message communicated through the addition and elimination of conjunctions, and emphasizing the relevance of the circumstance through anaphoras.
When I was 14 years old, two of my best friends killed themselves. Its hard for me to say now. I've denied it even happening up until a year ago. I just can't think about how I lost them, it's just too hard.
I noticed this years ago when I was little, I noticed kids at school treating the dark girl in the corner differently and talking about her behind her back. I noticed my parents holding my hand a little tighter when a black man would walk by. The protestors are marching down the street in support of their loved one, not for attention of skin color. There are three types of people involved in the act, the peaceful, the violent, and the judgmental. I support the protesting. I support the friends and family members for trying to make a difference for the loved one they lost. I encourage them to speak out in a peaceful way. I encourage them, because that’s what I would do.
On November 29th 2016, I got the worst phone call anyone could ever have. I remember very vividly standing in the new gym of the Northeast Community School watching the varsity basketball game. I was in a very good mood as we had just won our game. My phone suddenly rang. It was a close friend. I answered in a cheery voice. When she said hi back, she was crying and very quiet. My heart sank.
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter” (“Martin Luther King Jr.”). The Black Lives Movement is an organization that campaigns against violence and systemic racism towards black people. Black Lives Matter is reminding people that racism still exist in our country and that police brutality isn’t right. In a protest I believe there ever shouldn’t be violence and that we should be heard. Protests don’t put police officers lives in danger. Unfortunately, the protesters are the ones to be put and snatched down to the floor. There should be a better way for the police to take care of situations like these because police should be protecting not hurting protesters.
One day, I was at school my mom came to pick me up from school early I thought I had a doctor appointment. We were walking out and my mom, she looks at me and I was like WHAT!!!!!!!! She like I got to tell you something, but you promise me that you won´t cry I was like I promise. We got into the car and my mom was like your dad got deported. I was speechless, shock and I started tearing up. The only thing that pops up in my head was about my brother and sister what are we going to do now? How are they going to take it when my mom tells them? We got home and I asked my mom when is she telling my brother and sister that my dad got deported, she like whenever we sit down and eat dinner. We sat down at the table to eat dinner and everything got quiet my mom was like Gabby and David I got something to tell y'all. My mom finally told my brother and sister they started tearing up and brother was like you are lying to me, I was like David we ain't lying we telling the truth and he went running to his room. That same day my mom had to go back to work and we couldn't stay alone at home, so we went to work with her. We had to stay there until 1 in the morning that's the time my mom got out of work.We had no support from my dad family the only support we had was my mom's brother Nando and one of my dad's family in Memphis. My mom's brother, he goes to work at 9 pm and gets out at 8 am and he came here to see us if everything okay. He would wash our clothes when my mom would be working.
