I believe that Theodore Roosevelt has had a significant impact on American society for multiple reasons. First, he saved the sport of football from being outlawed in the U.S. Second, he started the largest environmental conservation program which set aside thousands of acres of land that have now become hundreds of national parks including the Grand Canyon. Finally, he defended America during the Spanish American War.

This was brought about when the government of Venezuela stopped paying their debts to European bankers. As a result European naval forces formed a blockade around the Venezuelan coast and began to bombard their ports. Hoover preferred “rugged individualism,” and FDR preferred “helping hand” philosophies. Hoover believed in assisting business in hope that this support would create a trickle down impact which would lead to investment and more jobs. FDR, on the other hand, wanted to provide people with jobs to increase confidence and correcting failures in certain economic institutions, leading to a bubble up scenario. It is ironic that Hoover knew how it felt to suffer in poverty as a child, yet FDR better handled the job of reassuring citizens that he was the man to get the nation out of its slump.

In the time FDR was president there were many crises that threaten countries and people globally. While that was happening people became worried and were afraid to go into war to stop this problem. He created a radio talk show that always opened with my friends, and they believed him. He used the radio to communicate to the nation and to guarantee their safety. Roosevelt was very brave to be president when a lot people had no jobs and no money and those who didn’t use it in the right way. President McKinley was shot by a man named Leon Czolgosz. Maybe if McKinley wouldn’t have died from these wounds Roosevelt may never have become one of the best presidents in U.S. history.
