Sunday December 7, 1941 a day that will forever remain in history. The Japanese launched a surprise attack on the naval force located in Pearl Harbor. The Japanese were upset with the United States which led them to attack Pearl Harbor. This was one of the most important events that eventually led to World War two.The attack of Pearl Harbor was one of the most important events that changed U.S. forever. Franklin D. Roosevelt was the 32nd president of the United States who many admired. FDR led the United States through World War two and stood with the nation all throughout the war (history, Pearl Harbor). Roosevelt during this time period ordered restrictions on shipments of oil, metal, and fuel (McNeese, 102). Japan itself made very little oil, not enough for their country to live off of, so as soon as Japan finds out about this restriction on oil they want to take action. Not long from the restrictions the U.S. freezes all Japanese assets in the U.S. because Japan has taken over all of Indochina (Rice, 17). The Japanese couldn't have been more angry with the lost of their oil supplies, things got even worse when the U.S. froze all of Japan's assets in the U.S. Japan sees only two choices to remove troops from China like the U.S. would like them to or to stay at war with China and risk war with the U.S. (Rice,17). Japan of course takes the second option and plans the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. Japan was angry with the decisions the U.S. made that affected them causing them to attack Pearl …show more content…
The attack on Pearl Harbor killed two thousand three hundred and eighty eight and wounded about two thousand (Doerr, Pearl Harbor). In a short time period so many people were hurt and many were killed. About half of the deaths caused during this attack were deaths of those on the Arizona ship that was hit with a one thousand seven hundred and sixty pound bomb (World book, Arizona). The number of deaths in the attack was unbelievable and to think that half of those deaths were because of one ship that sunk. The attack sunk or damaged five battleships, three cruisers, three destroyers, thirteen fighters, twenty one scout bombers, forty six patrol planes any many more ships and planes (Streissguth, 40). About twenty one ships and more than three hundred planes were completely lost . The attack caused FDR to request a declaration of war which congress approved, creating the beginning of World War
Conspiracy says FDR allowed Pearl Harbor to get attacked. Did he really let Pearl Harbor get attacked, or did he not know at all? I do not think he really did. When he found out about the attack, he was really calm. He acted like he did not care. People believe FDR knew of the attack because the Americans had cracked the Japanese codes, warned of the attacks, and a general location they were going to attack.
The attack on Pearl Harbor was a tragic event which occurred on December 7, 1941. As some call it, this was the awakening of the sleeping giant. World War 2 had already started and the US had attempted to stay neutral but as Japan dropped bombs over the island of Oahu on the US naval base the US was sent straight into war. Japan was upset and angry and the US for the things they have been doing lately so they finally got tired of it and they dropped bombs on Pearl Harbor.
December 7th, 1941. This was the date of one of the most important attacks on the United States in the history of America. This was the date of the Japanese attack on the American naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The attack on the naval base at Pearl Harbor was the last straw that led to the United States joining World War II as part of the Allied Power. The bombing was in reaction to many economic sanctions that were placed on Japan, so the bombing was not just to make the United States mad. We can see many reasons as to why Japan would bomb Pearl Harbor.

The United States deciding to not allow the Japanese Immigrants into the U.S. made Japan furious, and that could be a reason why Japan chose to attack the United States. The U.S. decision to not allow Japanese Immigrants into the U.S. impacts the Japanese life significantly. The United States is the “Land of the Free” but in that time period they did not even allow Japanese Immigrants to live in the U.S. The United States also decided to not sell oil to Japan. The United States’ decision impacted Japan in multiple ways. As stated in the article “The United States”, Japan depends on oil from the United States. Japan depends on the United States oil so greatly that the Japanese would have to forfeit the war between China because of the lack of oil (“Road to Pearl Harbor”).
One day after the attack on Pearl Harbor Franklin D Roosevelt addressed Congress.Three days later,Germany and Italy,Japanese’s allies, declared war on the United States.
Pearl Harbor was the heart of the Pacific Naval Fleet, due to the Japanese that took Pearl Harbor by surprise resulting in devastation. When the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor it brought upon The United States entering World War 2. For months, the Japanese planned the attack on pearl harbor, gathering highly detailed information on everything they could. They gained information about the weak points of the Battleships, where they held their ammo cashes , the thickest parts of their armor, and the thinnest. They got exactly where they were going to be located. For months, they trained their already highly experienced pilots on the actions they were going to take and exactly
Many have researched that the U.S did provoke Japan into bombing Pearl Harbor. Japan had no intentions on declaring war on the United States. The majority of Americans, and even servicemen, were unaware of what was going on behind the scenes, but not all were. According to Robert Higgs, “Franklin D. Roosevelt was charged in engaging into war since 1939.” Without Franklin Roosevelt hostility towards the Japanese, Congress and the Americans would have never allowed him to declare war on Japan or Germany. When Franklin D. Roosevelt became president in 1933, the U.S. government fell under the control of a man who disliked the Japanese and had a long lasting relationship with the Chinese. Roosevelt also disliked the Germans, and tended to favor the British in his personal relation and world affairs. In anticipation of U.S. entering WWII, the British and U.S. military staffs secretly made

The attack on Pearl Harbor was a major turning point in World War II.
“Like a thunderbolt out of the blue”(Soga 1) used this quote to describe everything he was feeling. Many Japanese-Americans were punished for the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR), one of the president's known for getting us out of the Great Depression. FDR was one of the most courageous and perhaps even one of the most astute political leaders that America witnessed. Everyone is amazed by one’s accomplishments, by one’s success. But everything anyone does has a purpose. A purpose that can become good or evil, nobody knows until they’re educated. FDR was not only present for the Great Depression, but for the Japanese-American Internment Camps as well as the Second World War. America and Japan were in great tension anyone

On December 7, 1941, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor is located on the Hawaiian Island of Honolulu. More than 2,400 United States service personnel were killed. Fifteen U.S. ship were sunk and 188 U.S. air crafts were destroyed. “ The attack lasted 110 minutes, from 7:55 a.m. until 9:45 a.m.”, according to Pearl Harbor Facts - 20th Century History - About.com. On December 7, 1941, Pearl Harbor became the event that brought the United States into World War II. At 7:55 AM, the first Japanese wave arrived with four hundred eight warplanes, six aircraft carriers, and twenty warships. Unluckily, American fleets were delivering a fighter aircraft to Wake Island with aircraft carriers and a heavy cruiser, which left Pearl Harbor mostly unarmed (Laurie). Since the U.S. was unable to defend Pearl Harbor it forced the U.S. to contribute in World War II; “The Pearl Harbor attack so enraged the United States that American participation in the war until final victory was guaranteed” (Laurie). The attack on Pearl Harbor was and still is a tragic day

All but Arizona were later raised, and six were returned to service and went on to fight in the war. The Japanese also sank or damaged three cruisers, three destroyers, an anti-aircraft training ship, and one minelayer.
