One of his greatest feats of leadership was when he first became president he started a program called the New Deal were he totally reshaped the economic system in the United States eventually getting America out of the Great Depression. Franklin Roosevelt also joined forces with Britain and the Soviet Union to help stop the axis powers in World War Two. Despite the hardships of his presidency Roosevelt overcame them and became one of the most influential presidents in American history through the character traits of optimism, persistence, and leadership.

Franklin D. Roosevelt became the thirty-second president of the U.S. in 1933. He was one of the most skillful political leaders and it showed as he led the people out of the Great Depression. The U.S. was in a state of depression when Roosevelt took office, but through his New Deal program, the federal government became much more involved socially and economically in peoples' lives in contrast to its traditionally passive role. The government's responsibilities in peoples' lives changed and individuals' responsibilities changed too. The role of the government in peoples' lives expanded greatly during the New Deal era.

He was extremely effective in office due to several strong attributes he possessed. Franklin Roosevelt’s leadership skills guided the United States through two major events in the country’s history. He guided the country through the Great Depression in the 1930s and the majority of World War II. Franklin Roosevelt would have a major impact on the United States economy and people. Roosevelt would create plans and programs to get the country and its people back on track during hard times. The United States would become a global super power after World War II. The leadership skills that Roosevelt utilized allowed him to become one to the greatest presidents in history. Even through Roosevelt was one of the greatest Presidents, he still had his critics that questioned the outcomes of his plans when looking at the future of the United States.

This leader helped citizens of America feel safe and protected living in America. FDR was the thirty-first president of the United States of America. This president was the president longer than anyone else. Could you imagine being a kid in the 1940s? Sitting in your living room on a Sunday afternoon waiting by the radio to hear your favorite radio talk show host, but instead the President’s voice comes through the airways and announces a national state of emergency. How would you feel? How would you react? What would you do? As President Roosevelt delivered his speech he had two main points that he wanted to relay to the nation. The first point was to encourage Congress to formally declare war on Japan. Insisting that the attack was just a start to the many more to come. The second point was to gather the support of the American people; in the war efforts that he was proposing, President Franklin used major American cities such as San Francisco, Chicago, and New Orleans as examples to show the American people that if one United States territory could be attacked, so could their neighborhoods. Both points touched their intended audiences. Moments after the speech Congress approved the declaration of war on Japan. The news sent a shockwave across the country, resulting in a tremendous percentage of young volunteers into the U.S. recruiting offices across the nation.

He used all available powers to his advantage. As president, Roosevelt believed he had a unique relationship and duty to protect the people. Roosevelt had the peoples’ well- being always in mind when making executive decisions. He only had the desire to make society fairer and stable so every person had the capacity to advance economically. His policies did not only change the peoples’ relationship with the government, but Roosevelt help change the status of big businesses.

During this period, President Roosevelt endured extremely intense emotional pressure due to the loss of America’s prestige and pride in the Pacific. At the same time he was expected to honor the British who were struggling with Hitler. Notably, just before the Japanese Pearl Harbor attack had taken place, Roosevelt had agreed that the first priority should be a defeat of Nazi Germany. This should have been until America was able to recover from its Pearl Harbor naval forces and consequently mobilize for a two-front war. The decision made focused on accepting the Philippines loss, Guam and Wake and instead put plenty of concentration on a defensive kind of triangle that was inclusive of Panama, Alaska and Hawaii.

For years people have looked for something to symbolize safety, or look up to, and after searching, they finally found it on January 15, 1943 and that was the Pentagon. The reason is because the Pentagon was built to be the headquarters of the US Department of Defense which makes people feel safe. Therefore, on September 11, 200, the most mind blowing attack happened that hit the Pentagon and left many Americans in grief. This left many Americans puzzled because this couldn’t have been just an easy plan; it had to be well planned out. Therefore, we are going to explore the history of the building, also the history of the attack plan, deadly strike, rescuers, and how they were able to cope and push through this tragedy.

Operation Overload (D-Day) It was September 1, 1944 when most of the France was liberated. Operation Overload was the greatest invasion that happened in Europe in World War II. This Operation included marines and paratroopers which was a new type of warfare that people were fighting. Operation Overload will effect on Hitler’s attitude while he was sleeping, decisions made during the Teheran Conference, and the involvement of the French Resistance.
