“Freak the Mighty” After reading the book, and watching the movie, I really enjoyed both. Both, the book and the movie, included the scene in which Kevin and Max returned the purse to Loretta Lee. Returning the purse proved that Max was not like his dad, he had the heart of his mother. Another similarity was that when Max came home in the police car after saving Freak, Grim gave Max a cup of coffee because he believed that he was becoming an adult. The final similarity was the way that Max dealt with Freak’s death. His way of getting over the situation was writing in the empty book about Freak the Mighty’s adventures. Some differences are that in the movie Freak went after Killer Kane and Max himself, in the book he just told the police
Also, the novel and movie have other differences that were all very appealing. In the novel when Killer Kane kidnapped Max he brought him underneath the streetlight, while in the movie he didn’t. Also, in the novel Freak didn’t drive any vehicle, but in the movie he drove the van to rescue Max from Killer Kane. The best part of the story, though, is when they meet. In the novel they meet by living near each other since they were neighbors. In the movie they meet since Freak was Max’s tutor. Finally, the novel tells us that Freak had a seizure on his birthday, but in the movie he has it on Christmas.
There are many differences in the book Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick, and the movie the The Mighty some of them is when Freak died the nurse didn't tell maxwell that freak was dieing . Also maxwell and loretta didn't almost die in a basement. Finally when Freak and Maxwell went to go retrieve the purse maxwell don't go to Freaks bedroom window. The book, Freak the Mighty, has many similarities and differences from the movie based on it. Between the movie and the book, Max still learns valuable lessons from Kevin in the end and Loretta helps Max. At the end of the book and the movie, after Kevin died, Max became a more open and creative person than before he knew Kevin. Kevin taught him how to become the best person he can be. Loretta helped Max escape from Kenny’s restraints and wake him up to reality after Kevin died in both the movie and the book. These two acts of kindness greatly reflected on Loretta’s character and helped Max in the long run. In the book, Max and Kevin meet differently than they do in the movie. Also, Gwen never mentions how she knew Max’s mother in the movie
The biggest similarity between the book, and the movie is the theme. The theme in both the book, and the

Adelina has always dreamt of big things. People misjudged her and shunned her all of her young life. In general, the characters stayed the same throughout the book and movie. The difference is the emotions throughout the movie and the book. In the book, people could not tell any emotions that were happening. While in the movie, people can tell what the wild things and Max were feeling. For example, when Carol was upset about Max lying, and destroyed everything out of frustration. Society knew how Carol felt, and also could relate to him. This makes the movie easier to understand because the movie applies to individuals’ life, and most of the public has experienced sadness, excitement, happiness, anger, etc. Therefore, the movie is more relatable to individuals lives.
