Frederic François Chopin was born in a small town called Zelazowa Wola, near modern day Warsaw, Poland on the first of March, 1810. Once being presented with this opportunity to write this paper I found it as a wonderful opportunity to express my opinion on two different musical greats. The one that I decided to choose for the old would have to be Tchaikovsky, and for the new by far my favorite choice would be the beetles. The selection of these two specific artist was almost a no brainer for me, they embody the perfect blend of inspirational music that delivers a specific, yet powerful message, both artist belong to different genres one from a classical genre and one from a more modern form of music. Also, both these artists viewed music regardless of the genre as a form of communicating a message to the masses, in the beetles era war was occurring in the world and in terms of Tchaikovsky he was one of the best ballet composers of his
Born on December 17, 1770, Beethoven was a child Maria Magdalena Keverich and Johann Van Beethoven, where he was born and raised in Bonn, Germany. At quite a young age, Beethoven began exhibiting impressive musical talents. Following, Beethoven’s father became his initial musical instructor, however his methods of teaching were certainly questionable. Johann was brute, it was accounted for by neighbors that they witnessed a small child weeping playing the clavier while standing atop a footstool to reach the keys. His father shadowed him and punished him for every mistake; he also overworked and deprived him of sleep. With his father, Beethoven studied the clavier as well as the violin. He also received additional lessons from organists in the city he resided in, adding to his workload. Hoping for his son to be recognized as a musical prodigy, Beethoven’s first recital was held on March 26, 1778 when he was seven years old. Unfortunately, the performance was not a success, not in the way his father had hoped, Beethoven’s talents where indeed portrayed, however it did not receive the type of recognition that Johann had hoped for as there was no press or publicity. Meanwhile, average was a fitting word to describe Beethoven’s studies, music came more naturally to him than anything else. Therefore, he withdrew from school at the age of ten and committed his life to music. Following, he began to study music with the newly appointed court organist who went by the name of Christian

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was born on May 7th, 1840 in Kamsko-Votkinsk. His father, Ilya Petrovich, was a mining engineer and Chief Inspector of the metal works and his mother was Alexandra Tchaikovsky. It was from her that Tchaikovsky inherited his depressed personality. Tchaikovsky developed his love of music from listening to tunes from Italian operas played on the family’s orchestrion – a mechanical barrel-organ which roughly reproduced musical sounds. In September 1844, Tchaikovsky’s mother was visiting St. Petersburg when her husband proudly reported that Tchaikovsky and his sister, Sasha, had written a song called, “Our Mama in Petersburg.”
