Free-weights vs. Machine Exercises
“Free-weight exercises are better than machine exercise!” Many amateur exercise enthusiasts and even myself have said this at one time. When I first started exercising regularly, I believed free-weights were the only thing required to improve body mass and muscular strength. I only focused on the three main powerlifting exercises of barbell bench press, squat and deadlift. Not very long did it take for me to notice a peak in improving my strength when utilizing only free-weight systems. Once incorporating both systems of exercises I increased my overall 1 rep max(1RM) in the three types of exercises.
Free-weights and machine exercise systems are both extremely crucial to implement when trying to improve muscular strength and not one is better than the other. Free-weights generally pertains to barbell and dumbbell, while exercise machine is a system for physical activity that is influenced by resistance and being in a fixed position. However, each system of exercise has its own characteristics and can be more beneficial than the other under different circumstances.

For example, in a study the results had “A significant difference was found between bench press and squat 1RMs for each mode of equipment for all participants. The squat 1RM was greater for the SM than the FWs; conversely, the bench 1RM was greater for FWs than the SM. When sex was considered, bench 1RM for FWs was greater than SM for men and women. The squat 1RM was greater for SM than FWs for women only” (Michael L.
CrossFit is an intense exercise program that features high-intensity workouts. CrossFit athletes perform dynamic exercises like Olympic lifts and plyometric jumps. This workout program uses non-traditional equipment such as sand-bags, kettlebells, water-filled implements and suspension systems. Participants are challenged to do a certain number of repetitions in a workout in a specific time frame. These workouts are intense and involve very fast movements. Agility, flexibility, balance and power are all important concepts in CrossFit workouts. Due to the intensity and precise movements involved in a CrossFit workout, this type of exercise must be performed on a reliable and stable
The weights to be lifted should always be gradual, and one should not attempt to light heavy weights without perfecting on the less heavy
Being an athlete I know the struggles of strength and conditioning. Many athletes are pushed in the weight room and during conditioning, however are they being taught the right way? Effective weight training depends on proper technique. Many coaches try to go off of what they know and force their athletes to lift weights. This improper way of lifting often causes injury. The athlete should also lift the proper amount of weights. Athletes today need to know the right way to lift weights. This will allow them to actually gain muscle, power and speed instead of just being sore. There are many factors in weight lifting which include diet, frequency, intensity, and specification. All of these factors play a vital role in developing muscle.
Gender – whether there was a difference in performance between genders; used for comparison between male and female participants
Do you even lift bro? If you don’t that's okay, but there is more than meets the eye about weightlifting. Many people who may not have much knowledge about weightlifting may say all it does is help you build muscle and lose weight and that you have to eat healthy along with the training. But there is more to lifting weights than just that. There are benefits and drawbacks of weightlifting. Ones that affect the body physically and mentally whether is positive or negative, the use of supplements like protein powders, steroids, and the addictions that become of it, and there are more ways besides weight lifting to get the body you want or that weight goal a person may be trying to reach.
There are many different exercises for building the body not all are appropriate for every person. Any type of resistance training can help any person in many ways. By adding heavy dead lifting to your routine you can boost your muscles, improve your physique and strengthen your bones. All of these improvements will give your body power but, with any type of body training especially dead lifting it is critical to perform them correctly and add weight gradually in small increases. This is where most people make their first mistake. They add to much weight at once and this will ultimately cause them to fail. The reason is, they have not built enough strength to lift that much weight. In the struggle to lift more then you can
Have you ever looked at a bodybuilder and wanted that type of a body? Perhaps you want to lose weight, but don't know a lot about the type of exercises that are best for you? Or have you always tended to shy away from weight lifting fearing that it isn't for you? Let me tell you why weight lifting is an exercise that delivers top health benefits.
Lifting weights strengthens bones and tendons. It helps increase muscle volume and muscle conditioning. It allows an athlete to perform with a higher level of strength and speed. “Physically, athletes whom weight train and are in good condition will also be able to recover faster if and when an injury occurs. I see this in our setting and it is a proven fact” (Asing Interview).
College athletes do not have time to have a job to be able to provide for themselves the things that scholarships do not cover.

In ‘Macbeth’ and ‘Animal Farm’ there are many different characters, the main two that stick out though are the two evil tyrants, Macbeth and Napoleon. These destructive tyrants have their own level of ‘direst cruelty’ but there similar in many ways too, for example they’re both stupid and optimistic in their own selfish way. The reason for this is because Macbeth committed regicide, which is the murder of a king or queen and Napoleon committed cruel murder for their own selfish reasons. Personally, I believe that Macbeth and Napoleon’s actions link to the themes selfishness, corruption and violence. A quote to support this is: ‘I go, and it is done; the bell invites me’ this portrays Macbeth’s selfish side as his wife’s persuasion left him
The better approach in the training of athletes is a mix of both powerlifting and weightlifting in my opinion. Like I said earlier powerlifting has a bigger risk. But weightlifting helps to prevent injury. You need to have absolute strength foundation before any explosive strength development can occur.
Childhood is usually understood as a set of experiences and behaviours, gained in the early stages of the human existence, considered as the preparation for the adult world. However, the history of childhood is a very complex topic and it has become a very influential area of study in recent years. In 1962, the ‘Centuries of Childhood’ by Philippe Ariés introduced the idea that childhood was a new creation developed in recent centuries and as a concept it was believed to be nonexistent before the seventeenth century. This concept means that there was no awareness of the process of childhood. In several studies of the medieval period, Ariés noticed that childhood was not acknowledged or even attempted to be portrayed during this period. For
Using free weights, a person will achieve greater mass than he would if he did the same exercise using machine equipment. Free weights use the person’s natural range of motion and strengthen their stabilizer muscles. If one switches from machine weights to free weights they will notice that they will shake a lot. Once that person becomes adjusted to the feel of free weights his stabilizer muscles will get stronger and he/she won’t shake as much if at all.
Weight training is vital to your sports performance, because if you are matched with someone in skill, then it will take speed, power, and strength to defeat your opponent on the court, field or in the ring. Some athletes even coaches and trainers get confused with the deference between, bodybuilding or muscle building vs. weight training for strength and power for specific sports. For example having huge muscular legs does NOT mean you can jump very high, or run very fast; increased jumping ability comes from being able to lift with speed. If the weight continues to increase and the speed stays the same, power and vertical jumping ability will increase only if you maintain your body weight. When using weight lifting for sports the main goal is to improve and strengthen movements in your sport.
