It is sad to see that there are so many intolerant people who think that they have the right to persecute or harm those who are Islamic. For example, peaceful women who wear hijabs are often ridiculed, belittled, and sometimes even physically harmed simply because they wear a hijab and are Islamic. Furthermore, the number of hate crimes against Islamic people in America has risen since the tragic event of 9/11. So many innocent men and women were victims of violent hate crimes solely because of the peaceful religion they practiced was also believed to be shared with those who hijacked the planes that tragic day. It is because of things like this that it is vital that there are laws instituted to protect religious freedoms and that others are educated on tolerance, not only here in America but in other countries as
Freedom of religion has been a right guaranteed to individuals in society. However, it is ultimately just an idea put in place that is disregarded as something insignificant. The workplaces of many people choose to deny employees the right to express their religion freely, for fear it may leave a bad image for the company. It is apparent that freedom of religion is not a strong right as many people may have originally thought it was. The limits of this right have been tested for decades and continue to be an issue for people today. Freedom of religion may go on to exist as a right in society, but when investigating deeper into this privilege, it is evident that it is merely an idea taken for granted.
Religious freedom in the United States originated in the reason that many pilgrims arrived on North America’s shores. They were leaving so that they could practice their version of their religion unhindered by a government entity. This was later reaffirmed by the Constitution of the United States with the First Amendment’s Free Exercise Clause. The laws of the land continued to be relooked at by the Supreme Court and religious freedom was one of the issues addressed. Freedom of religion supports the right of a person or group to practice their religion in public or private places. It also means we have the freedom to change religions when we feel the need or not practice any at all. The first amendment of the US constitution made no law against religion which gave Americans freedom of religion and which allowed America to practice the religion of their choice. The Freedom of Worship (section 6) of the Texas constitution too discusses about the freedom of religion and the freedom to choose a religion as one desires. Both are similar in different ways. However, the Texas constitution mentions, “All men have a natural and indefeasible right to worship the Almighty God according to the dictates of their own consciences.” This quote embraces “Almighty God” however the first amendment did not mention God; it just mentioned the freedom of religion in general. When the Pilgrims settled into Massachusetts in 1620, they dreamed of a better life, a life away from the persecution they experienced in England from King George. They never would have dreamed that their small colony of Plymouth would blossom to be one of the largest countries in the world. And yet, nearly four hundred years later, it has become apparent to many, that America is in a downward spiral. It has come to a time where, the fate of our country could fall into the hands of one of the many people who believe it is right to persecute those of a specific religion because the actions of a small group of religious extremists. The unalienable First Amendment right of freedom of religion would be denied to more than 2.6 million people, based on uneducated assumptions. In addition to this, America has come to the point where more than forty-five million people live in poverty. Likewise, statistics show approximately 48.1 million people are in the uncomfortable position where they are insecure about their next, if not current, meal. In addition to this, our famous government, our renowned democracy, has become belittled by assumptions of political corruption. Furthermore, the morals in America have started to disappear, not only in our government, but also in our society. More kids are getting bullied and more people agree that we should rely less on faith, the very reason we built and expanded our country in the first place. Our once thriving nation

In order for religious freedom to be protected by the American state, religion must be clearly defined. As a result, religious theory must be used to maintain some semblance of religious freedom in the United States. Likewise, Josh Dubler’s Down in
Freedom is a basic human right. We use it in every aspect of our lives. With family and friends, we demonstrate our thoughts to each other about the world around us. Our privacy is shrinking because of a trade off with security. More Security means everyone will be safer but it is not necessary to subdue freedom because we are scared. The belief of freedom includes the choice of religion or absence of it if you choose to do so. The rights and choices we make can go as far as we please, if they do not impede another’s right to be happy. Freedom is a natural right, protected by the First Amendment in the Bill of Rights, that helps shape our everyday lives and is an American ideal.
One of the main reasons that the settlers came and founded America was for religious freedom. Colonist made the long and dangerous journey for other reasons as well, but a major factor was the search for religious freedom. Coming to America alone did not solve this problem; the journey to religious freedom was just that, a journey. Everyone had a slightly different idea of what this new nation’s ‘religious freedom’ should look like and it took many years to come to a compromise.
Recently, students were instructed to write an essay along with a pictorial representation of the person they considered to be their hero. Since one student chose Jesus as his hero and submitted a drawing of the Last Supper, possible legal complications need to be considered before grading and displaying the assignment. An examination of First Amendment legal issues that arise when a student submits an assignment of religious nature will provide insight into how the First Amendment applies in the classroom.
The freedom of religion, allows us to express our beliefs about God. It allows us to go anywhere we want to talk about God, and to go to any church or any religious group we feel like going to. This freedom allows us to speak out about our religion without getting in trouble. We as kids can go and talk to our friends, pastor, or even a stranger, without even having worry about it.
The United States of America has its history written in religion. Religion and government are important topics in almost every citizen’s daily life. The act of extricating religion and politics has been a complicated topic for many years. Because the United States of America has so many roots in religion, many political figures prey on the religious beliefs to benefit their image in their civil duties as a public servant. The United States of America been an advocate of separating the activities of organized religion and the policies and legislature of government matters. Fellow students and promonate leader. I am a devout Christian teen, and I want to talk about the religious freedom in America. Although I am a Christian, I speak for all religious groups when I say this speech. In today’s world from listening to the news, it appears that the freedom of religion is in jeopardy. Freedom seems to be slipping through the fingers of many Americans. Religion is not just overlooked nowadays, but used as a tool to discriminate others. To first understand my points, you must acknowledge the proper history of America.
Last month, Que (my best friend) had to write an essay on the First Amendment, she asked my opinion about a case called "Wisconsin v. Yoder". That case is about the Amish children, whose parents forced to leave school after completing grade eighth due to their religious beliefs. It confused me if their parents' action was a form of Freedom of religion? Preventing children from education because of religious reason is a borderline case, I am trying to decide if it fits into the category of Freedom of religion. To answer my question, I must make a list of obvious and contrastive examples to determine a definition of Freedom of religion.
Living in United States is a bless for every citizen because people got their rights when they were born or immigrated. In the constitution, First Amendment is the law that protect five basic freedoms; there are freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, and freedom to petition the government. However, all of the five rights made this amendment become the most argumentative amendment. It is not strange to everyone because each person has a different opinion about these rights. The right that I concern the most is the freedom of religion. Based on the dictionary, religious freedom is one of the basic human rights, manifested by the fact that people have the right to think, defend, pursue, choose their own religion. The roles of religion in our spiritual life are offering us lessons of life and becoming the moral support whenever we feel desperate. For instance, Buddhism teaches the Buddhists belief in samsara, which means living this life leniently leads to the happiness in the next life. From there, Buddhism encourages the spirit of love, compassion, and humility. Also, Catholics are taught that the difficulties and challenges in life are the temptations of the devil, only those who overcome them can enter the kingdom of heaven to live eternal life. Every religion directs human to the good, teaches us the lessons of improving our lives.
