The French and Indian War had a vastly negative impact on the relationship between the American Colonies, and Great Britain. After the war, Great Britain obtained a far more powerful presence in current political, and economic affairs than it had had before. In the years following the war, Britain imposed heavy taxes, and regulations on the colonies in an effort to pay off debt from the war. These taxes led to feelings of resentment in the colonies, and therefore, the colonists began to question whether or not Britain had the right to tax them. Eventually, the colonists began to fight for independence from Great Britain. Due to the economic toll taken on the country during the French and Indian War, Great Britain was prompted to impose taxes
