Freshman Year Advice

In this essay, I'm going to give advice to the high school freshman class to help them out with their last four high school years and to help them be successful. The advice that I am going to give might and probably will help freshmen, whether they are in-coming or already enrolled.

As a senior I hope to accomplish many goals, some of them being in high school and some relating to college. A goal is an aim or a desired result, but may not always be achieved. Going into senior year I have aspirations of going to a good college and working for higher grades.

I was still finding out who I was then, even now I’m not done changing, but I’m not who I once was, I’m not sad all of the time, I have a very small group of friends and I have changed for the better. My high school experience has been very interesting so far. Having few friends in life leads you to finding an alternative; I read of adventures and friendships, I learned the meaning of love and what it means to care about someone, I put myself in the shoes of those I read about. Junior year; considered the most difficult year of high school. Junior year wants to make senior year as relaxing and stress free as possible. Part of this preparation: community service and then writing a paper and making a presentation surrounding that service. Kennedy calls this project the integrated service learning (ISLE) project. For my ISLE project, I built houses in New Orleans through Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit organization. I found that when hurricane Katrina and the Levis broke it left a tremendous amount left in its wake. Since the trip would knock all my service hours out in a week and I became interested in the project I went and worked on houses and learned a great deal culture and poverty

As a nontraditional student as well as a Sophomore my goals as well as responsibilities are different from the typical student’s. As a father of three, including a six month old balancing my professional, academic, together with my personal life has been the most challenging aspect of returning to school.

Freshman year, I imagined that year to be amazing. I wanted it to just have an awesome flow but did it? It did in the beginning then a bomb went off during the middle of the year and turned freshman year into a complete disaster. Freshman year was supposed to be about having a great start to the rest of your high school life before you enter the big bad world but other students just couldn't help themselves but to create that bomb during the middle of my freshman year.

Looking back at the years that I have completed in high school is a funny but a true life changer. If I was to go back to one year of high school I would want to go back to freshman year. One reason why I would want to go back to freshman year is to talk to myself. Another reason I would want to go back it tell myself to listen more. The last reason would to see if I could improve myself in any way.

Heading from middle school to high school can seem somewhat intimidating to the average teenager. No more will you be in the safety of those peers you grew up with as you head off to the larger high school that allows you to blend in with grades 9th through 12th. Many first time freshman year high school students are filled with mixed emotions on this next chapter in their life. Today I am sharing some tips on how to survive freshman year at high school so that you can help your teenager relax and breeze through the first days of being a high school freshman.

The thought of new adventures I will encounter and the freedom I will gain in college makes me ecstatic. Hansen, who is an entrepreneur who is focused on helping people with college success and health and wellness. “Get enough sleep, take your vitamins and eat right.” Getting enough sleep can improve your focus and agility. The author suggest that if you stay healthy, get enough sleep, and take your vitamins you should have a better chance of avoiding the “Freshman 15.” Without having your parents around to serve you a good balanced meal, one may be tempted to go for the cookies

I think that I was not excited to be a senior at first because of how overwhelming applying to college is and also applying for scholarships. I actually feel less stressed as deadlines are becoming more of a reality now because I realized there is no reason to stress out and everything will work out. I definitely know that my mom is not excited that I am a senior especially since my sister and I will be her first to graduate and go off to college. Looking back on high school so far, there is not a lot I would change. Most would think that I would say all the AP classes that I took, especially last year, but I am glad that I challenged myself because I feel like I will be more prepared for college. If there was one thing I could change I would be not going to AAST my freshman year. I had a really great experience at the school but I feel like attending AAST made it really difficult to be involved at NMB and I also missed all of my friends that I had always gone to school

Now that I am all done with highschool and I am in college, were the work is ten times harder and the teachers don't really care if you fail or pass, I wish I had payed more attention in class and I wished that I would have taken my enducation a little more serious while I was in high

The concept of not having parents around to police almost every aspect of life may sound superb, but it isn’t all fun and games in college. Hansen, Ph.D, the author, is a former marketing professor and writes articles such as this one to empower people. “While good grades could have come naturally to you in high school, you will have to earn them in college”(Hansen). This quote is key for the kids who just skated by in high school. For incoming freshman the workload may seem unbearable, but staying organized and focused are vital if you want to succeed in your first year. Feeling overwhelmed and stressed

“College is a balancing act” I have personally heard this quote numerous times; however, it did not forecast its complete meaning until I began college myself. High School counselors prepare you academically and allow the paperwork process to run smoothly when entering college as a freshman. Although most of these counselors work hard to help High School senior’s transition into college, I believe no amount of paperwork or aid prepares you for such change. According to this survey, career uncertainty leads to anxiety – I couldn’t agree more with the findings of this study and to me it is no surprise. It is evident that the change of majors and anxiety created by the pressure of future satisfaction of jobs remains evident present day. Personally,

10 years ago I was starting 3rd grade. The grade in which private prison systems calculated how many new beds they would need based off of reading scores. This year I am a freshman in college at NC Agriculture and Technical State University, majoring in Landscape Architecture. Although, life somehow fell into place the way I wanted it to, I could have done a few things differently. I was a sassy somewhat insecure girl who refused to allow people to tell me what to do, and criticize any aspect of mine. If I could go back to my 8 year old self I would tell her your mother is always right, you do not have to follow the crowd, and do not take everything to the heart.

I honestly wouldn’t change anything about my lifestyle or how my years of high school have gone because I am truly happy with the person I have become. I might change my freshman year only because I didn’t really pay attention like I should have. I slacked a lot my freshman year and I now realize after the rest of my years at school, it really has been a struggle trying to get everything caught up. But now during my senior year I feel like I’m doing just fine and I am making it to the end okay. I have learned a lot throughout theses last 4 years of high school, I learned that high school goes by super fast and you really don’t get chances to redo any of the years.
