We have always been close friends but at lunch, everything changed. We didn’t have any classes together so we enjoyed every minute we saw each other at school. We always had something to talk about and secrets to spill, but one day I had a huge secret that I could never tell. My feelings started to change rapidly, everything was different about them. They were no longer that quirky friend of mine with glasses that were way too big for their face. They became that friend that had curls that bounced flawlessly when the walked, glasses that framed their face perfectly and a laugh that was so contagious it could make the saddest person happy. They became much more to me. They became my best friend someone I couldn’t live without. Someone that …show more content…
I kept hoping that I might have a chance with them, but there was always a small part of me thinking that I would never. This went on for months and Winter Ball was my chance to see if they also had feelings for me. I wished they would ask me to go with them as their date, but I heard nothing. Are you gonna ask anyone to the dance? No, I think I’ll just stay at home. Don’t do that. All of our friends are going you should go too. Dances aren’t really my thing though and you guys will have fun without me. You’re going to miss out on all the fun. They didn’t seem interested in going but I still had hope that they would come if I were to ask. I decided to make plans with them to meet at a park and ask them there. I kept thinking about them and if they would say yes or no. I didn’t get any sleep that night. My brain couldn’t stop thinking about all the possibilities, it just kept running and never shut down. It was time to go face them. “Hey,” I said quietly. My palms started getting clammy and my mouth was getting dry. “Hello,” they replied. “Aren’t you cold? It’s nearly 40 degrees outside,” I asked trying to overcome my nervousness. “No, I don’t get cold too easily. I have a jacket on that is good enough for me,” They responded. My mind was rushing Come on! Just ask them to the dance already. You are making things weird. Just say it already. “So about that dance… Do you think you would like to go with me?” I said nervously barely getting any of the words
Fay walks next to me. “It’s cold today.” He notes. I nod, watching a snowflake fall gently onto the ground.
The air was chilly but not quite cool enough for him to bother going back for his jacket. Jason's nerves
“Are you alr—hey!? What the…?” Someone is shaking my shoulder roughly. I snap back into consciousness blankly, then, I’m aware of the terrible cold around me. My wet clothes are clinging to my cold body.
“Then why didn’t you bring your wool jacket instead of this lighter leather jacket?” his partner inquired.
“Cold out there, eh?” one of his coworkers asks. He nods and gives her a smile.
He ran a hand through his sweaty hair, “I-well, I wanted to ask you if you’d like to go out some time? I wasn’t sure if you were single or not?” He sounded nervous.
The woman who greeted her wore a floral button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, black stretch pants, and comfortable red loafers. With her hands frantically motioning, she said, “Come inside. That’s some nasty weather out there.”
“Just think about winter and you can cool off like that! Thinking about the heat is going to make you even more hotter.” you told her.
“I’ll make you a cup of tea to warm you up. Speaking of, how was the sun today? I’m sure you had extended recess to enjoy it, and I even got the day off. Can you believe it?”
“Let’s go,” I yelled. In my head I was very nervous. The side-by-side was shooting snow into our faces.
“Hello” I called out softly “are you awake yet?” My voice felt weird in my throat. I haven’t talked much since they brought me here two weeks ago.
“Hey Mom can we just stay in the car because it’s way too cold?” I asked as I froze in the raging wind
Anya rubs her small hands together against the growing cold. “I thought you were going to die,” she states, staring at me with her forest green eyes. For a second, I think maybe, just maybe I see some emotion. Then her walls go back up. “A shame we’d never be so lucky,” she snorts in jest, giving me a little shove with her shoulder as she walks past.
"Well, then you like frozen ponds." Kageyama adjusts his blue scarf and wipes some of the snowflakes out of his hair. "Now, guess what I'm wearing."
I called my mom to pick me up and as I sat on the sidewalk waiting, I felt confident of my abilities, but then again couldn’t help thinking about what happened last time. The coaches hadn’t said when we would find out who made the team, but they would email us in the next couple of days.
