Friendship is a relationship that all the individuals can create by themselves. Though it is not a god gifted relationship like that of the relationship of a mother, father, sister, brother or any of the other family but still it is one of the best relations an individual can possess. People who have true friends consider themselves as the luckiest individuals on earth.
“Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art… It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival.” – C.S. Lewis.

It is always advisable to stay away from such individuals in order to maintain your peace of mind.
It is extremely essential to be capable of making proper choices in life especially when we are interested in choosing the group of friends we want to support and be with for the rest of our lives. Choosing proper friends is a bit difficult task but not impossible. We should have a group of friends who are disciplined and punctual individuals. This is essential because of the reason that we start becoming like the people we hang out with most. If for example one or two of our close friends are involved in bad habits such as smoking, drinking and taking drugs, sooner or later we will follow suit. This is the reason why it is advisable to make a proper choice when it comes to making friends. True friendship is as a matter of fact a blessing enjoyed by a few. Those who have it should thank God for having true gems in their lives and those who do not have a few good friends should constantly strive for new ways to secure good friends. No company is better than having a friend by your side in times of need. You will remain happy in your one room apartment if you are surrounded by your friends; on the other hand, you cannot find happiness even in your mansion if you are alone.
There are times when your family fails to solve all the problems of your life; you
Friendship is one of the most valuable components in life. Friendship has the ability to change lives in a positive way. Friendship changes people’s views on life to a more positive outlook. “True friendship is when someone knows you better than yourself and takes a position in your best interests in a crisis. Friendship goes beyond sharing time together, and it is long lasting.” (Friends.com). As we spend a lot of time with our friends, friendship opens our minds to different ways of viewing the world. Unfortunately, sometimes strong barriers may be placed by those who see two people’s friendship as a threat; since people are influenced by their friends, friendship could make people question what
We all have friends that we enjoy spending time with, but we do not seem to think heavily as to why we have these friends. These relationships are not necessary to survival; all that is needed for our physical body to survive is food and water, yet people want to create long-lasting friendships with people they cherish. In his work, Lysis, Plato says that that friendship is the least of natural loves, ones which we do not need to reproduce. C.S. Lewis complements this by describing friendship as “unnecessary, like philosophy, like art.... It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things which give value to survival.” Many early
Ever since the tragic terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 the media’s top priority every day is covering any and all terrorism. By all acounts, 9-11 remains the single most deadly attack ever on American soil, however terror attacks declined over the last twenty years. Despite the decline in terror activity, media coverage continues to report at an all-time high. Thus, every major news entity worldwide continually provides around the clock terrorism coverage. A situation in which two people are friends, this is the definition of friendship by Cambridge dictionary. Another dictionary defines friendship as the state of being a friend. Some of you might have noticed that the meaning is really vague.
DUI’s have been on the rise in the past few years, therefore there have been many myths on how to not obtain a DUI or a DWI. New York became the pioneer state in which, they made to first drunk driving laws in 1910, followed shortly after California then the other forty-eight states followed. These DUI laws stated that a driver could not operate a vehicle while under the influence, although intoxication was not defined by legislature at this period of time. Then in the 1930’s committees wanted to make the roads safer. So The American Medical Association started a committee that studied the most common issues that lead to accidents. Also the National Safety Council created a study that determined intoxication, they reached a conclusion that a Blood Alcohol Content above 0.15 was intoxicated and anything under a person was sober, this became the first legal limit for BAC in 1938. Although as time progressed the laws became stricter, this was due to various groups that petitioned against drunk driving. The pressure from these organizations led to changes, such as raising the legal drinking age to twenty-one years of age, which was required for all states, yet drunk driving laws was not required by all police departments at this time. Then the legal limit was lowered to 0.10 from 0.15, then once lowered again to our legal limit we have to which is 0.08. The first myth to bust is the various amounts of ways someone can fool a Breathalyzer. The Breathalyzer is a small handheld
Merriam-Webster defines a friend as “One attached to another by affection or esteem”. Our success and lives as a whole are altogether based on relationships we create and what we do with them. Communication and the ability to work with others is a basic and required skill in every field of our lives, whether it's applying for a job, meeting with a teacher, talking to a parent or simply spending time with family and friends. It is something taught to preschoolers on their first day and used until their final few. To survive, we must meet “basic needs” known as food, water, shelter and, clothing. Friendship should be acknowledged in this list as a need of each person. By displaying the relationship of Lennie Small and George Milton in Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck portrays this need for friendship. F. Scott Fitzgerald portrays this idea as well through, Jay Gatsby and Nick Carraway in The Great Gatsby. Friendship is a basic need of any human, needed to survive and thrive in our everyday lives.
The concept of friendship and what makes a friendship may seem simple depending on what people look for in friendships. Some people may have friendships that are solely based on pleasure or it is because it is useful to them in their time of need or a friendship that gives the person both pleasure and usefulness. A person may have these types of friendships with different people. Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics, brings up what the best kind of friendship is. A long-lasting friendship is the best kind (Aristotle 221). This is an important concept when it comes living a good and ethical life. It is not only important to know why some friendships do not last long, but it may also help a person figure out if the friendship they have with
This story takes a wide variety of the many stereotypical friends that people meet throughout their lifetime, and gives multiple examples on why we need each of them. The author, Marion Winik, highlights the importance of each different friend with their unique characteristics, and what classifies them as that specific friend. For example, there are “Buddies” who help in many scenarios both big and small; “Relative Friends” are family members that someone finds common grounds with; “Work Friends” are people that get along solely for the fact that they work together; “Faraway Friends” is a person that someone grew up with, but they moved away; “Former Friend” are friends no longer associated with each other; “Friends You Love to Hate” are obnoxiously
In life there are many changes that can cause a true friendship to go wary such as marriage, divorce, birth of children, new careers, and sickness. However, through each of those events the two must remember to keep the intimacy, the letting down of emotional barriers and the expression of innermost thoughts and feelings, “that which makes friendships thrive must be an enjoyable one” and to “always interact” (Karbo 3). Although psychologists continue to research the formation of friendships the great philosopher Aristotle knew exactly how friendships formed and how the lasted.
Friendship is a sentimental bond between two people. Humans are social animals. It is difficult for them to stay away from their fellow beings. To survive they seek the warmth and comfort of each other. The positive emotional bonds (other than by blood) formed between them are known as bonds of friendship. The foundation of friendship is strengthened by the walls of loyalty and friendship.
Throughout our lives we will need friends. Even when we fall in love and embrace ourselves in that companionship, we will still need friends to keep a part of our individuality.
Many believe friendship is one of the most important values in life, and that you need not be the same age, sex nor type to attain friendship. One of the most primary and discernable philosophies of friendship is “Don’t judge a book by its cover, it is what is inside that matters”. That means that if you don’t know them, don’t judge them. Yet, too often are we influenced by society, and become so biased to see the true beauty of friendship: You can be friends with anyone. Whether it is another person, an animal, or your imagination.
Friendship is an entity that has been in our history since the beginning of time. This seemingly unbreakable bond has been ingrained in us since before we were able to speak and really understand the value of friendship. Television has even promoted this relationship throughout the years with shows such as Sesame Street featuring Bert and Ernie, the 90’s mega hit simply entitled Friends all the way to the wildly popular cartoon Spongebob and his faithful best friend and sidekick Patrick. Friendships can carry strong or limited emotions so there may be highs and lows, but at the end of the day friendships have been proven to be beneficial for individuals, groups and society as a whole.
As C.S. Lewis once said “ Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art. It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival.” This quote gives a picture of why friendships are needed. From the start of a friendship one should do his or her best to consider others. Depending on their effort for evaluation of others, ones friendships could grow stronger and flourish into a bond that lasts forever. Create a knot that cannot be
