The AICPA (American institute of Certified Public Accountants) identified that most corporations increased using fund statements in their annual report. The theme of the use of fund statements is creating confusion when it came to preparing and interpreting them in the annual reports. The fund statements have been used over the past 100 years and have been incorporated in today’s practices . They are supposed to report all the items that have not been disclosed by the balance sheet, retained earnings statement, and the income statement. This means all changes in the form of liquidity; inter-entity transactions, and any form of different perspectives is reported. I think in order to avoid all the confusion and compromises in companies and organizations, accountants should request for the adoption of two or more reports to be used instead of the funds statement. …show more content…
Unfortunately, the railway’s financial and organizational structure was negatively affected by the commencement of the war . The company suffered the destruction of its rails, warehouses and other assets which meant that it had to go back into its profits to revive itself again. The company was lucky s its rolling stock was still bringing in some profit and was able to keep the company afloat. The war seemed to cost the company a lot of money due to the purchase of new locomotives and high costs of repair of the railroads, warehouses, and other assets. It is understandable that the company had to have high rates for its services, but that was to balance the books due to the high cost of labor, materials, and railroad maintenance. At the end, it is business and both positive growth and profits should be set and
Consider the painting The Railroad Bride, Argenteuil by Claude Monet. This artwork looks simple, but uses geometry and one point linear perspective. Monet uses a sense of opposition is created by the alternating rhythm of light to dark established by the bridge pillars and the color orange and blue in both water and smoke from the train above. The light and dark areas given the picture asymmetrical balance between the dark and light areas. Monet uses one point linear perspective to create the bride. He uses proportions in the relationship between the parts of the object and the whole object by using geometry. Monet uses grid like geometry. The wooden structure support under the bridge is the same overall structure of grid and diagonals. Other lines are the apparent in the two diagonals as well as opposing directional lines of the train and the boat. The smoke shows direction of the wind and that the boat is moving that way as well. The visual weight/balance of the sail boat is smaller than the bridge. I believe the focal point is the new bridge for the train and new travels was is focal point in the picture.
The article, “Creating the System: Railroads and the Modern Corporation”, informs us all about the development of the transcontinental railroad and how it helped drive the nation west and also transformed western North America into a economy that had many opportunities. The railroads have always interested me when it comes to this period of time. What I learned from the reading that I didn’t know before was that the Western railroads were primary carriers of grain, other agricultural produce, livestock, coal, lumber and minerals. Also seeing the prices that the farmers shipped their products for, and what they paid for the freights rates was very interesting. Overall, if the railroads wouldn’t have been built in a time when there was so little
Knowing this stock companies started investing in the railway to eventually make eventually make more
Although the railroad was doing a lot to benefit the economy positively there were other factors that harmed it as well. The years of 1873 to 1897 was known as the Great Depression. Many companies at the time were in competition with one another. Many companies and the Railroads made an attempt to structure and control the market place. “Pools” were created to group competing companies and create fixed prices. “Trusts” were also created where various companies were all under control of single director. At the time there were many small companies that eventually merged into one large corporation. So many of these companies merged
Fund flow statements can be used to identify a variety of problems in the way a company operates. For example, companies that are using short-term money to finance long-term investments may run into liquidity problems in the future. Meanwhile, a company that is using long-term money to finance short-term investments may not be efficiently utilizing its capital.
“Access to good financial information is essential to success in the policy and financial management arenas” (Bartle, Hildreth, Marlowe. P. 222). Proper accounting is the cornerstone to working towards a balanced budget. The CAFR (comprehensive annual financial report)

The Railroad permantely impacted the workforce by promoting oppurtinies throughout the settlers and African Americans.
“If any act symbolized the taming of the Northwest frontier, it was the driving of the final spike to complete the nation’s first transcontinental railroad.”1 The first railroad west of the Mississippi River was opened on December 23, 1852. Five miles long, the track ran from St. Louis to Cheltanham, Missouri. Twenty-five years prior, there were no railroads in the United States; twenty-five years later, railroads joined the east and west coasts from New York to San Francisco.2
Orphan trains and Carlisle and the ways people from the past undermined the minorities and children of America. The film "The orphan Trains" tells us the story of children who were taken from the streets of New York City and put on trains to rural America. A traffic in immigrant children were developed and droves of them teamed the streets of New York (A People's History of the United States 1492-present, 260). The streets of NYC were dirty, overcrowded, and dangerous. Just as street gangs had female auxiliaries, they also had farm leagues for children (These are the Good Old Days, 19). During the time of the late 1800's and early 1900's many people were trying to help children. Progressive reformers, often called
The First Transcontinental Railroad was an extremely exciting topic to learn about and it was very interesting, which is why I chose it as my History Day topic. I chose to portray my project as an exhibit since I decided that it was only appropriate to show these series of events in a more visual, direct way. There were other ways I could have created my final project, such as a documentary, skit, or website; however, I decided that sketching a train and making physical 3D artifacts would be more visually appealing.
Financial statements of the company are significant for the investors who would like to venture into the business operation. It gives them the insight whether the business is making profits or it is doomed to fail;
The Undergorund Railroad served as a "gateway to heaven" for slaves of the southern United States. It provided slaves a way to get north to the freeland, where they would not be forced into slavery. It was the best way for slaves to get away.
On May 10th, 1869, a large crowd gathered at Promontory Point, Utah to celebrate the completion of one of the most impressive engineering feats of the 1800’s: the Pacific Railroad. After six years of grueling work, millions of dollars spent, and many battles against Native Americans fought, sea to shining sea was finally connected by two ribbons of iron. The United States was transformed by the new railroad: Masses of immigrants flocked out to the newly connected territories in pursuit of better lives, towns cropped up over night along the route, and an agricultural empire was born as farming machinery was brought to the fertile western plains of the United States. The profoundly positive impact the railroad had on the United States came at a great cost, however. The more than 12,000 Chinese immigrant workers of the transcontinental railroad were treated poorly and unjustly throughout construction, and Native American empires in the plains laid in ruins from the white-American military and pioneers that induced conflict with indigenous people and the government that annexed their lands. These negative consequences of American progress force a question to be asked; did the socioeconomic benefits the Pacific Railroad brought to white American citizens justify the unequal respect and maltreatment given to the Chinese immigrant workers and the Native American tribes? This is the question this essay will answer, as it examines the role the Chinese workers had in
