There are eight divisions and eight regional offices that make up the Bureau of Consumer Protection. Every office adds to the Bureau's main goal.
Division of Privacy and Identity Protection- the newest of the Bureau's divisions, oversees issues related to consumer privacy, credit reporting, identity theft, and information security. The Division enforces the statutes and rules within its jurisdiction, engages in outreach and policy development, and educates consumers and businesses about emerging privacy, credit reporting, and information security issues, as well as identity theft prevention and assistance. In addition, the Division analyzes the impact of current and potential legislative initiatives in the areas within its purview.

Division of Marketing Practices - responds to ever-evolving problems of consumer fraud in the marketplace. The Division enforces the FTC Act and several other federal consumer protection laws by filing FTC actions in federal district court for immediate and permanent orders to stop scams; prevent fraudsters from perpetrating scams in the future, freeze their assets; and get compensation for scam victims.
Division of Consumer Response & Operations - collects and analyzes data to target law enforcement and education efforts and measure the impact of activities related to the FTC’s consumer protection mission. The division is responsible for various projects and
As human beings and citizens of the world, everyone values their privacy. It is a right that is often looked over and taken for granted by most. Since the beginning of time, there have been concerns about individuals’ rights to privacy and their personal information remaining confidential. Our founding fathers had concerns about this which is why, “…this right has developed into

| A consumer would be interested in DFS, as they want them to produce high-quality, value-for-money products and the after-sales service in order to make any future sales. As they are the purchaser of the good, the business is essentially interested in the needs of the consumer. They can have a huge impact on the business as if they receive a poor quality product it would lead to any future sales being lost. This is vital as like every
He is in charge of four departments, each headed up by a senior manager. These departments are distribution, trade marketing, market research, and sales. The sales department, which has 1400 employees, is further divided into urban sales and rural sales, and there are 13 rural sales managers reporting to the head of rural sales. Each sales representative serves a territory that usually consists of both licensed and non-licensed establishments. They supply retailers with product information and storefront displays. They also offer discounts and promotions, where appropriate, in an attempt to win limited retailer shelf space. A partial organization chart is shown in Exhibit A.
It also declares an “unfair method for the sake of competition that affects commerce, and also being involved in the deceptive acts which affect commerce, are declared unlawful.” The Don’s restaurant is rather famous and has great market value. This means that there must be competitors in the market for Don’s restaurant to participate in various acts. The truth will be known once the investigations have been made. Injustice and deception for the consumers symbolizes two separate areas of the FTC authority and enforcement. The FTC has the authority to overtake all the unfair techniques of the competition between the businesses (Macaulay, 1979).
Multiple consumer protection agencies or independent bodies can assist consumers to resolve their complaints and provide advice about consumer related matters. Two of which are NSW Fair Trading and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
Creating an adequate monitoring system not only protects the best interest of an organization but the consumer also. Furthermore, without these structured protections for the business and consumers, unethical behavior tends to flourish throughout an organization in several different forms. In the case of the Better Business Bureau, it appears that the proper protections were not in place to protect consumers or the organization should have updated its mission statement to account for the many consumer changes since the use of the internet globalized businesses. Furthermore, the leaders of BBB should have worked harder to ensure that employees and companies were punished for allowing his or her unethical behavior to tarnish the organization’s image.
And up under the directors there are eight divisions: Division of Advertising Practices, Division of Consumer and Business Education, Division of Consumer Response and Operations, Division of Enforcement, Division of Financial Practices, Division of Litigation Technology and Analysis, Division of Marketing Practices and Division of Privacy and Identity Protection. The Federal Trade Commission Bureau of Consumer Protection has about seven divisions and eight regional offices. There is the East Central Region(Cleveland), Midwest Region(Chicago), Northeast Region(New York), Northwest Region(Seattle), Southeast Region(Atlanta), Southwest Region(Dallas), and the Western Region(Los Angles/ San Francisco). What is the FTC? The FTC stands for Federal Trade Commission. The Federal Trade Commission is an independent federal agency created by Congress in 1914 to help prevent unfair business practices, deception, fair trade practices, and unfair competition. The FTC’s mission is to protect the consumers by enacting laws to ensure that businesses cannot cheat people out of money and keep businesses from being unethical and immoral. The FTC takes complaints about businesses and investigates them for fraud or unfair labor practices every year (Silbersack, 2013).

Privacy is what allows people to feel secure in their surroundings. With privacy, one is allowed to withhold or distribute the information they want by choice, but the ability to have that choice is being violated in today’s society. Benjamin Franklin once said, “He who sacrifices freedom or liberty will eventually have neither.” And that’s the unfortunate truth that is and has occurred in recent years. Privacy, especially in such a fast paced moving world, is extremely vital yet is extremely violated, as recently discovered the NSA has been spying on U.S. citizens for quite a while now; based on the Fourth Amendment, the risk of leaked and distorted individual information, as well as vulnerability to lack of anonymity.

I have decided to write a research paper on the importance of protecting personally identifiable information (PII) in Information Technology. PII is a critical, but often overlooked skill requirement for IT professionals. The subject of PII data is of vital importance to me since I work with PII data frequently and must be prepared to handle it correctly and ethically, less risk the violation of privacy law. In addition to satisfying the necessary requirements for a research paper, the intention of this paper are to provide:
Consumer departmentalization is based on division by customers served. A common example is an organization that has one department to handle retail customers and one department to handle wholesale or industrial customers.
The data protection act protects people who are identifiable from their information and data being shared. The information will be bank details, address and billing and some other personal details.
