Gaining College Degree

Lastly, college is important to me because it helps me teach my children and others that if you want it bad enough you will stick with it and make it happen. It teaches me that I can not help others if I have not been trained and taught to do so. I want my kids and others around me to see me going back to school after 13 years and succeed in the career of my dreams. I want my family to be proud of me and I hope one day my children will see that you can’t make it in the world without a education. So I want to help others by encouraging them to keep going and to strive to do their best and they will make it and be able to support their family like I am trying to do. As Sylvia Porter once said, “Invest in yourself and your education. There’s nothing better.” I have made that quote my motto until I finish schooling.

In the near future, I expect to gain many important aspects from my college education. The first and most important thing I hope to gain from this experience is independence. In my opinion, having a successful career of your own is one of the best things you can accomplish. The best matter to never have to worry about, is depending on other people. You never know what will happen to you in the future. You always want something to fall back on something and a college diploma is the perfect answer. The last component that I hope to gain from college is a great life experience that I will never forget. This is only my first semester as a freshman, but I can already predict that college is going to give me all of these gifts.

I am going to be the first in my family to go to college which is great, I want to take my opportunities and make my parents proud that I could go when they couldn't.They've been pushing me since I started middle school to go to college. Because of this I have been preparing, I have learned to be better at time management also organization.The quote that my father always tells me “education is happiness,” I live by it, always trying to learn more. My mom works at a college and I get many opportunities to speak to counselors and tuition handlers.

More than just trying to make my family proud, I want to go to college to better myself. I see going to college as an opportunity to challenge myself intellectually, emotionally, and mentally. Deciding to pursue my Graduate Degree was very difficult for me. I had been out of the school setting for 15 years.
