Galatians, chapter six verses seven through eight say, “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.”
First I just want to start my paper off by saying that being in this predicament with my school has brought shame upon myself, and towards my family. They taught me to make better decisions even in tough situations, and that doing what is popular is not always the right thing to do. I look back on my mistake with a humble heart, thankful for the lenient consequences and the chance to continue my education. I am very rooted in the Bible, and my father is

This is a true statement and means a lot to me. The closest people in my life may not have the best interests or intentions that are best for me. I got into this situation with my fraternity brothers and not to bring down their character, they usually act without thinking about the consequences. It is easy to fall into peer pressure with your friends, specifically brothers, because you think they wouldn’t do anything to hurt you or put you in a dangerous situation. It would have been better if he/they would have influenced me not to do it because that isn’t my character and I shouldn’t jeopardize my future. They know me best and know that I have a lot planned in the next year or so and smoking marijuana and getting caught would definitely hinder my future success. I knew I shouldn’t have participated because I thought twice about doing it in the first place. Anytime I have to second guess whether I should be doing it or not, I know I shouldn’t. I felt very bad when I realized I couldn’t take the sole blame for the whole situation and the peers I had with me would also get in trouble. I shouldn’t have put other’s lives and successes at stake like …show more content…
Marijuana is an addictive drug. Fifty percent of everyday marijuana users become addicted. Most of all my peers I go to college and went to high school with smoke everyday with no intention in stopping. They smoke maybe five times throughout the day and when I ask why, they told it helps them stay calm and chills them. So they are really telling me that their body cannot function properly without their daily dose of marijuana because their body is trying to keep at homeostasis. That is why when everyday users try to quit smoking, they suffer from irritability, sleeplessness, anxiety, and a decreased appetite. Marijuana effects motivation, short term and long term memory, and also school work. College students smoke throughout the day, so it makes it very likely that they try to do school work or even go to class under the influence. One fact that I really didn’t know about with marijuana is that it increases the heart rate, along with raising blood pressure and damaging the lungs. For me that is important because I was born with a defective heart that takes twice as much energy to pump blood and I also have high blood pressure which is hereditary in my family. So not only did I put myself at a criminal risk, I also put myself at a health risk as well. There is also a risk for someone to buy “laced” marijuana which means that there is potential that
It's destructive to the learning performance, memory, and attention span. It has insidious side effects including lung damage and cancer risks. It also impairs ability to work, drive, and make clear decisions, not to mention, the lack of motivation, depression, and paranoia. In addition, "daily marijuana use has been associated with a doubling of the risk for psychosis. The most common type was a brief acute organic reaction characterized by mental dulling, distortion of time, dreamlike euphoria progressing to fragmenting thoughts, and hallucinations. More potent marijuana can cause even more severe reactions" (Baum 16). This means marijuana has tremendous costs on those who use it as well as society. The effects of marijuana abuse on an individual can be substantial, but the costs to society are innumerable. The effects can be felt in the rising of health care to increased insurance premiums. As the number of marijuana users increase, the number seeking medical attention also increases. In addition, being treated for various illnesses caused by marijuana abuse, results in missed days at work. Productivity levels fall not only because of absenteeism, but also as a result of impaired abilities. Workers under the influence of marijuana suffer from cognitive disorders that hampers their productivity. Further, as a social problem, marijuana costs society billions of tax dollars every year in an effort to obliterate drugs.
Marijuana has been deeply studied in the past few decades and has shown scientist many things that weren’t evident before. Marijuana has been linked to many health issues good and bad. It has shown to reduce stress and anxiety, help with headaches, lower blood pressure and one of the most evident and positive health affects is that it has been shown in many studies to stop and even kill cancer cells in the body. There are however negative effects that have been looked into and studied by scientist. These include, blocking memory formation, psychosis, and an increased risk of depression while using marijuana regularly. Not everything revolving around marijuana is a “health issue” though, the biggest reason that people use marijuana today is because it simply makes people feel good. That is a positive effect.
Amenably, in Galatians 5, 6, Paul explicates the outcome of justification by grace through faith is spiritual freedom. Paul appealed to the Galatians to persevere in their freedom, and not become ensnared in the slavery of Mosaic Law. Christian independence is not a justification to appease one’s lower nature, rather a prospect to love one another. Such freedom does not isolate one from life’s struggles. In actuality, it may strengthen the battle concerning the Spirit and the flesh. Nonetheless, the flesh remains crucified with Christ, consequently the Spirit bears His fruit as in love, joy, and peace in the natural life of the believer.
Although it seems that Acts 15 and Galatians 2 record the same event, that is not the case. In the book of Acts, specifically Acts 15, Peter is in Jerusalem at the Jerusalem council. In Galatians 2, Paul speaks about his second journey to Jerusalem. The events that occurred in Galatians also relates to the events in Acts. The main question while analyzing both chapters is: Does it record the same event? There has been speculation that it is the same event told in both chapters, but it is evident that in Acts and Galatians, it tells the stories of different events. Both of these chapters detail similar happenings, but it is not the same event.
People who smoke marijuana tend to be less aware of their surroundings. They slow down mentally and physically. They won’t be able to pay attention in class. This will ultimately make their grades drop. It can also lead to worse drugs such as meth and crack.
People might think smoking marijuana is cool. They might try it without knowing what it is or what affects is has on you. Once someone smokes it for the first time, they might keep doing it again and again and they could get hooked on it for life. People who use marijuana usually never use any other type of illegal drugs, but more than seven thousand five hundred people get arrested for using marijuana every year. There is a wide variety of marijuana, but they are all based off of two marijuana plants, Indica and Sativa. Marijuana is very popular in America, and all over the world. Marijuana affects the body, it can be used as medicine, and marijuana can be addictive.
Studies have proven that marijuana is no more harmful to a person’s health than alcohol or tobacco. Every year, tobacco kills roughly 390,000 people, alcohol contributes to 80,000 deaths in America and marijuana contributed to 0; no deaths from marijuana have ever been recorded in US history (Abovetheinfluence.org). When smoking tobacco, the user inhales tar, nicotine, carbon monoxide, and 200 other known poisons into the lungs (Abovetheinfluence.org). All forms of tobacco, including cigars, pipe tobacco, snuff, and chewing tobacco, contain the addictive drug nicotine, and can also cause cancer. Alcohol alters a person's perceptions, emotions, movement, vision, and hearing. Alcohol plays a role in at least 50 percent of traffic deaths, about half of murders, and about 25 percent of suicides (Abovetheinfluence.org). Marijuana side effects include delusions, impaired memory, hallucinations and disorientation, which are no different from the side effects of alcohol alone.
Marijuana is considered in popular culture to be a widely accepted mainstream recreational illegal drug used in the United States; its use comes with severe adverse side effects that are often overlooked. Long-Term use of marijuana 'sis shown to have negative effects on physical, mental, and environmental health. Studies have shown that in the United States, up to 20% of daily marijuana users become dependent (Marijuana and Lung Health) showing a physical or emotional need for the drug. Marijuana use has the potential to affect every aspect of a person 's physical and mental wellbeing negatively. Its use also comes with potentially life-altering risks to one 's future including an individual’s likelihood of obtaining a degree, impacting their future earning potential and decreasing their overall reported life satisfaction. Once dependent on marijuana, people stop caring about their schooling. Long-term use of smoking marijuana can result in the inability to learn, retain information and think critically.
Is thought that the recipient of the letter were people from a province in central Asia Minor and Paul preached them during his first mission. The authors of the letter to the Galatians was Paul and Jesus Spirit. One of the main purpose of the letter or theme was to address the relationship from the Gentile Christians towards Judaism. The main points of the letter are to be truthful to God and commit to Him, in order to gain the Kingdom of heaven. In verse Gal 1:7 Paul clarifies that there is no other Gospel than the one that Jesus proclaimed. Paul explains that there is people that try to confuse Christians and pervert the gospel of Christ but he is warning us not to fall into that. It repeats over and over to not follow the law of the world but the teachings of Jesus Christ. We all are the church. The ones who believe on God are the church. To be the church in this letter means to believe in Jesus Christ and only worship God because He gave us freedom from sin and He is the only one that can lead us to the Kingdom of God. It also means to live by the fruit of the Spirit which is in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Gal 5:22-23). It means to die to the sin, to reject the sin of, fornication, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, anger, quarrels, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing (Gal 5:19-21), and anything that looks like
When looking at the assignment, it got me thinking of which letter is really my favorite, or which one do I know the most about? The more I though about it, I read the book of Galatians the most out of any of the letters. The book of Galatians started to stick out to me when I was in my senior year of high school. I was caught up in a lot of bondage and pride. Galatians, chapter five really rocked my world. In the beginning of the chapter Paul states: " It is for Freedom Christ has set you free.” In this time of my life there were the words I needed to hear. I needed to know that Jesus died so that I could be free from all bondage and pride. I was also struck by the verse, Galatians 6:14. "May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus
Romans 3:23 says, “for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” (ESV). Romans 6:23 states, “for the wages of sin is death…” God’s wrath is against all who do not know Him, against all who deny Him. Every person stands before God as a guilty sinner who deserves God’s wrath to be poured out upon them. However, the remaining portion of Romans 6:23, gives hope in the midst of this terrible news. Paul says that, “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (ESV). How is this possible? Because God chose to send His Son as the sacrifice who would pay the debt for any and everyone who trusts in Christ as Savior. As the penal substitution, Christ not only offers salvation to sinners, but He took on their sins and bore God’s wrath on the cross. Jesus experienced the imputation of the sins of the world upon Himself, so that believers could be imputed with His righteousness. “He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth” (Isaiah 53:7). He willingly stood in our place; He willingly took our punishment; He willingly bore the wrath that every sinful person
More than one in three people have experimented with marijuana in their lifetime. Meaning that if you’re living, breathing, and socializing chances are you’ve met thousands of people who have either tried or is currently dependent on marijuana. Whether it’s referred to it as cannabis, hemp, weed, pot, reefer, grass, or mary-jane, it’s gone global and has proven significantly difficult to control. There is no substantial research stating whether weed is clear cut good or bad for people to consume, but most doctors and counselors will tell you it's a no-go. Pot is detrimental to mental and physical health, your personality, and society as a whole and should only be legal in instances where death is inevitable. The negative side effects of this
It seems every decade marijuana studies show that it has no side effects on users, in turn it become more available like when some states in America had legalized it. Dr Kevin M. Gray believes that the only side effect of smoking weed is the physical addictions it causes, he believes that over 51% of all teens have used weed at least once and the biggest problem we are facing with this rapidly growing drug use is only addiction. Dr Marshall M. Gay believes that the health effects of weed isn’t that much as smoking cigarettes and doesn’t see it a threat to people’s health. “More than half (51%) of adolescents reported that marijuana is fairly or very easy to obtain.2 this ease of availability may have contributed to a recently reported "reverse gateway" from cigarettes use to marijuana”. The more ignored belief is that marijuana can lead to a variety of developmental, mental and physical side effects. The effects of smoking weed can extend to those of smoking cigarettes “studies show regular marijuana use can lead to many of the same
The effect of marijuana legalization haves their good and harmful effect. The negative effect of marijuana is it can affect impairments in learning and memory loss. Adolescence who uses marijuana can worsen their brain development. Such as, decreasing their cognitive function and having a poor academic performance. According to Patrick Condron, “Adolescence who use marijuana perform worse on tests of problem solving; with problems, also in areas of attention, memory and learning.” (Condron, 2017). However, Marijuana is mostly used for medical purposes. Many people use marijuana to reduce the discomfort caused by cancer or other long-term diseases. But this doesn’t change the fact that marijuana is a bad use of drug. Still, it can change people’s
Marijuana is a green or brown mix of preserved, crushed leaves from the marijuana plant. A psychoactive drug, marijuana contains fifty-percent more tar than tobacco. Smoking the harmful plant can damage the brain, lungs, and the male reproductive system and may escalate the effects of epilepsy and psychosis (Kahler, 1988). Within campus colleges and universities, there are a lot of students who are using marijuana recreationally. Long-term marijuana use can induce negative effects on short-term memory, concentration, attention span, motivation, and problem solving, which clearly interfere with learning. Tetrahydrocannabinol, the active ingredient in marijuana, can reinforce dependence on the drug and on other addictive drugs (Joffe &
