Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) has an established community living agreement, which directs all its members on how to carry themselves within the institution’s environment, as well as in the community. The institution’s mission is to offer higher education within a Christian community where character is modeled and transformed to express Christian faith. Students who join the institution are expected to maintain good conducts, which are guided by the Holy Spirit.

Walden University prides itself on helping students accomplish their goals, and providing the necessary resources to succeed. The interconnection between Walden, my colleagues and myself, are all of equal value because one cannot properly function without the other. Therefore, when all three parts are simultaneously collaborating, it creates a harmonious equation for victory. Being able to find out and navigate the resources available through Walden, developing a positive and collaborative relationship with my peers, and being able to excel in an online work environment appropriately is the formula I need to achieve ultimate success.

I strongly believe that every failure is a learning experience that should be taken as a lesson to grow from. I previously attended a 4 year university that became too much for me; attending school full-time, working 35 hours per week while trying to figure out what it is that I really wanted out of this university experience. I ended up failing most of my classes, putting my health at risk drowned by the tremendous amount of stress and just wanted to completely give up. Looking for a fresh start I decided to leave my university, and attend Norwalk Community College. Though this decision created self-doubt in the beginning, it soon came to my realization that it was the best decision I ever made. Immersed in an environment full of positive people, I was able to grow from the experience.

Liberty University Online (LUO) is the largest private non-profit online university in the nation and the world’s largest Christian university. Founded in 1985 by Dr. Farwell and the people of Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia it now has an online enrollment of over 95,000 students. LUO offers over 232 online academic programs, with 100 concentrations. Seventy (70) of its academic programs are undergraduate, 138 are graduate, 2 are post master’s and 22 are doctorate degrees. Starting my journey at Eastern Michigan University I was fortunate enough to have received the Emerald Scholarship. This scholarship has greatly helped in decreasing costs of attendance. I have also been largely supported by my parents my first few years at this school. As I near my senior year, the financial responsibility of school has now become my own. While I welcome this responsibility, my need for financial aid is necessary as I am a full-time student and part-time employee at Boneheads BBQ. I would like to be able to keep my position working part-time to ensure that I am able to fully dedicate myself to my education.

What is the main thing that students look at before attending a school? Tuition fees. Everyone have a tendency of looking at the tuition fee and setting there life goal if they should spend that much just to attend school. On a Tulsa Community College site, the publisher of “Cost of Attendance” asserts that TCC offers the cheapest fee’s. As the publisher of the site, they state That the “Tuitions fees are $2,800” the “Book and Supplies are $1,560” the “Rooms are $8,694” the “Boards are $2,367” and “Transportation is $1,178”. These are by far the lowest prices to be observed for a high school senior. Tulsa Community College is really doing it’s best to help and support their students. I’m writing for a request of a reconsideration of my final grade (EDU 600 Professor Dresser). The last couple of months have been extremely difficult on my personal life. On April 20th my husband passed away and the week before graduation my farther fell ill. He suffered with violent seizures; I slept in the hospital (in a chair next to his bed) the week prior to graduation, only to leave to attend the ceremony. Four months to the day of my husbands passing my father passed but not without complications (Two intubation, tracheostomy and peg feeding tube). As his health care proxy I was left to make extremely hard decisions for his life.

I believe each and every student is capable of learning and achieving academic success, however some children require individualized support to ensure their success. A strength I posses that supports high academic expectations for all Houston ISD students is my ability to motivate and empower young children of all types to want to be successful. I am committed to creating a classroom culture where high expectations are set and most importantly constantly communicated to students. I have the ability to lead and differentiate engaging lessons where the diverse learning needs of all students are supported. I am a teacher that believes high academic expectations will be met when lessons are presented in a way that suits all learning styles. I use classroom management strategies to set students up for success.

The three colleges I have chosen to apply to are Hinds Community College Vicksburg-Warren Campus, Alcorn State University, and Copiah-Lincoln Community College. The reasons I have selected these three colleges are based on location, financially feasible and great reviews I have heard from others about their own personal experience or had a family member who attended one of these colleges. I have a handicap Uncle that I help take care of so I need to be close home in order to help my mother. I have talked with mother and a few friends about my interest and goals and I have their complete support in my endeavors. During the Fall semester of my junior year in my Biotechnology pathway, I gained the opportunity to take City College courses as part of the dual enrollment program at my high school. I enrolled into the Briefings in Biotechnology class (BTEC 5), via my teacher, in order to scope at the potential of biotechnology from external sources.

Although I live in a two parent household, I am only one of two college students in my family. Currently both of my parents are employed in Social Services, and unfortunately they do not have a lot of discretionary income to contribute financially to my college costs. I qualify for a partial Pell Grant, but I will still fall short of the total cost to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2016-17 school year. In order to avoid taking out a significant amount of loans, which will leave me in debt I have worked hard in the classroom to maintain a 4.0 GPA to qualify for merit based scholarships. Receiving The Joyce and Thomas H. Stanisic Memorial Scholarship will allow me to focus solely on my education rather than financing my education throughout my sophomore year of college.

When I was seven, I had to witness my older brother be kicked out of the house. This was such a traumatizing experience because my older brother was my role model. Additionally, as a young child, my little sister and I were frequently home alone due to my parents always working double shifts. Thus, once my brother left, I had to take on his responsibilities; consequently, I learned how to be a leader at a young age. This experience has allowed me to develop values such as excellence, leadership, truth and service that will contribute to the vision and legacy of Howard University.

I would like to start off this letter of appeal by thanking you for the opportunity to explain my past mistakes and outline my plans for improvement in upcoming semesters.

Concerning financial assistance, I am my mother’s oldest child. Therefore, I’ll be the first of my siblings to attend college. Due to the leadership position I carry over my younger sibling along with my yearning for more knowledge with rigorous criteria, I want to attend an accredited college. However, I’m associated with a racial minority group as an African American female. Therefore, I’ll be under-represented in school. On another note, I’ve been tremendously active in extracurricular organizations throughout my instruction resulting in multiple payments for dues, field trips, etc. Since my mother spends the bulk of her money on bills and student loan repayments, I’ve had to work starting at 11 years old to afford the activities that had my interest. Subsequently, every summer I’ve earned money by working extra shifts to eventually cover a portion of college tuition, fees, housing, books, and meal plans. Unfortunately, I cannot cover all of my schooling expenditures. Therefore, I am seeking financial aid.

I am international student that recently just graduated from Randolph College . My attendance to college was made possible by the generous support of the college in forms of scholarships and grants which greatly helped me. I received a total of $25000 of financial aid every school year. In addition to this , I was given a work study job that contributed to the payment of my college fees .
