My mom has been a single mom for eighteen years and has supported me, my brother, and grandparents. She does not receive child support on a regular basis and does everything on her own. During my time with the department I and one other former federal employee were able to get the wildland program up and running.  As a pack test administrator and M-410 instructor we were able to qualify 8 people to be hired as AD employees for the forest service. The eight individuals myself included were able to respond to fires as task force trainee's, crew bosses, firefighter type 2's on hand crews, engines, and emergency medical technician paramedics in Oregon, Idaho, California, and Alaska.  Some were also sent out as a crew to assist with hurricane Sandy in New York.  During my time on the department I was also a member of the state of Iowa region 4 disaster saw strike team.  This is a crew made up of all qualified fallers that respond to all natural disasters that have a need for saw work.  The team has been deployed to tornados, wind storms and ice storms within the region and sounding states.  My primary role on the team is to act as a faller 1 and squad boss to lead a group of fallers through the disaster area and complete assigned tasks removing any hazards that pose a risk to the infrastructure of the community while maintaining crew safety.  I have also been a unit instructor and field evaluator for new members during their S-212 class
