With the ever growing population of geese on SWIC Campus, we should know to leave them alone by now. You would think that our parents would have taught us that lesson, but as for the girl on campus that got attacked, the message wasn’t so strong. As far as the attack goes it is unworldly to say that it was the geese’s fault. After all, she “[...] has no one to blame but herself” (Smith). As fellow students at SWIC, we see geese on the day to day basis and if we had an issue with aggressive geese, attacks would occur more often. Therefore, “One incident is not enough, in my opinion, to call the situation an emergency”(Smith). If we categorize this as an emergency, we should do something to prevent it from happening again. These geese are not
I have a superstition, or phobia, called Anatidaephobia. In other words, it’s the fear a duck is always watching you. To most, this may seem like a joke, or some sort of satirical story, but it is no laughing matter. The duck starts as a funny prank that is being played on you, or maybe just part of your imagination. You see it in your dreams; in the background, behind the action. It just sits there, watching. You don’t notice it until you start looking. At that point, you can’t make it go away. It’s funny at first, that your brain would do this. After all, why would you see a duck. Soon a realization comes that it isn’t going away. It just sits there, plotting something, in your mind, the mind you deemed safe.
Since we don't have a meeting next week I figured I'd share my idea here. Maybe we could have a powder puff derby between us or host a powder puff derby for our service unit. I know it's a lot of work and we are already working on the take action project, but maybe we could split the work if we work together with another troop, like the one we did with the gift wrapping. For those who don't know, the powder puff derby is when you get a block of wood and decorate it any way you want and you make your own car and then on the day of the derby, you race against each other and then process of elimination see who's that fastest to determine the winner. But speed isn't the only thing that you could win by. You could win in other categories like most
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, on an island, without adult supervision, a little boy was murdered. But this case isn’t about that little boy, this case is about a little boy who is still alive and breathing. The prosecution is here to tell you that this 12 year old boy belongs in prison, possibly for up to 10 years, robbing him of his remaining childhood. Ralph has been accused of voluntary manslaughter. He has been accused of, in a fit of passion and fear, speeding Simon’s departure from this world. But if we examine the facts, we know he did not play an active role in the other young man’s death. It has been verified by multiple witnesses, including the now deceased Piggy that Ralph was outside the killing circle. He saw the act but he didn’t
Imagine a room full of people, tapping their feet, swaying back and forth to the sound of rock music on the speakers. Imagine them smiling as they throw their hands in the air. Now, imagine another room full of people, but not moving. They are all sitting, or standing. They talking to each other, but no one smiles. Which room do you want to be in? Well, the students of Bomont were not asked that question, they did not have a choice. In the movie Footloose, no on danced, or partied. All of these things were illegal, although that still did not stop them. The movie Footloose brought attention to immense topics such as rebellious behavior, religion, and speaking up for yourself and others.
Soaring through the sky hey what are they doing to my house it's getting chopped down yes that's right the Mexican spotted owl.
What can one learn from this violent tragedy, what mistakes did this instance have that can help evade other similar instances? It is commonly believed that there is no such thing as bad publicity, but maybe some schools would disagree with this statement, and take publicity more seriously than the welfare of their faculty, staff, and students. A school with a debauched reputation is not going to receive countless applicants, but is that a valid justification for not reporting disturbances and protecting their students? I believe that if turbulences exist, like a student threatening or shooting at people, schools should warn the cops right away. Mary Hoeft, a professor of communication arts and French at the University of Wisconsin – Barron County, wrote “Professors in the Crosshairs,” an article about incidents that have occurred at her school that should have been associated with the police. Hoeft addressed a situation that occurred at her school, where a disturbed young female student raged down the campus, yelling that she wanted to kill her English professor by aging her 120 years with a magic umbrella; luckily, the professor was out of town at a conference with
HOOK : You walk into the woods and see a giant great Dane with spots, long legs, flappy ears, WAY bigger than you, you’ve never seen such thing. Description
“Good Morning Birmingham today we will be getting a little into flappers on this cool fall day. Flappers are breaking the normal and changing the times no matter what anyone else says. For those that don't know, flappers by definition are fashionable young women whose only goal is to enjoy herself and go against what others tend to think is right. They are bringing up their hems and showing off their legs. The older generation look down upon this saying it’s not lady like and it must stop. But flappers have another idea in mind. They want freedom to do what they want, from being able to cut their hair short and going out all night. I have a flapper here with me in the studio and her name is Linda. How are you Linda?” I said.
In two different speeches by two different Native American chiefs, Chief Seattle and Red Cloud, a similar topic in that of the removal of Indians by the U.S. government, was addressed. However, the speeches by the two chiefs were very different, in terms of tone, figurative language, and the clarity of their message. In, "On the Red Man's Trail," Chief Seattle used much figurative language, especially similes, to get his point across. Some of the numerous examples are, "Yonder sky that has wept tears of compassion upon our fathers for centuries untold...," (paragraph 1) "My words are like the stars that never set," (paragraph 2) When our young men grow angry at some real or imaginary wrong, and disfigure their faces with black paint, their hearts also are disfigured and turn black...," (paragraph 6) "My people are ebbing away like the fast receding tide that will never flow again," (paragraph 12) and, "Some grim Fate of our race is on the Red Man’s trail, and wherever he goes he will still hear the sure approaching footsteps of his fell destroyer and prepare to stolidly meet his doom, as does the wounded doe that hears the approaching footsteps of the hunter." (paragraph 22) Meanwhile, in his speech after Wounded Knee, Red Cloud sparsely used figurative language. The vast majority of his statements were easy to comprehend and literal, with some examples being, "I will tell you the reason for the trouble. When we first made treaties with the Government, our old life and our

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Denver City Council, today I would like to talk to you about the city of Denver enforcing a dangerous dog law instead of breed specific legislation, because the enforcement of breed specific legislation is not the solution to dangerous dogs in the community. I plan on showing how Denver could change their law to make a difference to the quality of dogs living in this great city.
Any little child is able to connect the name Shamu to the massive black and white creatures that dwell in the ocean waters, termed orcas or killer whales. However, the recent release of the film “Blackfish” has aimed to revise the common opinion of killer whales who are known by the title Shamu. As the film strikes marine life parks such as SeaWorld with apparent reasons as to why these orcas should not be in captivity, the question of “Blackfish”’s validity arises. How truthful can a film be that was created to persuade its viewers to ceases visiting attractions such as the killer whale shows? Since the release of “Blackfish,” animal rights activist, writers, and amusement park aficionados have been expressing their speculations on the “Blackfish”
Ever since forty plus years ago Agriculturalists have shown a variety of show cattle and ran ranches with them. I showed cattle for a few years throughout my FFA experience. Cattle have played a huge role in our society feeding families and other people who reside in this world. Their effect on human culture is something that we take much pride in when raising our cattle whether it is for companion or meat products. Previous cattle showman know and strive to achieve the ultimate goal: winning grand champion. This reward is earned by having the best show calf in the ring to the judge’s perspective. In order to reach this goal, the exhibitor must use proper feeding methods and show technique. (Insert thesis here.)
Introduction: We meet people throughout lives that go above and beyond to the call of duty presented to them. Some people don’t expect or wish to have a child that ends up struggling throughout their lives no matter in what instance. No one wishes for that or expects it. Which is why I am presenting the Golden Goose for Lifetime Achievement Award to my father Reggie Smith. As a an incredibly patient man, it took 3 people to try his patience. Those 3 people, are my paternal grandmother, my mother, and myself. All 3 of us have varying severity levels of Bipolar Disorder. However, despite this misfortune of genetics, he was able to pull me and mother somewhat out of harm's way from our Bipolar Illness, however my grandmother developed dementia and has not been able to reason with anyone, but according to everyone who knew her when she was younger, she was no different. For this speech I will express in detail who my father is, what his life was like growing up, and what we share.
We at PETP ( People for Ethical Treatment of Pumpkins) wish to express our outrage at the inhumane and cruel treatment of our little orange friends at the hand of unethical and barbaric pumpkin hunters!
