In the 21st century, today there are many people thinks that we have achieved gender equality. There are laws that protect females from discrimination, unequal pay, rights, and freedoms. However, there are some impressions, ideas, or stereotypes that are deeply embedded in people’s minds which they think that males and females are not the same. For example, when we talk about mathematicians, engineers, or doctors, people tend to imagine them as males. On the other hand, when we talked about nurses, teachers, or babysitters, people tend to imagine them as females. The installations of gender roles in people’s minds are hard to change. Although the actual differences between males and females are small, people tend to focus on the small differences and exaggerate them. There are some common gender differences that people think and talk about frequently. When we think of males, many of us will think about adjectives such as strong, aggressive, analytical, logical, independent, and powerful. For females, some common adjectives to describe them are weak, passive, empathic, emotional, dependent, and nurturing. However, are all males and females having the same gendered traits, or they are just pressured to perform in such ways because they are expected to?
