Although there are many people that think otherwise, sports should definitely not be split up by genders. Splitting genders up could take away many opportunities for both genders to play different sports. It would be extraordinary for this to happen because it will open opportunities for both genders and teams could also be more competitive. The first reason why both genders should play sports together, is that it will open more opportunities. There are many girls that would love to play baseball or football. Also there are many boys that would love to play softball. The opportunities are endless for all the different sports that would become a lot more entertaining if both genders played sports together. Then you could see women throwing
Sports should not be co-ed, due to the differences in the capability levels of athleticism between females and males. Sports are based off of age and skill, but the female and male genders each have major differences in athleticism. Sports such as football include factors such as size, strength and quickness. The male and female bodies are developed differently creating an unfair advantage to the men. Men are born stronger than women due to their production of testosterone which helps build muscle. Women do produce testosterone, but very little of it making the men naturally stronger. Men just happen to have denser and stronger bones and ligaments than women, causing a higher risk of injury. It is much harder if men and women play on the
Throughout history, woman have been fighting for equality with men. This fight isn’t over and doesn’t stop with the right to vote or the right to wear pants. The progressive movements of feminism are starting to creep into younger generations, including, but not limited to young girls wanting to play on predominantly male-dominated sport teams. There are a lot of controversies when looking at this topic, saying there’s a natural strength advantage, it would be uncomfortable for a male to compete alongside females, among other reasons but ultimately, if the drive and effort is present, there are legal rights and no legitimate reason for woman to not be given the opportunity to prove themselves and normalize the incorporation of females to male sports.
Women can be just as good as men in sports, they just have to work a little bit harder because of the obstacles presented to them. Also, women’s inclusion in male dominated sports like major league baseball have nothing to do with their performance but with sexism. In 1931, a 17 year old girl by the name of Jackie Mitchell struck out Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig in the same day. A few days later her contract was voided with the excuse that women were too delicate to play. If little boys and girls played in coed sports from the beginning other than a few choice teams in elementary school there would be
Why girls and boys shouldn’t play sports together Boy and girls shouldn’t play the same sports together for several reasons. First, females might get more injuries than boys because some of them are more fragile. Next girls have some of their own sports like boys. Finally, people might get mad that girl’s are playing in boy’s sports.
I think that women should be allowed to play in any sports, and if it's a physical sport it should be a woman’s league. First, I think women should be able to do anything that men can do. Additionally, women should get paid the same amount that men gets for the same sport. To add, women are no different from men, so women can achieve anything that a man can achieve.
Ever since I was able to walk I have participated in sports from cheerleading, soccer, track, and etc. I remember after cheerleading practice, my friend and I would join the boys in a game of football. We were decent in football, but I felt we would have been better if we were part of the team. We wanted to drop cheerleading and join the football team, but there would be controversy within the community. Growing up I always wondered why there was a men’s football team, but never a women’s football team. There are usually a men and women’s team in every sport, except football. Therefor it is only right for women to have their own football team.
Although many people are biased to whether girls should be able to play sports with boys, there are many decisive reasons to make this official. This is a topic that not many people can agree with.
In the world of sports it started off that girls could never play sports and then in 1972 a public law called Title IX came to existence which allowed girls to play sports but not with boys. Today the question is asked should girls play on boys’ sports teams? One would think that girls should not play with boys on a sports team because boys are just naturally taller and stronger than women and they would dominate the girls in a fully contact sport. Another may think that if a girl is truly capable to play on an all boys’ sports team, then she should not be denied the opportunity to try out for an all boys’ team. Some other people may believe that sports at younger ages should remain co-ed because boys and girls body types are still
A mixture of females and males formed the teams when I was younger, but it all changed once we matured. The reason being that it would not be fair for boys to compete against girls, as a male myself we are typically more aggressive in nature, and have that killer instinct. When males and females get categorized into separate groups, the competition is more fair. This is why teams around the world get arranged based on gender. Competition is fair and balanced, this allows for woman to achieve records of their own.
People might still say that the segregation of genders in sports are making gender equality impossible, but the separation of genders in sports is not because one gender is better than the other. It is to ensure the fairness and equality. Women and men are naturally built differently and they both are both truly strong but in different ways. In order to keep sports fair, just and equal, the best thing to do is to keep sports separated by
The first reason is playing coed sports would have many advantages, one of them is that it increases the way that they distinguish themselves individually. Boys and girls like to play on the same teams because it gives them freedom to be with the opposite gender. Guys and girls hang out together outside of sports and teams, why not let them play a sport together. Statistics have shown that having coed sports reduces depression in girls and if in coed sports at an early age boys learn to respect girls sooner. This is one on of the few but very important reasons.
Men Vs. Women in Professional Sports Ever since the ancient Greece, men have held athletic competitions or sports. It is only in modern times that women have had an opportunity to compete. Most sports still don’t have men and women directly competing against one another. In the past athletic instructors adapted the rules to make sports less physically taxing for women. For instance in basketball, to ensure that girls maintain proper decorum, they were forbidden from snatching the ball and dribbling it more than three times in row. Females would not be considered strong enough to play a full-court basketball game until 1971. Women have struggled to be taken seriously as athletes for more than two centuries.
I think women should be included in all sports. There are always sports that women can’t do and I don’t think that’s fair. I don’t like that women are treated like they can’t do anything when in reality we can do anything if we set our mind to it. Since we excel at the sports that we are allowed play, women should be allowed to participate in them all.
No matter what is choosen, girls are still playing a “boys” sport. Boys don’t like it because we “can’t keep up” or “aren’t as physical”. All sports are physical, but all athletes need to decide how physical he/she wants to get. Girls should be able to play sports in order to stay active and fit; learn life skills, teamwork, and cooperation as well as achievements in work and school. Each athlete knows what it takes to become a better player or even to play the game. “You saw the ratings in Sochi. I think they were better than the men”(Colageo). In the Olympics, the women's team got the silver medal. Meanwhile, the men's team didn't get even get on the board.
Sexism limits our country. In a world where sexism still exists, women face challenges every day as they choose to embark in athletic activities. Even with the efforts of Title IX, which was established in 1972, there is not equality in sports for men and women. Sexism is real with stereotypes and discrimination on the basis of sex. Even with the high level of success reached by numerous female athletes of many different sports, male athletes always seem to have the upper hand. Whether it is pay, media, support, gear, or playing grounds, one sex always has the better of the two. Male athletes dominate a field that truly is shared by both sexes. What if we treated male athletes the way we treat female athletes? That is a world hard to imagine, and honestly, it shouldn't be. Through female athletes sharing their stories of unfair treatment and pay, sexism and generations of inequality in sports can be overcome.
