Shishir Acharya Government 2306-71003 Professor Sharifian 30 October 2017 Road to an Election Running for a Texas Senate is a challenging job. At first, you must win a primary election and get nominated from a party which you are affiliated to. After that, there comes a general election where you must fight against the other party’s nominees. In this campaign, a strong financial support is required. Candidates use their half of budget to gain voters by boosting media supports and spends other half to make voters aware about their party’s motto. The amount of money varies with different candidates. 1 “The amount a candidate spends per vote is based on three variables: how much a candidate fundraises, how much a candidate spends

I should create fundraising events to go door to door of different interest groups and business organization having similar political affiliation.
My political affiliation is towards Democratic party. 2 It stands for the women right to make a decision regarding her pregnancy. Abortion is a personal decision made by a woman, her family and her doctor so there should not be any interference of a political party or government. My platform would be legalization of abortion. 3 Interest groups that would support me in this campaign are NARAL pro-choice Texas and Planned Parenthood Texas. Both interest groups stand for the right of women to make a decision on her pregnancy. 4 Interest groups that would oppose me are Texas right to life committee and Republican National Coalition for life PAC. Their motto is to defend the life of innocent human being. They believe that our life is a gift from God and he has only the power to take the life from us.
Campaign SLOGAN is very essential to reach out to the voters. It incorporates the summary of the party principle. My SLOGAN would be “Let us bring a change together”.
Everyone of us should stand together for the right of women to make her choice on abortion. There should be no any barrier to stop her in making her personal decision.
Newspaper, official and celebrity has a high following of people, so it will be very easy for me to get my message to the voters. I will try my best to aware people about my party goals through
Being a female in today’s society, I personally do not counsel abortion but it should available for women who want it. Abortions can be very unfortunate, but women should have the right to receive one despite others views about it. Actually, studies show that only 52 percent say they know someone who has had an abortion (Traister). There are far bigger issues to worry about than whether if a woman wants to keep her child or not. Essentially, nobody should be telling anybody how to live their life. I do not agree with extremists against abortions because they harshly judge women who get abortions, calling them “killers”, or telling them they will go to hell. Everyone makes mistakes and we are all not perfect. Additionally, there can be many reasons behind why a woman wants an abortion such as the fear of transmitting STD’s, living in an abusive house or dangerous area, birth defects, being raped, or not being
Women should not be able to make decisions about how to live their lives. Clearly, by the looks of the statistics, with approximately 42 million abortions a year, women are foolish. Women should not have the option of deciding when or whether to have children. They do this by making choices regarding when to have sexual intercourse and what contraceptive methods to use. The government should have all the power to make these decisions. Abortion reflects a women's value, her family, and her career.
In the following essay I will be talking about the disadvantages and advantages of partisan elections for state politics. I will also examine the last couple year's election results and costs. Finally, I will discuss if partisanship made a difference in the vote, as well as if a judge should be decided by partisan vote. In the next couple paragraphs I will talk more specifically about these topics.
Hyosang You GOVT-2306-71001 Professor. Sharifian Assignment Two: 1 The Campaign Before running for the office in Texas. First, we need to decide which party to run for between the House of the Representative or Senate. According to the chart that was provided for the candidates spend in 2016, the average cost for the Senate is about a dollar per vote. Political parties mobilize voters to win elections and implement policy goals. Parties use their stated policy goals (i.e., their platforms) as a way to mobilize voter support. Generally, in order to be successful in a two-party system, parties must have policy goals across a broad range of issue areas to appeal to a broad range of voters.
Amit Sharma Paudyal Prof. Sharifian GOVT 2306 17 Nov. 2017 Committees of Texas House of Representatives After winning the election, there are many committees which we can serve. As a Texas House of Representative, I would like to serve on committees related to Higher Education, Transportation, and Public Health.
The Campaign According to the Texas Tribute website, Texas candidates have spent from $0 to $70,805.43 that in from $0 per vote to $61.52 per vote in 2016 general election. Analyzing the website, I figured out that the most important aspect to win the election is not the amount spent but the strategies used. 1 Brandon Creighton has spent $0.39 per vote that is $93,194.21 and has been elected as a Texas senate in district 4. Carlos I. 1 Uresti has spent 243,160.84 that is $1.82 per vote and has been elected. As I am going to run as a Texas senate, I plan to spend about 150,000.
Mohan Karki Prof. Sherry Sharifian Govt 2306 30 Oct. 2017 Running for Texas State Senate Texas is divided into many city, county, districts where a person, who is resident for at least 1 years and citizen of United States can run for the office. There are different offices like United State Representative, Railroad Commissioner, Texas Governor, Texas State Senate, District Judge and so on in Texas. To run for this kind of organization a person should spend a hundred of dollars to promote and other activities. A report from the Texas Tribune shows that Kenneth Sheets, Texas House representative spend $548,844.71 and it cost $20.32 per vote (Essig). 1 This is just one example of how much it can cost to run for one office. Thus, I
The ongoing dispute of abortion has condemned the idea of women aborting their unborn child. Whether it be lack of support, critical physical or mental health, rape, or not being ready for such responsibility - all women have a reason for having an abortion. Therefore, women should have the free will to do what proves necessary and beneficial to themselves and their pregnancy.
Sabya Poudel Prof. Sherry Sharifian GOVT 2306-71426 October 29, 2017 The Champaign I would seek to run for the U.S House of Representative from Texas. I plan to have a cost of $18 per vote. As we know, different factors influence the cost of running for the office in Texas. The factor includes number of votes and the amount of resources that the candidates puts on. In my case, the number of votes that I would secure and resources that I have would seek to influence my spending levels. The campaigns that are targeted to national levels can be higher costs as compared to the district levels. Being a new person in the race would mean that I would have to invest more expenses as compared to incumbent individuals. 1 According to The

Through every choice in life, there is a decision that must follow. Abortion is a woman’s individual choice; therefore, must be a legal part in todays society. Individual rights have an outstanding role in the controversial topic, on whether abortion should become legal in the United States . The individual rights for abortion show rights of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. As well, women should be able to have the choice to choose to have an abortion for several important reasons. The right to make these decisions should lie in the hands of the “mother” to make decisions concerning their own to make decisions concerning their own bodies. In addition, women should be given the choice to have an abortion if they are too young
Abortion rights are one of the most heatedly debates in society. There are many arguments for and against abortion. Each woman has the right to an abortion and the right to have a child. Women have the resources, rights, and respect to make reproductive health decisions that are best for themselves. (“Women’s”) We live in a free country and women should continue to have the choice to do whatever with their body, concerning women’s rights, health issues, and religious reasons.
The election process in the United States is a valuable process to the election of the proper officials to satisfy the people. The people run the country which is why we live in freedom because we control what happens with major decisions by choosing whom we want to decide these decisions. The whole country goes to vote on a certain day and by the end of that day we will vote to select who will run the country, state, county, or city political positions. The most complex decision and one with the biggest impact are selecting who the President of the United States shall be. We examine what their views are and who would do a better job. Then vote in our respected states with a certain number of electoral votes
Reform agendas presented by the candidates result in vibrant democratic politics, which requires the conscious participation of citizens. It provides a chance for citizens to engage in political activity with others. Political campaigns enable the citizens to contribute to the nomination process thus choosing the best candidate in their party. American politics involves candidates who mostly make unambiguous statements thus conveying their message to the citizens effectively. This means that the citizens have a solid basis on which to make decisions during the nominations and the elections. Distortions in communication due to misstatements are reduced by the accuracy and lack of ambiguity in information communicated the candidates (Schmidt, Shelley, & Bardes, 2009). The campaigns are effective since they result in the election of candidate with the most promising policies and reforms. The focus of the campaigns is national and social issues, which results in election and nomination of candidates that are nationalistic and with ideologies that are acceptable by most of the citizens.
