In Genesis 18:1-15, Jesus visits Abraham, along with a monumental message about the future. God makes a promise to Abraham, that is relatively impossible. The promise results in Abraham's wife showing disbelief against God. Since she was elderly, she disbelieved that something such as this could ever happen. In Luke 1:37, it says, "for nothing is impossible with God". Sarah did not believe that God could do the impossible, and years later the impossible happened
In Genesis 15 the Lord visited Abram in a vision telling him not to be afraid because He is there to protect Abram. During this vision Abram mentions to the Lord that he’s childless and his only heir will be his servant. The Lord tells him not to worry because he’s going to have many children. Abram then asked Him how he could get possession of the land that He promised Abram. God told Abram to bring him a heifer, a goat and a ram, each three years old, along with a dove and a young pigeon. Abram then brings the animals to him and cuts the goat, heifer and ram in half. At night a dreadful darkness came over him and at the same time the Lords pays Abram a visit. He gives him an idea of what the future looks like for his descendants. God tells
“The Lord saw that the wickedness of humankind was great in the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of their hearts was only evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that he had made humankind on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. So the lord said, ‘I will blot out from the earth the human beings I have created-people together with animals and creeping things and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.’ But Noah found favor in the sight of the Lord.”(Genesis 6:5-8)

Robert states in chapter one that “Genesis 1-2, the first two chapters of the bible show us God’s original, perfect creation” (27). In this chapter he goes into depth about the creation of the world. Roberts gives us four truths about creation.
Genesis 18 is the story of Abraham and his three mysterious visitors. This one of the many complicated text in the Bible. Many faiths and researchers have different interpretations of this passage. However, the question, which we must ask, is; what are the scriptures in Genesis 18 trying to say? It is not as clear as other literature text that are read today there are many questions that arise from this passage such as who were there three men? Where was Sarah? How did Abraham know they were messengers from God?
It is fair to assume that because of their different tasks, they spent their working hours in very different environments, had to adopt different ways of dressing, used different tools, and perhaps even had different diets and associations. The exact reasons are not given to us in the immediate account but Cain’s elements were not accepted favorably and ‘… the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering.’ (Gen 4:4, KJV). For that, Cain became visibly and aggressively upset. Apparently he was not happy that his way was not given the respect of being the central standard and over time did rise up and kill Abel. They were siblings living in the same household, under the same guidance and direction yet they both worked and identified their
Just like how a child becomes fascinated after hearing stories of their babyhood, or how a family is eager to discover their genealogy, the book of Genesis is a very intriguing story to many Christians because it depicts how mankind and the world around them were formed. Genesis 1-3 allow a base knowledge for understanding the rest of the bible because it portrays the way that God created the world – how it was supposed to be and why the world is the way it is today. After God spends six days working on creating his idea of a perfect world, it says “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good,” (Genesis 1:31). However, as Eve disobeyed God’s word and listened to the deceitful serpent, God knew he needed to punish Adam and Eve in order
Looking at genesis chapter 5 we see a genealogy which predominantly runs along a set format that is consistent in its style, there are three exceptions to that format in this chapter. The format is after A lived for number of years, he became the father of B then lived another number of years having other sons and daughters, A lived a total of years, and then he died. This gives us the pattern of full and meaningful lives which end with completion, we are given the one exception to this which gives us the suggestion that maybe death is not the last word for us, perhaps there is more.
Did He trick me into a rosy belief in Him? I have been a Christian for over four decades, and I still
1-2: The phrase “after these things” refers to the vision of Babylon’s demise in Revelation 18:20-24, as this is the chapter now tells of the destruction of the beast and the false prophet. Since the voice is described “as a great voice” instead of simply a great voice, this may inform the reader that the speaker is a heavenly host telling John of heavenly realities. The praise that is offered is because of God’s “true and righteous” judgments, which references Psalm 19:9. God has given the great prostitute what she deserves by avenging the blood of the saints, in Greek “exacted in retribution,” which references Genesis 9:5, as the great harlot pays for her unholy spilling of blood in full.
After reading Genesis 1-3, The Creator and Sustainer! In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Gen. 1:1) and then he sat back and watched his creation transform. From the word of His mouth, God created all that we see. The sun, moon and stars, the animals and plants. God truly is Lord and the Creator. We need to remind ourselves that we are part of God's creation. Even when you don't feel worthy we need to remember He is there for us.
Genesis 5 : 1 – 3 tells about the generation of Adam after God created them in His likeness. Through this passage we can see that Adam is the head of humanity. Adam fathered a son in his own likeness, after his image. All of people are in Adam’s genealogy, because Adam generated a son, and so the son did the same thing as Adam’s have done.
In my reading on the Genesis stories 1-22, I thought something that stands out to me is how God is depicted in comparison to humans in the first story compared to later stories. God creates the world by taking a dark chaos and turns it into a beautiful garden where humans can flourish. In the first genesis story God states after finishing creating the world in seven days that it’s good. “And God saw that this was good” Seven times this text appears implying that God saw everything he made as perfectly good. This is where we meet the human characters in the bible, Adam and Eve. Adam is the Hebrew word for humanity and Eve is the Hebrew word for life, and God created them in his own image. In other words, humanity reflects or is meant to reflect
The book of Genesis is one of the five books in the Pentateuch, and it is the first book that depicts how God really like. Through chapters 1 to 11, the dominant image I have of God is a generous human being. Also, the aim of the author(s) to write what was written possibly is to introducing the origin of how the earth was created and what have happened that lead to the world right now.
The book of Genesis forms part of a series of ‘historical’ books that begins with the creation story and ends with the destruction of the kingdom of Judah (6BCE.) These narrated events are in a chronological sequence (Barton 2001:38).It is the first book of the Old Testament and Pentateuch (Barton 2001:12) . Jews name these five books the Torah or ‘the law’(Holdsworth 2005:71). The passage(Gen22:1-19) reveals God’s relationship through a trial with a major character, Abraham. Key themes that are central to the Pentateuch lie within the passage; the sovereignty and grace of God; sacrifice and obedience; the establishment and reaffirming of covenants and the redeeming nature of God. What lies before and after
