Many people feel genetic engineering is an interference with natural conception. Some believe that once the egg gets fertilized by the sperm the human is created and should not be messed with because it was created specifically to be a new person. If you change the genetics of the embryo than that soon to be human will never be the unique person he/she was suppose to be.

The ethical question is clear: should money be invested in human genetic engineering and should we research it at all, even if it is formally criticized by all monotheistic religions?
