A Possible Hidden Threat Some subjects are better left unsaid; however, when it concerns the heath of millions of people, it should be common knowledge. It is acknowledged in every country that citizens are not privy to everything their government owes. For the most part, this is an accepted part of life as widespread dissemination of the information could lead to a safety risk or do more harm than good. Unfortunately, the matter of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) being used in food in countries around the world is not shared knowledge, even when it can potentially lead to harmful effects. The use of GMOs in an everyday meal is a controversial trend with a growing audience attempting to uncover the dangerous effects of the biotechnology and how it changes life for the worse. The topic of GMOs and health awareness was buried and held a minimal concern with people until it began to be more frequently questioned in this era. The scientific and unnatural creation of a Genetically Modified Organism begins with, “… inserting a gene from an external source such as viruses, bacteria, animals or plants into usually unrelated species” (Maghari & Ardekani, 2011, p. 109). When a person discovers that this biotechnology is located in their consumed meals, they likely become disgusted and dig for more information regarding GMOs.
