George and Lennie have a very strong and special bond that is formed throughout this book, it’s formed on the foundation of hard work and a dream to buy a little ranch and live off of what the earth produces, such as crops and plants. On that ranch they plan to have animals such as chickens, rabbits, cows, etc they especially want to have their own ranch because no one tell them what to do. They can live by their own terms, make their own money, and most importantly they can never get kicked off their own ranch. The most important factor of George and Lennie’s relationship is their unity. They always stay together, which is very rare because men in this book usually stay by themselves so they don’t have to share anything such as money and food. …show more content…
I could live so easy and maybe have a girl”. Although what he says may be true he stays with him because he promised Lennie’s aunt Clara that he will look after him, so he feels the responsibility to keep his word. Apart from this, he also can’t live without Lennie’s companionship as damaging as it may be on George’s reputation. George and Lennie have lots of issues and problems individually but combined they have lots of strengths. For example George is wise and has an attitude but is weak, Lennie is retarded and the nicest person but gets bullied around by people that are smaller than him but are as strong as a bull. “Maybe he ain’t bright, but I never seen such a worker”. As for George, he is wise and warns Lennie of future problems such as Curley’s wife, “well, you keep away from her, ‘cause she’s a rat trap if i ever seen one he tells Lennie this because he predicts something bad is going to happen if he keeps giving attention to her.Everybody on the ranch has very different and unique personalities and Characteristics , but George and Lennie stand out from the crowd. He can rarely think for himself and make his own decision. “I want you to stay with me, Lennie. Jesus Christ, somebody’d shoot you for a coyote if you were by yourself” (Steinbeck, p. 14). George does not trust lennie to live by himself. He thinks Lennie would not be able to hold his own and get a job. George is sympathetic towards lennie so he lets lennie stay with him. Lennie Would make a mistake like touching a girl for too long and hurting her which would cause everyone to run after him and he could not do that without George. This makes us sympathetic toward george because he makes bad decisions and gets himself into a lot of
George is small and very sharp, an opposite to Lennie his traveling friend. George's personality shows anger and understanding. Of the two of them, he is the one who thinks things through and figures out how their goals can be reached. Once Candy makes it possible for them to have a ranch, George finds where they will get the ranch, how long they need to work to pay for it, and how they will have to keep it to themselves in order for it to work for the next month.
“...in 1913, the passing of the Mental Incapacity Act in Britain led to around 40,000 men and women being locked away…” (NewStatesMan) That was a ton of mental people being locked up because they weren’t “useful” or “any good”. Of Mice and Men, written by John Steinbeck describes how two men, George and Lennie, have a dream to one day own a farm and have the American Dream. Lennie isn’t exactly like the other guys at the ranch. He faces many difficulties unlike the others.
George obviously did not mean this because he continually repeats that even though Lennie is not the brightest and is unaware of his own strength he is a nice guy, takes orders, and produces great work. Another conflict the duo face is Curley, a vain and shallow young man who happens to be the ranch owner’s son. He constantly picks on the men but mostly Lennie because of his

George and Lennie’s relationship is different to the other transient workers, in the way of their history together. George and Lennie grew up together and he always looked out for Lennie, which is why he promised Lennie’s Aunt Clara before she died, that he would look after him, as Lennie was child-like and therefore incapable towards taking care of himself; “You’re Aunt Clara wouldn’t like you running off by yourself, even if she is dead”. It suggests that there is a bond because of Aunt Clara and how George is the only other person who really knew how to treat and handle Lennie. This is why during the great depression they went to California to work at a ranch. This is where George really took the lead role as a father figure and had the

Would you ever murder for the ones that you love? This is exactly what George from Of Mice and Men did. It wasn’t what you would typically think of when you think of love. It wasn’t the kind where you fall in love, get married, and have kids. It was the type of love that can only occur between a bond that is so strong that nothing can tear you apart, the bond of brotherhood.

Man often don't stay in one place long enough to form a loving relationships, this is seen through George, Lennie and the other workers. Lennie and George are the only one who has a relationship as family while the other men in the ranch do not have any type of relationship in the novel. Most males that dominate or have power in the ranch are particularly selfish and do not form any loving relationships because it would become difficult for them to look after their partners, but George and Lennie travel together “It hard to see guys travel together”. The two encountered countless difficulties while on the farm, such as Curly and and flirtatious wife.
George always has to keep track of Lennie and know where he is most of the time because Lennie is a big problem for George. Lennie is a bit different, Lennie is lonely, but he doesn’t understand that he is. Lennie has a personality of his own, he goes by what George has to say. But George and Lennie have a true friendship and that’s what most of the men on the ranch do not have. Lennie is always there to keep him where he needs to be most of the time, while George is there for Lennie to make sure that he does not get into any trouble.
These two have a true friendship, Lennie is there to keep George sane, while George takes care of Lennie. Additionally, they both enjoy talking to each other which made them less lonely than all of the others on the ranch. Before they arrive at the ranch, George tells Lennie, “With us it ain’t like that. We got a future. We got somebody to talk to that gives a damn about us.”(pg
