After reading The Longest War I had a pretty good understanding of how other countries viewed 9/11 and how they responded to it. Then after reading many different articles on the Library Research Page it made it clear why these countries felt the way they did. On the research page, I researched George Bush, Osama Bin Laden, Al-Qaeda, Tora Bora, World News to 9/11 in 2001, Guantanamo Bay and The Patriot Act. I researched many different types of articles which helped give me a better perspective on how other countries reacted to 9/11 and the events that followed. The first person I researched was George Bush because it seemed interesting to me what other countries thought of our new president and how he was dealing with what happened on 9/11/. Australia had a few quotes from Bush’s previous speech like “this year ends with progress on the battlefield and accomplishment at home”. They responded to this up by saying electing a new president and going into a new year in war is not ideal but they are very confident in the United States. Next I researched what other countries thought about Al-Qaeda because I knew how we felt about them and now have an idea about how the rest of the world feels but I knew their news would give me a better understanding. Again, I looked to see what Australia’s feeling were about Al-Qaeda. Surprisingly to me they didn’t think the United states was doing enough to bring Al-Qaeda down.
