The book’s speaker is from a third person perspective who describes and writes about Louis’s life. The intent of the writer is to share what it is like going from a normal life to becoming a prisoner of war. It allows the reader to feel what it was like to go from a normal life to a POW. The intended audience for the book would be anyone who wants to know about the military and/or World War II. Not only does it describe the experience of it all, but it allows the reader to empathize and sympathize with the book.
