In as long as they are seen to be doing their job it does not matter if the end product is suspect or unwholesome. For them “the end justifies the means”. There will be a product, which will be unwholesome but they will finish their quota and get paid.
In the second scenario, the very thought of either themselves or the consumers consuming a maggot filled milkshake is unacceptable. Consequently, production must be halted and the production line cleaned. This will take some time, inevitably resulting in them not meeting their quota and going home late. They will also affect the other shift resulting in possible censure from their managers. The overall good effect is that the customer will get a wholesome healthy product. That is the right thing to do. This is the Deontological ethical approach to management.
In conclusion, in life or in business as in this case, one must put others before themselves. In the deontological approach it is important to have consideration of the effects to others. It should no be about what one is gaining as an individual. One must look at the bigger picture, which is doing what is

This is the method to solve the problem at the end result. This will help company get rid of employees who have an unethical attitude. Throughout the ages there have been many great leaders. These leaders are powerful in many ways, with a strong control over the people, and a place in history. But who would have guessed that two cousins would be some of the greatest government figures ever? Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Theodore Roosevelt, both American presidents, both American Heroes. Without these dignitaries, the American advancement into the present day would be incomplete and/or impossible. They gave people hope through hard times and the spirit to protect their country and one another.
When faced with adversity and difficult dilemmas, people have different ways to figure out what to do; some people make pros and cons lists while other people just go with their gut. Ethical theories like utilitarianism and deontology, can aid people in making these difficult choices. Utilitarianism focuses on the results of your actions, rather than the intent behind them, as the goal of the theory is the create the greatest good for the greatest amount people. On the other hand, deontology follows a strict moral code concentrating on the right or moral action rather than the results it yields. While utilitarianism and deontology focus on different aspects of decision making, the effect and the intent respectively, they often yield the same result; more often than not the more ethical decision leads to the greater result. These ethical theories are both used in Snow Falling on Cedars by David Gunderson where they both agree on the topics, yielding the same results.
“Deontology is a moral theory that emphasizes one’s duty to do a particular action just because the action, itself, is inherently right and not through any other sorts of calculations – such as the consequences of the action” (Boylan, 2009, p. 171). In many aspects deontology is contrasted with utilitarianism. Deontology is based upon principle and does not calculate the consequences (Boylan, 2009, p. 171). Deontology attracts those seeking a stronger moral attraction because it refers to commanding rather than commending and commanding is a stronger structure (Boylan, 2009, p. 172). The

John Steinbeck was a famous American author who wrote from the 1920 to the 1940. Steinbeck was constantly moving across the country trying to succeed as a writer. John Steinbeck lived a life of constant up and downs, successes and failures before he landed on his feet and became a famous author.
According to theory of utilitarianism an action is ethically right if its lead to happiness, and wrong if it ends in unhappiness. The general concept behind Virtue Ethics is that it emphasizes on what the individual should select fortheir own personal behavior instead of the individual depending solely on theexternal laws and customs of the person's culture. Deontological thinking isconstructed on the fact that we have a duty to do certain things and to not do certainthings. Deontologists do not look at how much good might be caused by an action. They look at the action itself, deciding whether it is prohibited or made obligatoryby one of their rules.
The management of this corporation, however, was only interested in in the nightly completion of production orders and the cleanliness of equipment at the end of the shift. Eastern Dairy seemed to have a singular focus on economic responsibility, at the expense of ethical responsibility. This influenced Paul’s mindset about his own responsibility during the shift and his decision during the ethical situation described the case. The ethical situation arose when, during one of the shifts, George discovered that the pipeline filters were becoming clogged up with solid matter composed of maggots that have gotten into the mix running through the production line. This disconcerted George, but Paul told him that maggots occasionally got into the bag of ingredients for the mix and that the filters would catch them. George stopped the pumps, cleaned the filter and the equipment was restarted. However, it soon became apparent that the filters kept clogging up, and the process of continuously cleaning them would not allow the workers to run the last 500 gallons of the mix. At this point, Paul told George to run these 500 gallons without the filters, claiming that the rest of the process will pulverize the maggots and kill any bacteria. George, however, felt uneasy about this, thinking about the kids who would drink the milkshakes
Paul Levy’s strong transformational leadership style facilitated Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) from ailing to thriving. The organization faced many dire issues including financial crisis, poor quality of patient care, and low staff morale. This grim outlook required a strong transformational leader. Milton Friedman has been credited with many different achievements, including being one of the most effective advocates of economic freedoms and free enterprise, being the greatest economist to ever walk the face of the earth, and proving every single word that Lord Maynard Keynes ever said to be wrong. Why these may or may not all be true, it is obvious that Friedman was a brilliant man of many accomplishments.
“I have lost something...It’s never too late to get it back,” stated Lester Burnham, the main character of American Beauty. American Beauty is a 1999 film that provides a look into the lives of a modern married couple that is dealing with issues within their relationship. As the story progresses, it is easily identifiable that the roles of the husband and wife are not what the viewers would expect. On the other hand, the homosexual couple presented throughout the movie seems to be the normal pair. Furthermore, society’s definition of beauty and contentment is questioned. Throughout American Beauty, the homosexual couple has a healthier relationship than the heterosexual couple and beauty is falsely represented.
This paper argues that the best way for business to operate is based on deontology because motives comes first than the action and motives determines the quality of action and thus the quality of results.
There are several theories that try to explain the morality of the actions; however, two stand out. the first is deontology, and the other one is utilitarianism. The former follow the idea that the consequences of you action hold no importance in what we ought to do. But rather, some actions are morally wrong or good by itself. The latter follows an opposite view in which the consequences of an action are what it makes an action moral. Specially, if that action produce the greatest happiness over unhappiness. In this essay I will focus on two Utilitarianism ramifications, act utilitarianism and rule utilitarianism. They both agree that consequences must be the greatest factor in deciding what we ought to do. Nonetheless they have one big difference. Rule Utilitarianism generalize acts and recreate the consequences of a rule. If the consequences are ultimately favoring, then it is morally right. By way of contrast, Act Utilitarianism evaluate each action individually, and similar situation would have different outcomes depending on the situation. There is no universal rule unlike rule utilitarianism.
There are many of sociology's founding figures that have extremely well-built ideas, practices and studies that I could explore, but one renowned philosopher stands out amongst the crowd, and that person is named Karl Marx (1818-1883). In this essay I aim to explore and critically assess his ideas, theories, and studies in his contribution to sociology, and if his ideas, theories and studies are useful to this contribution to sociology.
