George Washington, rewarded for his superior leadership skills, was granted the tremendous responsibility of the position of President of the United States. No ordinary man could bear this weight alone, with the exception of the strongest of the strong. George Washington, “Father of the Nation”, is a stronger president than Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson for multiple reasons such as, being a powerful military strategist and a stronger national leader. It is no doubt Washington was a powerful military strategist. He turned the tides of battle by deciding to carry out unorthodox attack options, such as taking the Delaware River for a surprise attack that ended up deciding the war (Source 2, ¶ 5). Before he was a great political leader, he learned the art of war by doing while serving in the French and Indian war. The sheer respect that he earned was rewarded with the title commander in chief of the American Army. After serving as the Commander in chief in the war, he was needed by an entire nation and filled the position accordingly. While he was the President, he signed many treaties that secured peace for years to come and set the metaphorical bar high for Presidents yet to serve. He is considered to be the father of this nation and rightly so. Strangely enough, some people claim that Jefferson was the stronger National leader, but he was not the superior leader. Jefferson was a philosopher and a scholar, he built a college, participated in the drafting of the constitution, and also built the American Library System (Source 3,¶ 4).
