After WW1, Germany had nothing left. They signed the Treaty of Versaille causing them to lose everything. Germany was forbidden to have submarines or an air force. They were only allowed a navy of six battleships, and an army of just 100,000 men. They had to give up land and pay a huge amount of lump sum causing them to go into debt. Their economy was ruined and Hitler took this to his advantage. Germans were hurt and ashamed by the first major defeat to their nation in over a century and were looking for answers. Hitler was an extraordinary speaker and had the ability to convince the Germans. He convinced them that he could take them out of their misery. Hitler capitalized on Germany's feeling of having been wronged. The loud projection of his voice and emphasis really invoked a feeling of dedication among the audience, so many believed that he was the solution to the economic and political problems Germany faced. He told them they deserved their land back, that they hadn't deserved the unfair treatment they got, and that he would lead them back to greatness. He told Germans what they wanted to hear. He restored the spirits of many Germans were were depressed and angry from WW1 and the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler promised to improve the economy and make Germany just as powerful, if not more, as it used to be. This appealed to many Germans because they were suffering greatly and wanted out. The Germans hated the Jews and Hitler promised to get rid of them because they were blamed for losing WW1. His public speakings made his followers increase in numbers and the wealthy gave money and supported Hitler to run his propaganda and election campaigns.
