“ Get Acquainted Day” began over 35 years ago. Mass, another program on campus, provided this day for new students, transfers, faculty and staff, to mingle with new people and get to know more about different organizations on campus. You will see a variety of different clubs, fraternities, and sororities. They’re all very excited to tell you about their organization and made it so hard for you not to want to join them all. During my time at Get Acquainted Day, I spoke with several organizations. The first organization I spoke with was the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Most of the Zeta’s are currently students at Central Michigan and celebrating 11th chapter! Now this wasn’t my first time speaking with the Zeta’s, I met with these women during the IMPACT program and I also came in touch with them at Main Stage. Immediately when I walked to their table they were full of excitement and recognized me from the previous times I spoke with them. Something that I learned new about the women of Zeta Phi Beta is that they were first of many sororities to collaborate with another organization; the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity . Together they have worked on various of community service projects, local activities and share a brother and sisterhood bond like no other. …show more content…
Career Services is an organization where they help students like myself, to not only find jobs and internships on campus but help you develop a proper resume and offer tips that can help you nail any job interview. While talking with one of the career coaches; Mr. Andrew Ward. He began explaining the many jobs that Central Michigan has to offer. Mr. Ward also made statements about the different internships that you could apply for to help you get more experience with your desired major. I was so pleased with the information from the Career Services table, and will be sure to visit there office to get more help with furthering my
The purpose of this letter is to inform you of my interest in becoming a member of the Nu Zeta chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. My desire to have the opportunity to become a brother of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity incorporated is grounded on encounters, characteristics and the prestige purpose and history of the fraternity.
Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Incorporated purpose is to be of service to all mankind dealing with critical issues in communities domestically and internationally. What I have grown to understand an envision a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated to be, I accredit largely to the ladies of the Gamma Theta chapter. This has the result of attending many of the chapter’s events during my time at Hampton thus far. One of my favorite events was a screening of a documentary Girls Rising. I learned to appreciate every opportunity to learn and gain knowledge because in some parts of the world girls are restricted from receiving an education. A
When one first thinks of Greek life or a sorority the only thing that comes to mind is the social aspect. Most people don’t think of sororities as social institutions that envelop their own culture, with mannerisms, languages and customs that are unique to each individual organization. However, these institutions promote a common set of values that enable members to become connected in a way that has a more profound meaning than just social interaction. Greek organizations are good examples of how institutions can affect and be affected by social status and roles within the collegiate community. They are also a prime example of how race, class and gender can affect a social setting in both positive and negative manners.
I have selected my interviewees based on their affiliation with Greek Life and their availability to be interviewed. I will be talking to two fraternity men, two sorority women, and two people that aren’t associated with Greek Life in order to gather a variety of information. I chose to interview two of each type of person so that I would be able to get more than one type of perspective for each group. Of the two fraternity members I interviewed, one was a full brother in one of the active chapters on my campus. The other was one of my own brothers and since we are in a colony, we aren’t brothers but we also aren’t pledges, which gives us a unique outlook on Greek Life. The two sorority members that I interviewed were also very different. The first woman I interviewed is a sister in one of the active chapters on campus. The other had just recently dropped her letters due to time
Ever since I was a little girl I have always wanted a daughter. I want to be able to have a shopping buddy and someone to gossip with. I want to be able to teach her life lessons and how to be a successful person. I want to help her with all her problems, even boy trouble. When my daughter starts to date she must follow certain rules.
When I was sixteen years old my mom finally agreed to let me go on my first date. I dreamed about going on a date since I started high school. I always hoped for my first date to be like a scene out of Nicholas Spark’s movie The Notebook. Although I knew the day would come, I was inpatient because all my friends had boyfriends except me. I can still remember my first date as if it was only yesterday.
Is there anyone who did not have “Love” in his life? Love is one the most powerful words that we could hear and it is an important element in our life. It is the first feeling that you have been treated by since you were born and opened your eyes. Could you count how many love words that you heard in your life? I do not believe you can because of how many times it has been said to you by your parents or relatives. The first people who love in your life are your parents. They loved you before you were born and they had all that much of love since they loved each other and decided to have a son or daughter.
The clock of fifth period ticks by at an agonizingly slow rate, and I can't help but tap my nails across my desk in anticipation. It begins to feel like time is frozen forever, when finally, the bell sounds. I breathe a sigh of relief and bolt out of the classroom to my bus. “Pentatonix tour dates are out by now… what if they don't have a show here?” I worry. I hear the thumping of my heart, and my breath is caught in my throat, until finally, I see the tour page; Pentatonix is coming to Columbus, Ohio. Employing all of my strength, I suppress the giddy screech attempting to escape me. Grinning to myself I think, “I get to see them live! They’ll be right there!” Unfortunately, that optimistically sweet train of thought made an abrupt stop
A woman's first date is a day she will always remember. I was 14 years old, and I was so eager to jump into the drama infested dating scene. I met a boy who I soon convinced to take me on a date to the summer fair, but since we were hardly teenagers and had never set foot in the driver's seat of a vehicle, his mother, sister, his cousin and his aunt also thought the fair sounded like an enjoyable activity for the evening. Little did I know, my first date would take my breath away, literally.
So here I am getting ready for a date for tonight, met this lady online and going to meet her for the first time in person. Excited and nervous at the same time. So, we set up a day and time to meet at this restaurant around 7pm. I get out of the shower and get dressed, my usual jeans and a nice shirt and I get a call from her. She needs a ride her car won’t start no problem. I get over to her house to pick her up and it is nice on the outside, two car garage with a nice grassy front yard and front porch. Knock on the door and her daughter answers the door and shows me to the living room to wait for her mother. Her daughter not very talkative which I do understand because she doesn’t know me and probably has not heard of me until today from her mother. It looked like she was going out tonight as well. Shelly then came out wearing a sexy multi-color sundress that contours her body. She came out and I kissed her on the cheek and placed my hands on her waist and felt her shiver. She walks around looking for shoes while she is talking, just small talk back and forth. She introduced her daughter to me and her name is Sarah, and she was wearing tight jean shorts with a tight shirt going out with her girlfriends. Her daughter leaves and Shelly is finishing up getting makeup on and we are still doing small talk.
The movie 50 First Dates is about a girl named Lucy and a guy named Henry who live in Hawaii. Every day she wakes up thinking it is the same day as the accident, which is her father’s birthday. She goes to the same diner every day, thinking it is Sunday, for breakfast eating waffles and making houses out of them. While Henry is testing out his boat, he has troubles with it and goes to the diner on shore to wait for the coast guard to tow his boat back. While in the diner, Henry sees Lucy, thinking she was just a normal girl eating breakfast. He meets her and talks with her, having a strong connection, they agree to meet up again at the same place for breakfast the next morning. Henry waits at the diner for Lucy, but when she walks in, she does not say a word to him. He tries to talk to her and make the same jokes he did the day before to her but because of her condition, she has no clue who he is and gets scared. Thinking Lucy is crazy or psycho, the waitress who knows about Lucy’s condition, pulls Henry out to tell him about what has happened and why Lucy is acting this way. Immediately, Lucy’s father, brother, and everyone who is close to her want Henry to stay
Eyes that have seen the world, tainted slightly pink by running dye, stare at me from the passenger seat. They still have the same ambitious glean as the day I found him, even with the sights they’ve seen, much like a newborn seeing the world for the first time. It was by pure chance we found one another, a spur of the moment decision to ask a girl on a date, sparked a chain of events which lead to this stuffed dog flying across the world with both me and the same girl.
My first date was with my current boyfriend. The date was amazing and consisted of us skating and afterwards he took me to eat at McDonald’s. This would be considered a lame date in today’s world, but I would never forget that day. I could vividly remember my first date and how it all started.
We could be enemies, friends, dating, married, strangers, cousins, neighbors, siblings, parents, coworkers, or lovers. As you look at your life from an outside perspective, you will realize you have many diverse relationships in your life. No two relationships are exactly the same. Each connection you have in your life is different from the next. Relationships make the world go round. Without any relationships, the world would not function, our population will not reproduce and life would cease to exist. Each relationship means putting in effort, facing obstacles and working through them. A relationship is a bond between two or more people, all coming down to one thing; connection.
At first glance, we can see that S1 and S2 actively interact with one another in order to act out the situation of ‘a couple first time dating’. From line 40 to 46, S1 and S2 exchanges turns and asks casual questions, however, in line 46 when S2 seems slightly confused with the stretching sound “I am::::::”, the teacher promptly jumps in and completes S2’s turn. It is the content of the teacher’s suggestion, teacher’s tone of voice and S2’s uptake teacher suggestion that create laughter in this case (line 49). It is noted that S1 and S2 is not in a relationship, yet they are grouped and assigned a situation which possibly involves awkward moments of pretending to be one another’s lover. Although everyone is aware that S1 and S2 are acting
