The Babylonian epic witnessed the heroic character of Gilgamesh. Though Gilgamesh was known to be a hero, his behaviour was not that could as he was known to be a bully. The story of Gilgamesh unravels with him raging fights with young men in the city and sleeping with women. Gilgamesh strength to bully people in the city changed when the god Anu sends Enkidu as a friend to Gilgamesh and they had to make a journey to the mountains of Lebanon. The heroic quest of defeating the monster who was guarding the forest was known all over. (Mark, 2016).
The building of the gate by Gilgamesh can closely be related to the building of the wall by Donald Trump as a way of protecting their people from attacks by their enemies. After defeating the monster, Gilgamesh and Enkidu floated down River Euphrates using a raft made of cedar. (Mark, 2016). Gilgamesh expresses his willingness and determination to build a gate in his place of the great Babylon using the cedar.
Though it can be argued that cedar might be just but a weak material to build a gate, in Mesopotamia at that time, using cedar to build a gate was such a sensible and noble idea by their leader. Other walls could be built of sunbaked clay bricks, but this was a major milestone by Gilgamesh. Due to the tyrannical nature of Gilgamesh, people thought that it could be wise to select somebody who can easily convince him and keeping check of him. They then pick Enkidu. (Allen, 2016). We could see Enkidu convincing Gilgamesh to the forest where they defeated the monster. This was a heroic step. More so, it was after the triumph in the forest that Gilgamesh and Enkidu used a raft of cedar to flow river Euphrates and Gilgamesh decided to build a gate to protect his people.
