Throughout my five years continuing on my sixth; I had never became so close to any sport/club offered at my school. Varsity coaches, Coach Kevin Chavez and Coach Sean Casey are looking to lead this year’s team to another winning season to capture first place in League. This year’s Varsity team has a deep pitching rotation that is essential for the team’s success. This rotation includes: Dakota Fine, Carson Conradt, Chris Chavez, Jacob Hobson, Ricky Walczak, Michael Rogers, Noah Calderon, Preston Kelly, and Mikey Rosales. The team’s offense will be capped by Cal State Fullerton commit Brett Borgogno and Chris Chavez’s power bat. You’re can’t play, you’re just a girl. That’s what they told me when I decided I wanted to play basketball. I didn’t listen. Despite the naysayers I’m going continue doing what something I like and enjoy doing. I would like to attend The Wolfpack Woman’s Basketball camp to better my shooting skills, build my confidence and be a part of a team.

Not making the JV Softball team my Freshman year felt like the cherry on top of a horrible year. Starting High School was challenging as I was excited at first and then quickly disappointed with the reality. Socially is where I struggled the greatest. I anticipated I would meet new people and gain a plethora of new friends, but I mainly stuck with the same three friends I had in Middle School and did not branch out. Being on the softball team would have meant I could gain new friends and be a part of an activity I loved doing. When I was asked to not join the team, I was embarrassed, disappointed, and angry.

In the fall semester of my freshman year in high school I had decided to try out for my school’s drill team, the Crimson Cadettes. This organization has a reputation of very classy, well put together young women and by being on the team, one automatically has extremely high standards that they are expected to meet. Being a Cadette is a big deal because it requires an abundance of hard work and is very time consuming. My teammates and I are often spending our extra time at school whether it be for practice, pep rallies, contests or even more. There are on average about sixty dancers on the team each year and because we spend so much time together, it is expected that sometimes we’ll disagree on some things.

Girls varsity softball has began a new season. Led by coach of six years, Mike Quiroz, the tartans are coming off a win, beating San Dimas 17-2.

I come from a small town called Kittitas. Kittitas is the type of town where a student knows the names of everyone in their graduating class. Despite its small size, Kittitas is widely known for it’s high school wrestling program. There are few communities that I associate myself with, and the single most influential of these communities is the high school wrestling team. Over the course of four years, I have gotten to know my teammates and coaches on a personal level, and they are the people that I feel most comfortable around.

Everyone has been on some type of team such as a sports team to a work team, to even a team for a project. The success of any team is dependent on the weakest link in the chain.

This past summer, our Marist Varsity team worked the basketball camp. I coached a group of six to ten year old girls. One girl was much better at basketball than the rest of the girls, and the other girls started to be mean to her and her mean to them. This then lead to the girls not working well together on the court. I decided to leave my coaches out of it, and handle it on my own. After one of my team's games, I pulled all of the girls aside to talk to them. I told them that they need to be nice to each other because it affects their game play too. I told them that everyone was there to get better at basketball and that each of them are at a different point in their skill levels. I went on to say that I was not going to involve any adults

No other team experience has ever compared to the one I had in my school curling league. While the causes for this are numerous, the main three are summarized as being interconnectedness, trust, and support.

The cheer team, The Great White Sharks, represented the school The Great White Shark High School in Maui, Hawaii. It was a big school that had 9,000 students. Every year the cheer team practices all summer so that they can compete in the World Championship. The World Championship is held in Maui, Hawaii this year.

Playing a team sport builds character because it teaches a person how to be respectful, how to work with others, and it teaches good sportsmanship. These qualities can play a very large role in life down the road. They can be very important for future jobs or activities that a person might do. Without these qualities a person could be at a severe disadvantage.
