Passage | Analysis | “Mom frowned at me. 'You'd be destroying what makes it special' she said, 'It's the Joshua tree's struggle that gives it its beauty'.” -Page 38 | I think that what Rose says symbolizes is that Jeannette is beautiful because even through everything she's gone through with her family, it has just made her a strong person, or the “Joshua Tree” in this case. | “If you don't want to sink, you better figure out how to swim.” -Page 66 . | I think that this foreshadows that she will need to find a way to support herself, or fend for herself because she has to find how to “swim” before she “sinks” . | “After dinner the whole family stretched out on the

| 'Oh Yeah?' I said. 'How about Hitler? What was his redeeming quality?' 'Hitler loved dogs,' Mom said without hesitation. -Page 144 | I think that this is a comedic lesson because Rose is trying to teach Jeannette how to be compassionate with her grandmother. She shows that not everyone is completely evil, and everyone has at least one positive personality trait to them. | "Life is a drama full of tragedy and comedy. You should learn to enjoy the comic episodes a little more." - Page 129 | Rose says this when Jeannette is embarrassed that they're sleeping in their car, and people are looking at them and laughing. I think this is important because it shows that you shouldn't be embarrassed by how little you have. You shouldn't care what other people think. | “I lived in a world that at any moment could erupt into fire. It was the sort of knowledge that kept you on your toes.” -Page 34 | I believe , she meant that lives can change so fast , in a matter of minutes, so you had to always be considerate on the possibilities of your world changing, and “stay on your toes”. | "Things usually work out in the end.""What if they don't?""That just means you haven't come to the end yet." -Pg 259 | I really love this quote. I ponder that it can mean a couple different things, but most of all that we choose our “endings”. That if we aren't satisfied with what our lives have come to be, we can always change that until we are happy with
The memoir entitled The Glass Castle, written by Jeannette Walls is a story of the eventful life Jeannette endured growing up with her three siblings and her parents. Jeannette lived a tough life, she was constantly moving, never had nice clothes to wear, and had to grow up faster than most children. The reason for the constant struggles in Jeannette’s life led back to her parents. Her father Rex Walls was outrageous, always making spur of the moment decisions which had taken a toll on the family as a whole. He was a severe alcoholic who made way too many promises he knew he couldn’t keep. Throughout the novel, the idea of the “Glass Castle” appears quite often. The Glass Castle is
In the Midland, there was a specific type of tree called the Joshua tree. That tree had a unique shape because it would be worn down by the elements it coexists with. One time Jeannette spotted a Joshua tree sapling by their house and she wanted to replant it so she could protect it, but her mother wouldn’t let her. Instead her mother told her, “‘You’d be destroying what makes it special. It’s the Joshua tree’s struggle that gives it its beauty,’” (Walls 38). Jeannette remembered that quote her whole life, and it could also apply to Jeannette. It was her struggle that gave her a unique
"Her hand moved behind his head and supported it. Her fingers moved gently in his hair. She looked up and across the barn, and her lips came together and smiled mysteriously"(Steinbeck 455). Rose, even after losing her child, was still able to keep the flicker of life and hope in the young boys Pa to save him from certain death. With all the struggles the Joad family went through to get this far even this little action of kindness made allowed Rose to feel happy once again.
The Nurse character uses her humor to tell Juliet a story. The Nurse is talking about Juliet’s age and she decides to tell Juliet a story about her late husband (GUIDO 300). The Nurse’s story to Juliet is very humorous. Her commentary towards everyone around her is very funny. They both have one major comedy scene but they have small commentary throughout the story.
The Medieval Period lasted from the 10th century to the 17th century; this was the time of castles. The word castle is derived from the Latin word castellum which means fort. Castles still stand today as one of the most magnificent structures ever built. Not only are people fascinated with their grand splendor, but with their luminous presence of authority. Castles were not built for defense alone; they were symbols of social status, wealth, power, and intimidation. Kings and queens were not the only people to inhabit castles; noblemen could also construct their own castles.
Castle Crashers makes its debut on the Xbox One, but not in the backwards compatibility sense that has been gaining traction lately. It’s the same Castle Crashers greatness but remastered with some added goodies. The visuals have been enhanced, 60 FPS keep things going smoothly, online multiplayer isn’t as much of a drag as on Xbox 360, and there’s a whole new game mode. Not only that, players will be able to unlock special characters and animal orbs without having to pay for additional content.
The nurse decides to torture Juliet by withholding the news from her by talking on and on. This builds suspense as well as giving the nurse a more developed character. These small additions of humorous anecdotes into a serious tone make the play more memorable. Humor helps the reader to connect with the character as well as helping them to picture the situation better. For the author, it helps to maintain the reader’s attention as well as create suspense and surprise in a play’s tense tone.
“One day, when you’re older you will understand Rosetta. Man is an evil, terrible thing. We take what we want and fight over silly nothings that will be forgotten in the passing days,” a 16-year-old Camila says defiantly.
In contrast to red, white, or yellow roses, blue roses are not found in nature. Blue roses are special because they can’t be achieved naturally and, therefore, they represent the desire for the unattainable. In The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams, the symbol of blue roses is used to represent Laura Wingfield’s unfulfilled desires as a result of her shyness. In the first place, the blue roses represent Laura’s incomplete goal for a successful education.
The Glass Menagerie, by Tennessee Williams contained well-characterized characters. The "Dead Poet’s Society" also contained a great set of characters that were similar to those in The Glass Menagerie. It is fair to say that the characters of The Glass Menagerie and the characters of "Dead Poet’s Society" are more similar than different.
The Night of the Broken Glass signified a turning point for the Jews, it was the first time they realized they were no longer safe under Hitler's regime. Hitler began enacting anti-semitic laws in 1933, but it wasn’t until now serious violence was occurring against Jews. During the uncontrolled riots on that traumatic night, over 100 Jews lost their lives, there was more than 30,000 Jews arrested and sent to jails or concentration camps, 2,000 Jewish community buildings and synagogues were destroyed, and over 7,500 Jewish stores were looted (Schwartz 50). There was nothing left for the Jews, everything was destroyed. This was the first time Jews realized the severity of their situation and knew they had to start taking measures to ensure their family's safety.
In the play, The Glass Menagerie, Tennessee Williams addresses the hardships of a small, lower-middle class family in St. Louis. The family's future is controlled by the Amanda but, Tom will accept that no longer as he strives for independence. With their absent father, Amanda is placing the weight of the world on her children’s shoulders as she continuously comes up with ways her and her family could potentially get ahead in life. Tom feels the pressure of being the man of the house, as he’s responsible for the family’s income and works daily to provide for his mother and sister. After analyzing the characters, one might say that Tennessee Williams has used the title The Glass Menagerie to directly relate to the children being held captive
Life is just one big lesson that you learn off of, it’s a learning experience that make people who they are and also makes them become a better individual. The book “The Glass Menagerie” by Tennessee Williams has an amazing character named Laura, you get to experience Laura shape into a more confident woman than what she starts out as in the beginning of the book. You will be introduced to her Glass Menagerie, which is a collection of slightly exotic animals, also her pride and joy.
The Quote above says that everything will be fine at the right time or when someone has been fulfil his goals in life. Like stories in the books or movies it only end when the character resolve all the problems his been facing all the time. But when the story add another problem it means that the story is not yet been done and should be continue until it find its way to be done. It also means like whatever happens in your life, don’t give up until you can reach your goal. Don’t stop even you fail after all it’s not yet the end.
