The Pentagon’s decision to allow women to fight in the front lines is a major step in the equal rights between the two sexes because women are just as able to fight in the front lines just as men.

The equal rights between men and women are actually not that equal, and never have been. Since the beginning of time men have seen themselves superior to women, because they want to feel better about themselves and they do not want women disrupting the balance of the work place.

A term called the ‘ glass ceiling’ refers to an imaginative barrier, a barrier which women are often put under. (Glass)This barrier prevents one from advancing to the next stage in a career. This barrier has been around for centuries but there was not a term for it.

In the 1960’s women went through a large movement known as the liberation movement. The movements purpose was to free …show more content…

(Lemmon) The Pentagon hoped that the demolishment of the ban would strengthen both the military defenses, the US, and increase jobs in the defense branches.(Valor)

The current President of the United States also concurs with the Pentagon's and Panetta’s decision to lift the ban as he stated, “Today, by moving to open more military positions - including ground combat units - to women, our armed forces have taken another historic step toward harnessing the talents and skills of all our citizens… patriots whose sacrifices show that valour knows no gender. “ This quote shows that there should have never been a ban against women engaging in combat, the women are fighting for their country, the gender preference should not have mattered in the first place. Women would honorably give their lives for the good of the country, there is nothing wrong within that. The Pentagon and Panetta did make an excellent decision once they lifted a ban, it will help the country
