Starting points + influences Having a present interest in vintage and retro fashion led me towards the idea of a vintage themed art piece. I contemplated a range of ideas and after some compromise, I decided to work with the theme ‘vintage’ by devising ideas around crafting everyday objects into a piece of art. Vintage items, including, classic books, cameras, type-writers, cushions, buttons, prints, wall paper, etc. were all considered. I wanted to expand on my knowledge and talents, therefore, I decided on sewing a stylised and imaginative artwork combined with the use of appropriate, complimenting materials. Prior to finishing my final piece I discovered how nostalgia and the recycling of materials is typical in art, especially amongst artists inspired by the past. Research on modern artists such as Doxey, inspired me to paint a chair to accompany my cushions. Further examination on a collection of art movements for example, Classicism, and Neoclassicism influenced my perceptions of art. Further research on the likes of Van Gogh, especially his piece, Dutch, 1853–1890, which inspired me to experiment with gouache, acrylics, and colour palate …show more content…
I developed a meaning and visual aesthetic that I pursued with creativity and individuality by deciding to use water colours on calico which were consistent with my theme and intentions. I made connections between objects from the past and today’s modern items, this lead me to question why so many wish to reclaim the past. As a result, my art work answers this question, with its sentimental use in modern times. This collection of artworks express how the aesthetic of ‘vintage’ can be refabricated and re-used in the form of ordinary articles used in everyday

I selected Clothespin by Claes Oldenburg as my postmodernism visual piece of art to discuss. This sculpture has multiple characteristics associated with postmodernism. I will be explaining four of them. The first postmodernism trait I want to present is recycle from the past. Clothespins were a staple in almost every household, since clothes were hung from the clothing line to get dried before the drying machine took over that function. Oldenburg took a former common every day object from the past, recycle it, and presented under a new light: as a sculpture! The second characteristic to discuss is shaped by electronic media and modes of communication. Not only we can access and look at this piece of art via electronic methods, but the artist

The final concept I would I like to discuss is the ideas of imitation. My line of work could be seen as a form of imitation and reading some of the earlier views against did bring a few laughs since the view seemed to haven’t completely change over the centuries. Continuing reading explore the comparison between what is true imitation and what is true inspiration did result in my reevaluation of what I should classify my artworks. While I’m still unsure about this subject, I do appreciate what these readings have done for me when reconsidering how I should view myself as an

The work is a colorful representation of the past as well as the future showing all aspects of life. There was no detail information on this collage of title work other than the name, but it spoke to me and I had to share this with the class. If you didn’t know anything about art, this work would get your attention and show you the past and take you forward into today. The complimentary colors used in this display has a smooth earthly tone, but as you view the artwork it has a very pleasant, comforting feel as you view the mellow soft colors displayed in this design. This type of work has vivid elements, it really get your

Recycled old forgotten materials used to create new magnificent assemblages of art, reborn into this world with a new meaning, created with passion and inspiration. This was the new topic, Recycled: imagined for the Year 9 VA class from Sefton High school. This art class studied how artists used recycled objects to create artwork and the art movement “Dada” foundered by the famous “Ready mades” artist, Marcel Duchamp to base their own creations using abandoned encyclopedia Britannica books.
Vintage and antique jewelry are naturally scarce, our hunting service relies on how few pieces are for sale and on how difficult it is to find them. Our natural paucity is caused by 3 factors. First, the rarity of the elements that compose jewelry. Second, the excellent human handcraft skills that are needed to create high-quality ornaments. Third and mainly, the years passed over our selection of pieces and their histories make them scarce and unique.
Similarly, a vintage scarf in a frame that is handcrafted transforms an everyday accessory into a very beautiful piece of art. These individually owned pieces which

While all these design elements of Restoration Hardware point to men as their target audience, it is the decoration and architectural elements that pull the women towards this brand. Throughout the rooms, each space is decorated differently to construct the same atmosphere (figure 6–10). Old illustrations of leaves or technical drawings of lights and other devices hang on the wall. Heavy stone carvings sit on the tables. Large books with yellow pages that lost it’s binding, old New York Times, and antique scrabble game sets populate the empty surface of the furniture. Occasionally, a deer skull is mounted on the wall along with some fur throws thrown across the sofa. All these decorative elements can be summed into two groups. The illustrations,
