Change, without a doubt, is ongoing constantly on a Global scale throughout Society. The great need for and the urgency of coming to understand this phenomenon is becoming increasingly obvious. Religion and philosophy have, since the dawn of civilization, sought to direct the Change in a way that would be beneficial to mankind as a whole. They have failed to make any significant change in the way Society is progressing. The way Society is going now is controlled by a ‘few’ who have control of vast resources for directing and manipulating the masses. And they have violent oppression of those who will not submit to their structured system of control as a back up resource. Revolution is not the answer. Revolution is a building block of the …show more content…
Even the rebel is a part of Society and is a subject of “direction”. So… all we need to do is change the “direction”. The first step would be to get a handle on it. “Direction”, what is it, where is it and how does it function? It is a force, it runs throughout Society and it drives the actions of humans. I believe we can say, accurately, that force is a Yin/Yang sort of thing with actions and reactions that can be studied to gain understanding of its workings. Where is it? It runs throughout Society here and now dictating our actions. Function? What does it do? How can it influence free will to conform actions to its rule? If we look at free will to isolate the element that “direction” is acting upon we come to ‘the decision making process’. At the bottom line of the decision making process we have free will, we say yes or no, right or wrong, do or don’t and stay or go. We choose what we want to do. What is it at the bottom line in the decision making process to keep us in line? Rule, and it’s every kind of rule that you commonly think of as well as the ‘they say’ rules you’ve heard all your Life, and then there’s the instinctual and/or archetypal rules. Rule has authority over what one might personally feel to be right. Even before Society gets into the picture, Rule, as the laws of physics, determines that progress will follow the principles of action and reaction. That is our existence’s substance,
Finding acceptance seems to be a vital factor in the world today. It has the power to motivate people to make major changes in the way they think, live, dress, and look. We see the most changes in beauty and fashion because American media influences people to be more like “perfect” stereotypes, such as celebrities. Following these stereotypes gives a sense of belonging to people that have been ridiculed all their lives, but they fail to realize that a person should be free to look and dress as they please. The crazed infatuations of beauty and fashion have caused people to take irrational measures of change by undergoing numerous surgery procedures, developing eating disorders, and becoming emotionally dysfunctional. We live in a world
Thought is subversive and revolutionary, destructive and terrible, thought is merciless to privilege, established institutions, and comfortable habits; thought is anarchic and lawless, indifferent to authority, careless of the well-tried wisdom of the ages. Thought looks into the pit of hell and is not afraid ... Thought is great and swift and free, the light of the world, and the chief glory of man.” (Bertrand Russell) This quote introduces the idea of defiance of the universe and its consequences.
the force which directs the will which is in turn the source of moral action"
Against this view, according to Michael Faraday’s force field theory, the collection of energy is prevenient and essential to the formation of matter. Accordingly, this theory claim can serve as a point of contact between the theory of the time-space-energy field and Pannenberg’s theological concept of the Spirit’s creative immanence in the cosmos. That is, Pannenberg understands that the biblical concept of the Spirit as comparable to the Stoic notion of the all-embracing pneuma, rather than Platonic notion of nous or “the cosmic reason that absorbs human reason.” Also, the development of the force field theory was inspired by the Stoic notion of pneuma. Hence, This theory “helps to understand the theological idea of a dynamic presence of the divine Spirit in all events.” It seems to me that, based on this discourse, we can affirm with Pannenberg that it is not impossible to locate the immanence of God as the life-giving source of all creatures. The Spirit is working in creation as “the vitalizing principle, the lure to self-transcendence, and as the inspirational power of ecstasy.”
Throughout the countless pages of history, there exists many occurrences of change. Some of these changes are positive while others are negative. Nevertheless, as each change occurs, it must undergo struggles to become accepted. One example of the struggles of change that is seen in today’s society is the ongoing fight for religious freedom. Another change that is currently facing obstacles is the fight to change policies that raise the question of equality. Lastly, another struggle for change is the conflict that is occurring in order to make same-sex marriage legal. Through the examples of all these changes, there exists the common factor of changing values. As values change, new changes are undertaken. Therefore, changing values entail
Society has found a way to control the minds and bodies of mankind. Society has done this through stripping individuality, restricting knowledge, forbidding emotions, constricting mankind’s values, choosing everything for mankind, and not allowing any man to be
The history of the human race can be summed up as self destructive. Centuries of countless war, uprisings, and oppression has marked history as a repeating cycle of hate and violence. The population today is divided amongst issues and the government is torn between what decide. The people want change from their government about critical issues, but change is not always guaranteed to be given. With change comes opposition and opposition only gives rise to violence.
Look at the world around you. Is it anything like it was 100 years ago? How about anything like it was 10 years ago? The world is changing at an alarming place. When this country was first founded, land west of the Mississippi was considered uncharted territory. It was seen as a whole new world. Nowadays, there is not a place on the planet that we haven’t been to. There are places on other planets that we have been to. The world has shrunk due to technological advancement. The world is globalizing. Some call it progress. They say that we are growing as a society and that change in inherently good. However, one must look at the nature in which we change. Is the world really becoming a
The first matter to be noted is that this view is in no way in contradiction to science. Free will is a natural phenomenon, something that emerged in nature with the emergence of human beings, with their

The world is always changing which forces people to modify their ways of life. Some people label changes in society, politics, economics,
We as a human race have become a byproduct of our society. Through media, technology, and social pressure, humans no longer run society, but it seems like we are run by society. The quote from sociologist Peter Berger states “Not only do people live in society but society lives in them” This statement is referring to a form of social control were groups and the people in those groups conform to society partially knowingly and partially as a reflection based on dominant social expectations. As I further explain Berger’s statement I will explain how individuality, identity, and freedom fit in to such a predetermined future.
The concept of what defines a global citizen varies, for people have their own opinions and say about how they see an ideal one as. Kwame Appiah wrote Cosmopoltianism, and in his opinion, a global citizen is seen as one who sees no division within themselves and “others”; that it is necessary to agree with one another to behave morally. The view of an ideal global citizen has been altered for centuries, and in every culture it is uniquely seen and educated differently. Many Americans may agree when asked, “what is an ideal global citizen”, their responses would be, following the laws, paying taxes, helping out around the community, having a job or
Albert Einstein said it best, “The significant problems we have cannot be solved at the same level of thinking with which we created them” - Albert Einstein(58 Quotes). Social change is an opportunity for positive growth in today’s world, however it may sometimes take a tragedy to get there. Many big events in history such as The French Revolution and the Civil Rights Movement have caused social change, but our world is stronger because of those events. It takes leadership and a desire for growth to make a positive change in today’s society. Many philosophers have theorized social change through functionalism, conflict theory, and punctuated equilibrium.
In looking at the reasoning and theories of different philosophers throughout history, we see numerous themes develop which play various and sometimes very significant roles in each philosopher's arguments. In their discussions of the cause or source of the universe as well as those regarding the relationships that exist inherently in nature, we see the different thinkers utilize themes such as unity, change and opposition. While many philosophers may employ one or many of these such themes, it is important to note that, often, the significance, interpretation and specific roles of these themes will vary from one philosopher to another. With this in mind, I will attempt to outline the role and interpretation of
