Global Warming and Planet Earth:
A Hot Topic!
Earth is heading for ruin. Moreover, we all have a hand in taking it there, inadvertently though it may be. Humans are adding an abundance of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere that contribute directly to global warming; and we continue to do so every time we start our car, turn up the heat, turn on the lights or throw away trash. Global warming is a problem, caused in large part by human activity, and as it stands, poses a monumental threat to the planet and all of its occupants. While mega polluters do not have an incentive to stop greenhouse gas production, we can, as individuals work towards the solution, greenhouse gas reduction, by improving our awareness and implementing the day to day measures necessary in achieving this goal.
Research Findings
“Global warming refers to the recent and ongoing rise in global average temperature near Earth 's surface. It is caused mostly by increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere” (United States Environmental Protection Agency [EPA], n.d. a). While these gases exist naturally, trapping heat and keeping the Earth warm enough for survival, since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution larger quantities of these same gases, produced by humans, trap more heat in the atmosphere causing a negative impact on the planet. Many greenhouse-gas-emitting activities
During the past several hundred years, civilization has made rapid progress in industries like air travel, automobiles, and energy production. These developments were made without consideration of the long-term effects that their emissions may have on the planet. Changing weather patterns are now wreaking havoc around the world, and scientists attribute this to human-caused climate change. During President Obama’s State of the Union address in 2015, he stated that, “No challenge poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change,” (“Remarks by the President”). Warming temperatures caused by anthropogenic climate change have disastrous consequences that pose a threat to humanity and the environment.
Macbeth Act IV Scene I In the specific scene, Macbeth faces his past, present, and future. He is visited by three apparitions that were conjured up by the three witches. The scene takes place in a cave, which according to greek mythology represented a confusion between reality and falsehood (novelguide.com). Macbeth throughout the play struggles between what is real and untrue.
Global Warming has silently crept into our society today because of big business, lack of technology, and greed. And now with a new generation of citizens who understand what we have been doing to our earth have to stand up and do what is right. Global Warming refers to the increase in the earth’s average temperature induced by human activity. Most discussions on Global Warming today show similarities between an increase in global temperature and the increase in carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, methane, and chlorofluorocarbons in the atmosphere. Human activity increases the amount of these gases in the atmosphere and, as a result of the greenhouse effect, increases
Global warming is defined as the recent increase in the world 's temperature that is believed to be caused by the increase of certain gases (such as carbon dioxide) in the atmosphere. There are many different theories on whether global warming is similar or not to climate change. Simplistically, climate change is different because climate change is defined as a change in global or regional climate patterns or, in particular, a change apparent from the mid to late 20th century onwards and attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels, having been measured over long periods of time, due to the changes in Earth’s orbit and organic carbon which reflect sunlight. Global warming and climate change are not to be confused because global warming is caused mainly by anthropogenic factors like the emission of carbon dioxide gas and use of fossil fuels whereas climate change is completely natural, however, according to Milan Radovanovic, “it is clear that the anthropogenic factors dominate the increasing temperature and the natural ones have the maximum influence…” (Radovanovic). Therefore, “the contribution to global warming from natural forcings and from natural internal variability is in the range between -0.2 to 0.2 [degrees] celsius over the period 1951-2010…” (Radovanovic). Natural factors have had the most effect on global temperature in the past 59 years totaling a 0.4 degrees celsius increase in
Presently, while Scientists are warning us about the deleterious effects of Global Warming, “Nonscientists” also have separate views on the same issue. This indicates that Global Warming is a controversial issue that needs to be addressed. First, we need to understand the concept of “Global Warming.” Global Warming is described as the general increase in atmospheric temperatures worldwide, which results to climate changes. According to an article titled “Global Warming,” the earth’s atmosphere contains various gases that act as a blanket to trap heat from the sun and prevent it from escaping back into space. This means that these gases prevent the earth from being cold. This continued process is known as the greenhouse effect, and the gasses that are responsible for maintaining this heat are carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. They continued, “Over time, the amount of greenhouse gases trapped in the earth’s atmosphere has increased significantly, causing worldwide temperatures to rise.” Human activities like industrialization and agriculture also play a significant role in increasing these gases. For example, the use of certain fertilizers, produce nitrous oxide and methane emissions come from the production of fossil fuels from landfills, and from livestock, they emphasized. All these evidence illustrates that we are significantly responsible for recent increases in temperatures. For this reason, it is obvious that it is a pressing human issue. This recent dramatic
Global warming and climate change will cause health problems for future generations. Climate change and global warming affect everyone. Polar bears are losing their homes due to global warming, and humans are forced to adapt to a continually changing environment. According to John Balbus, he mentioned “With the climate change can cause exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity which are associated with social and demographic factors” (Balbus n.p). Also, increase susceptibility to higher rates of illness caused by climate change and global warming, which it is similar in some cases. Global warming may be a high risk of health consequences also heat-related disease, mental health consequences, and stress. Global warming gives several adverse health effects in both humans and animals.
Global climate has been drastically changing over the past decade reflecting a wide range of impacts that affect not only the environment, but humans as well. Over the last 50 years the magnitude of global warming has been increasing mainly due to human activities. Since the industrial revolution in the 1800s economic growth has been driven by the progress of manufacturing processes, these have significantly contributed to global warming. It is in this period of time when the global concentration of greenhouse gas levels in the atmosphere had a significant increment from 280 parts per million (ppm) in the 1800s to the modern levels of 400 ppm in 2016. (CITE acs.org).Greenhouse gases are the most significant drivers of climate change due to their persistent effects over a long period of time that can therefore negatively affect the present and future generations.
In copious parts of the world, there are an abundance of factors that add to the destruction of our Earth. These issues include air, water, and environmental problems that we contribute to everyday. These concerns create major impacts that pertains to much of the globe and the world in which we inhabit today, compared to the world we lived in 50 years ago. Frequent questions that contribute to global warming include the following: how and why does the community supply detrimental factors to the Earth to cause global warming, and how can the community contribute to the repair of our vanishing Earth? Both of these questions are constantly the idea behind many global organizations that aid in the improvement of our world. This topic needs to be addressed immediately in order to preserve what we have left of our Earth.
Global warming is defined “as an increase in the average temperature of global surface air and oceans since about 1950” (White). The global warming controversy is an ongoing dispute with two main sides; one stating that the direct cause to global warming is through people’s daily activities and the burning of fossil fuels, while other people all around the world refuse to believe that human contributions are the main cause, saying that the earth is going through a natural stage of climatic change, thereby resulting in increasing temperatures in the earth’s atmosphere. Rising temperatures and in increase in greenhouse gases shown through the carbon cycle, demonstrate how the greenhouse effect is incorporated into both views on global warming. Over the past 50 years, experts in this field world-wide have been having an unaccountable amount of disputes over global warming, favoring in either of these positions of human causation or natural climatic change.
Global warming represents an immense threat to our planet. But first off, what is global warming? It is the significant increase in the Earth’s temperature over a short period time as a result of human activity. A congruous mix of organisms, people, and environments are being harmed by its effects. Ocean levels have risen, species are have become extinct, and the world is not what it used to be. This is a large risk for the earth, and the outcomes will be enormous, causing illnesses and financial decay. Because of global warming, many are beginning to invest in energy-efficient supplies and do a variety of other acts. For example, carbon dioxide is causing a warming impact on the world's surface. Since water vapor itself is an ozone damaging substance, this causes significant additional warming. Then, the warming causes more water vapor to be vanished. Different petroleum gases, for instance, C02, Sulfur, CFCs, and Methane also hurt the Earth. Industrialization, urbanization, and deforestation additionally expand and add on to the cause of global warming.
Global warming is attributed to the rise in Earth’s average surface temperature, oceans and atmosphere due to growing concentrations of greenhouse gases These gases exist naturally, trapping heat and keeping the Earth warm enough for survival, but it’s the larger quantities of these same gases, produced by humans, that’s trapping more heat in the atmosphere causing a negative impact on the planet. Many greenhouse-gas-emitting activities are a fundamental part of modern life, for example, Carbon dioxide, by far the largest offender coming in at ¾ of all greenhouse gas emissions, comes from burning fossil fuels for
"The term Global warming is now commonly used to refer to the recent reported increase in the mean surface temperature of the earth; this increase being attributed to increasing human activity and in particular to the increased concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere”. (Khandekar et al., 1560).
Mother Earth is burning as we speak; humanity has killed our precious Earth. Global-warming is a vicious killer that was created by the humans on this Earth, and there 's no way to cure it. We,as humans, have the power to cleanse the Earth, but instead we destroy it. Heat is absorded by carbon dixide and greenhouse gases. A greenhouse gas absorb thermal radiation emmited by the Earth 's surface. As the sun 's energy reaches the Earth’s surface some of it goes back out into space, some is absorbed by the atmosphere, and the rest is emmited by the earth and warms the Earth. This is what we call the greenhouse effect which is the main reason we have global warming.
At this point, its very hard to argue against the harsh process of climate change and our impact, as human beings, in facilitating this process. This seems to be a time to take action immediately to protect against the detrimental eventualities of climate change, since our planet depends on it. Unfortunately, the movement to help protect environment is diligently batted down by the hands of the Polluter Industrial Complex. The polluter industrial complex is a collection of politicians, corporations, lobbyist, etc. dedicated to efforts that would undermine the environmentalist movement. For someone looking at this situation from an environmentalist point of view, this is crazy. Empirical scientific research has shown that the
David Attenborough (an English broadcaster and naturalist) once said, “[t]here is no question that climate change is happening; the only arguable point is what part humans are playing in it.” Climate change is a pending issue waiting to be addressed and resolved by society as a whole before it is too late. Statistics show that the United States contains only 5 percent of the world 's population, but contributes 22 percent of the world 's carbon emissions. During the 21st century, global warming is expected to continue and climate changes are likely to increase, including: changes in temperature, precipitation, snow and ice, ocean level, and ocean acidity.
