Currently the human race is coming to terms with one of the most monumental problems of its own creation : air and water pollution. The poisoning of the very air we breathe and the water that we drink has become too prolific to ignore any longer. One culprit ? Automobiles. The more smoke we expel from the exhaust pipe, the more we exhaust our environment and poison the air and water that allows us to exist. But what can we do to reduce the amount of pollution we produce ? It’s not like we can just stop driving ,right ? Wouldn’t it have an adverse effect on our productivity or make it harder to get to work ? It’s not like it would make a difference anyway, right ? In recent years, global climate change due to global warming has been largely researched. The paper, “Global Climate Change Triggered by Global Warming,” offers compelling evidence from various scientific papers that the process of Earth’s climate undergoing significant change has already begun and requires our attention due to the probability that human-generated greenhouse gases are the primary cause. Major focal points are shifting towards determining the causes to mitigate the effects rather than establishing the existence as sufficient amount of evidence has proven that global warming is indisputable. During the final decade of the 20th century, climatologists have concluded that the past millennium to be the warmest, especially in the year of 2005. Solutions towards the cause would require assistance from the population as a whole.

The U.S government has been actively involved in overseeing emission standards for years. This corresponds with the statement made by the U.S Department of transportation that, “Transportation is the largest end-use sector emitting CO2”, and also the statement released by the NRCAN in which, “Fuel usage & carbon dioxide emissions have grown steadily over the past two decades.” These factors are only to be associated with your average four door sedan and/or light truck. These do not include your 18 wheelers, heavy trucks, or the gas guzzling vans that emit more carbon dioxide into the air and are also on the road more today than ever have been before. Cars are readily and easily obtainable more so now than ever have been. This creates more fuel to be burned up in which produces more toxins to be constantly released into the atmosphere. In fact, according to Scientific American “cars relate as much as 30 gallons of GHG, while only driving 3 miles.” These miles can be correlated with something just as simple as your average work commute. According to the United States Census Bureau, “Nearly 600,000 full-time workers had "megacommutes" of at least 90 minutes and 50 miles.” Those workers alone would each be releasing up to 500 gallons of GHG. These can be considered some of the bigger factors that the greenhouse gasses have taken a toll on.

Another problem is transportation; cars, planes, trucks, and other vehicles emit various greenhouse gases when in use, or when idling. I would create more solar-powered cars, and if possible, wind-cars, or other cars that run using renewable sources. I would also increase the prices of gas, to discourage people from buying it. However, this would be very, very expensive, and the fuel companies would not agree with the

Today, there are already organizations promoting awareness of global warming and trying to make our thoughts to one. In Sweden, they produce environmentally friendly cars and give big tax; In Great Britain, they build a lot of windmills; Australia banned the sale of incandescent light bulbs and started a program called Proarbol to help stop deforestation and to increase jungles in Mexico. Countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, EU, India, Indonesia, Russia, South Africa and America have set goals to reduce green house gas emission or carbon emission by a certain amount until 2020. If there’s a problem, solutions defiantly exist and all we need is a little more consideration during everyday life. Things you can do are to set you’re A.C higher, take public transportation, start using renewable energy and encourage others around you, don’t pour oil or paint into sinks, donate for eco friendly groups, don’t litter in public areas and promote the cause to people around you. Bigger things the government can do is to establish protected wild-life areas and parks, limit road constructions, reduce deforestation, build more schools, fight wrong information and to prepare for impacts. A study shows that there was a 97% consensus among scientists who were interviewed said that global warming is caused by humans in 2015. The number is always changing considering the fact that there was a 100 percent consensus by 2004, with a percentage of 91 scientists in agreement in the beginning of 2014 with a 93 percent consensus by the end of 2014. Each gallon of gasoline you burn creates 20 pounds of GHG. That 's about 7 to 10 tons of GHG produced a year for a regular vehicle (“Reduce Climate Change” 1). Getting better gas mileage is a good thing because it means that people can get better miles per gallon without releasing as many carbon emissions. According to Barack Obama’s administration, they have approved regulations that will force automakers to nearly double the average gas mileage of all new cars and trucks they sell in America by 2025 (Krisher 1). This will make it so all automakers will produce vehicles that will be less detrimental to the environment and will help fend off the hazardous effects certain to come with climate change. Fuel efficient cars are considered advantageous because of their “smaller gasoline engine”, which release fewer pollution emissions (“Fuel Efficient Cars...” 1). A car that is considered fuel efficient does not consume a lot of gas and gives the best possible mileage. The less fuel consumed by the car, the less smoke that will come out of the exhaust. Thesis Statement: Global warming is a growing concern of scientists and researchers who believe that it is a serious problem for our planet. The concerns and research have also been questioned and have even been called myths. Millions of people find themselves affected by these weather pattern changes and are concerned for their futures. Activists on both sides of the argument are very passionate and not afraid to attack each other in every way they can. There are many questions that are still not answered, however, we continue to see drastic weather changes to Earth. Let’s say that an average car gets 25 miles to the gallon, and that car has a ten gallon tank. Every time a car gets filled up with gas, another fifty pounds of carbon dioxide have been put back into the atmosphere, and that is just one car. The automobile industry is very important to the world economy, so I am not saying that we should stop making cars, but there are other solutions. The recent trend of hybrid electric cars that get up to fifty miles to the gallon are becoming more popular. Also public transportation is very important. City dwellers that live downtown, do not need to drive their cars to work. Every major city has a form of public transportation that can get anyone around the city, and for that gallon of gas a bus burns the same five pounds reaches the atmosphere, but instead of one
