How exposed is your country to globalization? What have been the political, economic, technological, social, environmental, or other impacts of the globalization trend on your country? They can be negative or positive impacts.
As we know it each country possesses its own culture, technology and production. Due to the geographic region they are located; they produce different kind of product. In Haiti we do not

U.S. Imperialist Domination on Haiti. The United States fascination in Haiti has always existed prior to its domination. The United States has had a rough relationship with Haiti “ever since the former slave colony revolted against France and won independence in 1804, the only nation founded by a slave rebellion” (Bauduy, pg. 244, 2015). U.S. imperialism combined its relations with the Haitian dominant classes, forming a social base that strengthened the U.S. domination over Haiti even after the patriot opposition compelled them to leave.
Haiti's has several factors that contributes to its overall fragility. These factors are: a weak Social Contract, the Government lack of capacity, and its environmental (geopolitical) location.
I chose this specific culture because the fall semester of my freshmen year of college, I met someone who became very close to me and she happened to be a Seventh Day Adventist from Haiti. She was one of my first friends and once we started talking about things I realized we were brought up differently, and had a wide range of different experiences that brightened our views of the world when we shared with each other. I have never been out of the country and her being from Haiti and also having a higher traveling experience than me made me want to explore my options of traveling outside my comfort zone more.
This documentary focused on globalization, how it is gendered, and the impacts of globalization in Haiti. It also focused on the working conditions, violence, poverty, poor health care system, and the lack of education. The documentary is narrated through the personal stories of women like Marie-Jeanne, Solange, Frisline, etc. At the beginning of the documentary, Marie-Jeanne talked about the working conditions that workers faced while working in the factories in Haiti. The conditions that these workers are in are miserable. For example, the workers are discriminated in the sense that they do not drink the same water as their bosses who employs them. The water given to them are contaminated unlike that of their bosses. Their bosses make little to no effort when it come to the health of their workers. In the case of Marie, she had to toil under those wretched condition to send her children to school because she was denied education because of the gender discrimination and the expensive cost of school.
Haiti, located in the western, smaller portion of the island Hispaniola, is about the size of Maryland. It’s in the Greater Antillean archipelago, which is shared with the Dominican Republic. With a population of approximately nine hundred thousand people, after Cuba, it is the second most populous country in the Caribbean. Their government is an elected Republic. The majority of its residents (90%) consist of immigrants from Africa who were brought here against their will and required to work the sugar plantations.
Every culture has internal and external forms of cultural control. Made a part of you controls something that people choose to do to themselves by
During the 1700s the french had ruled over the nation which is now known today as Haiti. When the french had ruled over haiti it was known as one of the richest nations, by trading coffee beans and sugar. However, this was done with the help of many slaves the french had imperialized. Imperialize is “subject to imperial rule or influence” in simple terms is means when one country rules over another country getting its resources. Which is exactly what the french had done towards Haiti. If haiti had been one of the richest nations then, why is it suffering from economic problems today? Well during 1791 haitians began to rebel against the french starting the most successful slave rebellion in the western hemisphere, However then later threatened
"Two hundred years ago, our precursors in Haiti struck a blow for freedom, which was heard around the world, and across centuries." – Baldwin Spencer
Globalization is when international organization influence on other countries. It seems that Haiti is a country with a strong dignity that oppose globalization as a force that have an effect on most aspects of economic experience. However, globalization has had both positive and negative effects. Globalization has impacted poverty in Haiti by free trading and many workers works unpaid for many international factories. For many years Haiti was the center of tourism, which was helping the economy, but now it has declined as a source of income . Official data say Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere( Global Finance) . The free trade promoted by global financial organizations has involved the country's economy in a deep retrocession that obliges to neglect barriers and not obstructive goods of developed countries.
Globalization is the increasing interdependence and connectedness of the world, its businesses and it markets, as well as flow of goods, ideas, technology, people etc. This phenomenon has increased vastly over the years due to technological advances, telecommunications and internet. As the world becomes a global economy, countries have the opportunity to advance more but with the catch that there is also increased competition. Thus as it becomes more common and powerful a feature, it also has some resistance as well. (InvestorWords, n.d.)
The term globalization can be defined as a process by which societies, regional economies and cultures have been integrated via a global network of transportation, communication and trade. It has both positive and negative impacts in all the areas that it touches on be it economical, social, technology, cultural, political, environment, health or any other. Globalization started to have an impact on businesses world wide in the eighteenth century since that time marks the merging of modernity and globalization. However, in the modern sence, globalization kicked off after the end of Second World War since its during that time that leaders felt the urge to break down the borders
Globalization has had both a positive and negative impact throughout the world. An interconnectedness within the world where complicated issues can arise creating an unevenness that can contribute to a societies as well as the individuals happiness in life (El-Ojelli, 2006:p1). Globalization became a worldwide phenomenon with the growth of market economy and information technology. With globalization, the operators of companies and enterprises could use resources, management, expertise, information and labour of the entire world to manufacture the goods in the most appropriate areas, and then sell the produce to the areas which require them, to accomplish the most favourable distribution of resources in the world. This caused enterprises and countries to break out the boundaries of the local resources and markets, starting a competition with others in a broader sense to accomplish development. Globalization brings states and regions together by reducing the distances between each other and increasing the degree
There are many ways to look at and understand modern globalization. In general terms, globalization means that the world, as a whole, is leading to a more utopian society, meaning that the globe is become very interconnected and similarities are growing between different regions and cultures of the world. Globalization is a phenomenon that has been evolving since before 10,000 B.C. This constant evolution can cause many problems, but it can also solve many issues positively as well. Development of any country, however, seems to be a key issue when discussing globalization. Globalization and development present two different factors in the world today. Many countries are lacking in their own development while the world around them is becoming more developed and globalized. Globalization hinders development because with globalization, less developed countries depend on more developed countries to help them to sustainability and self-reliance.
