Gmo's Will Ruin The World

We live in a Gilded age of produce. Within the past couple of years, GMOS replaced our original, natural diet with these “genetically altered” foods. GMO, or genetically modified organism, is defined as “a plant, animal, microorganism, or other organism whose genetic makeup has been modified using recombinant DNA methods (also called gene splicing), gene modification, or transgenic technology” (Non-GMO Project). What may be perceived as healthy salad at first glance, may just be a bowl of genetically modified “food”. These are underlying problems not recognized by most of the public. The use of GMOs creates endless risks and pose a threat to the environment, genetic diversity, and future.

No matter what good some people believe they are doing, everything seems to come with a consequence, and the question is whether or not the good overpowers the bad. Many experts argue that Genetically Modified foods are actually beneficial to, not only people, but animals, plants, and the world overall. Some experts even state that, not only are they beneficial, but that they also protect the environment and aid food productivity. Most farmers actually recommend GMO’s because they are easier to grow, maintain, and tend to be more profitable; however, countless other experts have come to realize that GMO foods are untested, unsafe, and unhealthy. In todays society, people are more concerned about what they put into their body. They eat healthy and maintain a stable diet, but unknown to a number of these people is their food may have been tampered with in the form of Genetically Modified Organisms or, for short, GMO's. Genetically Modified Organisms are plants or animals whose DNA has been altered to favor a certain characteristic or trait which is already in the DNA. This includes enhancing the DNA in plants to make them bigger, invincible to pests, or invincible towards weeds. Although, the reason why GMO's are a controversial topic is because of lack of knowledge. Genetically Modified Organisms are risky and potentially to dangerous to be handling because of the unknown side effects

Global health is detrimental to maintaining a healthy world for future generations. Our everyday meals impact our physique, as well as our health as we get older. With the increase in GMOs, our food production has grown exponentially and it keeps growing by the minute due to population growth. Consumers are the main target, it is why GMOs have been so successful. GMOs are being injected to all food without anybody really acknowledging or questioning what GMOs are really made of. Everyone seems to only care about the mass production of food. The mindset all consumers have about GMOs is wrong because they are not thinking about what GMOs really do to their food or the long-term consequences of eating food with GMOs in it. GMOs are not labeled in our foods, that's because big industries are not 100% sure of what consequences GMOs have on human consumers.

Genetically Engineered foods (GMO’s) hurts the U.S. as a whole from multiple aspects, goes against what people want, therefore the production of these foods needs to be eliminated. Genetically modified organisms make up a lot of the food in the U. S market today. Creating genetically modified organisms harms the environment. Consuming GMO’s can cause harmful health risks in the long run. Not labeling GMO’s the FDA is creating financial destruction in industries. The FDA seems to not put the peoples wants in mind. As a country people have to start and contribute to the elimination of GMO’s across the nation.

The human population is growing rapidly. With the growth in the human population, the demand for food is also growing at an unprecedented rate. Arguably, farms are unable to naturally provide the world’s population the food needed by natural means. This may seem like a big issue, but humans came up with an ingenious solution: genetically modified organisms, commonly known as GMO’s. Genetically modified food has been able to offset the worlds growing demand for food, and all our food problems seem to be solved. Or have they? I will use information from: Wendell Berry’s, The Pleasures of Eating, Jon Entine and JoAnna Wendel’s, 2000+ reasons Why GMO’s Are Safe to Eat, Robin Mather’s, The Threats from Genetically Modified Foods, along with references from Food Inc., to explain how genetically modified food is being used in a way that negatively affects the livestock, our health, the ecosystem, and the potential threats genetically modified crops have on our future.

The premise of genetically modified animals (GMAs) is similar to that of GMCs, as GMAs are animals that have had their DNA selectively changed to produce larger, faster growing animals.

The leaders of the United States of America need to recognize and take action on the concern of the public, regarding GMO food. People have a deep concern for GMO food. They have a right to be concerned about something that is potentially harmful to the population of the United States of America. They are concerned for the safety of GMO food. They are also concerned about the loss of money that can happen, when investing in GMO food. There are many concerns for GMO food. However, the only way to prove this statement, is to successfully refute the opposing viewpoints other people may have, regarding GMO food.

On recent years, Genetically Modify Organism (GMOs) are becoming a major topic for argument on American consumers. Recent studies are starting to prove how dangerous they are. More animal right groups are coming on how GMOs contribute to animal cruelty. Also, scientist are starring to warn the public on the effects GMO farming has in the Ecosystem. Finally, medical studies conducted in foreign countries show the negative impact GMO foods have on humans.

Through the years GMOs have raised concerns on their beneficial attributes such as their resistance to disease, higher product yield, and improved nutrition. I want to help the environment as well as humans, in their decline of quality. In the past few years, many animals have gone extinct or their population is getting dangerously low.
