Companies attain their success by setting long and short-term targets which provide them with direction in productive channels economically. Some of the common attributed elements in goal setting include: sales, services, products, and customer relations in general. The setting of goals process forms an indispensable part of decision-making process in companies and other business organizations. Over the past decades, the goal setting theory is broadly being researched on and employed by implemented by businesses as a work motivation theory in organizational psychology (Redmond 2010). A goal can be described as an action target consciously desired to be achieved. Goal-setting is essentially the conscious procedure of establishing performance levels with the objective of meting desired outcomes. On condition that individuals or groups establish that their current performance in underachieving in terms of desired goals, motivation comes in to play a critical role in boosting one's effort or changing working strategies (Locke & Latham, 2006).
