When watching this TED video presented by Kevin Briggs about the Golden Gate bridge being between suicide and life, I was shocked and full of sadness for the people struggling. I have never been on or have seen this bridge but I have heard of it being beautiful and huge, what I have not heard was how over 1,600 people have committed suicide on it. I would like to believe that when people are at the point of killing themselves there is a chance to convince them otherwise, but unfortunately it is difficult to do so.

When I was an EMT, I had a few suicidal patients. Most of the patients wanted somebody to speak with, but they lost all hope that their problems cannot be solved. We were mandated to call authorities if a person wanted to put them self in danger or desiring to kill themselves. I felt that is was important to do so. Now in the present there are issues involving such statues, groups of people that believe the monuments shouldn’t be displayed are vandalizing and in some cases desecrating these statues because they feel they are racist.
