Golden Retriever History: Where and When Did They Originate?
A Golden Retriever is one of the most popular and recognizable breeds of today. Its origins, however, were a subject of debate for a very long time. Many argued that they came from a whole pack of Russian tracker sheepdogs bought from a circus. But it wasn't until the earliest records of its history came out in 1952 that a Golden Retriever had an origin to look back into. Time to set the record straight.
The Golden Retriever is an early 19th-century breed that was developed after a long line of breeding from the Irish setter, Tweed water spaniel and Newfoundland dogs, with a goal to develop a hunting dog that has the size, endurance and ability to retrieve a large number of game
Brief History: The Boston Terrier, sometimes called the “American Gentleman” can trace its ancestry from the mating of a crossbred Bulldog/terrier called Judge, which was imported to the United States from the United Kingdom in 1865. In time the English and Staffordshire Bull Terrier were added to the mix through breeding.
Goldendoodles and Sheepdogs are alike in many ways, but a way that they are different that Sheepdogs shed. Another way that they are different is that Sheepdogs used to be used for herding cattle into shops. Finally, unlike Sheepdogs, Goldendoodles are a designer breed, and they are not used for anything job- wise. Sheepdogs are different than Goldendoodles because they do not shed. The Goldendoodles were created because people wanted the fun-loving companionship of a Golden Retriever and the non-shedding fur of a Poodle.
I personally know this because I own a silver Labrador Retriever. Last summer I was taking my silver lab on a walk and a man with his kids were out of their garage and asked me if my dog was a Weimaraner and I said no he is a silver Labrador Retriever. On just one walk, 5 people had asked me if he was a Weimaraner and now every time I take him for walks I always have someone commenting on him. As I take him on more walks and when I always bring him to the dog park more and more people ask me the same question. One person even asked me if he was a blue heeler, they were way off. The silver Labrador Retriever is not a common coat color for a Labrador Retriever. The main coat color for labs are black, chocolate, yellow, and white. Some unfamiliar coat color labs have been red fox, and charcoal. Silver Labrador Retrievers and Weimaraners have some similarities and differences. Their similarities are their coat color and how they both look like a Labrador Retriever. Their differences are their tails a silver lab has a long tail and the Weimeraner has a short docked tail, their taller than the lab, and their ears are longer then the labs
A Golden Doodle is a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. They have a personality that is smart, friendly, and tender. Golden doodle ranges from 15 to 100 pounds in
This breed was also not always labeled as the "dangerous dog" but back in time, they were heroes. This dog breed was used in homesteads during the 1800s to prevent predators from eating up livestock and worked on farms. Pitbull's were also given to children as companions to protect them from any harm and they continued to protect families and friends during WWI by standing beside soldiers as companions while protecting combatants (Reflecting on Pitbull’s…). The Pitbull’s supreme reign did not stop there but continued as the breed was labeled the “All American Dog”. The United States revered the qualities this breed has: loyalty, brave, friendly, etc. The Pitbull appeared in many posters that illustrated to the country that the Pitbull was the dog to get and even
The Lion King has always been considered a symbolic film teaching children not to dwell in the past. To demonstrate that what happens in the past does not matter, it will prevail how the person grows from it. Simba’s past was not the best, however he grew from it. His uncle Scar made him think that he killed his own father. When he found out Simba still did the kind-hearted deed and spare his uncle's life.
My dog Kylo is a Boston Terrier and he's a little ball of energy. He'll get excited when you play with him. One day Kylo was looking at my parents wanting to play. My mom and dad were doing their own thing, so I got down to play with him. I got on my hands and knees to chase him. He jumped like he was shot when I jumped down from the couch. He stared at me for a good five seconds then charged at me. I made him run in circles for a while then he stopped running and growled, and then suddenly, running spree! He ran so fast it was like a little black and white blur going across the floor of my house. He even wall jumped off the couch! My dog is a thrill seeker!
Recently a series of natural disasters, one of these being a tragic flood, has led to the arrival of a new, unknown specie, now formally known as a Goldfinch Retriever. This new combination of half bird, half dog was able to survive the flood by creating a new home in the remaining treetops. Fellow scientists Hannah Tokarz and Jenna Pearson believe that this special breed of bird originally feasted on meat, but lacked advanced flying skills. Those who had the stronger ability to fly survived the weathers circumstances and then reproduced with other strong flying birds. These eventually weeded out the birds of weaker flying skills with only the strongest flying birds remaining. This species of bird dog has been given the name Goldfinch Retriever
It is hard to believe that the gentle Boston Terrier that we see today was once bread for as a pit-fighting dog. It is very difficult to comprehend that these friendly little dogs were once fierce pit fighters. Boston Terriers resembles the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, which possesses a strong fighting instinct. Today's Boston Terriers in no way resemble the fighter it once was known to be.
The physical traits of a Golden retriever are a long muzzle, long legs, long fur, sheds a lot, long ears, and long tail. So if someone wanted a dog with a long tail that wags and they don’t mind grooming your dog to help stop the shedding then the Golden retriever is the dog just for their liking. The Boxer is more playful than the Golden retriever and more adventurous than the Golden retriever, while the Golden retriever is playful but overall it is more athletically built than a Boxer is. The Golden retriever can beat the Boxer in almost anything athletically, but when it comes to cuddling the Boxer wins that by a landslide.
Pugs are one of the oldest breeds of dogs, dating back prior to 400 BC. It was the pet of the Buddhist Monestaries in Tibet, and was a favorite dog of the Royalty in Europe according to the AKC.
It is better to understand the breed and where they come from before making assumptions about the type of animal they are. The Europeans wanted a stout muscular breed that had feistiness to it that they could use for baiting or rat fights (pitbull411.com). Yes, it is true that the breed started off as a fighting dog that was used to bait bulls that were uncontrollable by their owners. But when Europeans migrated to the United States they brought their dogs with them and the breed took on a new job. Although in present times the breed has been adopted by gangs for the use of fighting other dogs for monies and the protection of their owners, the
Devotion is a word that is usually associated with nuns, the way they completely live their life for one single purpose. The friendly neighborhood Golden Retriever also lives his life in a deeply devoted way to serve and protect his family, the way the nun serves her god. Devotion can be described as zealous or ardent in attachment, loyalty, or affection. Devotion also describes me and the way I live my life. But unlike the nun or the Golden Retriever, I live my life devoted to almost everything around me, and it is a double edged personality trait. On one hand, you see promise and the good traits in the people and opportunities around you. You want to help and see these people and things thrive, grow, and succeed. From the second you meet
Did you know Goldendoodles are a relatively new dog breed? They first appeared in North America and Australia in the 1990s after breeders realized a larger poodle hybrid would appeal to people who wanted a bigger hypoallergenic dog.
Labrador retrievers are one of the most popular pets in the United States, but not always for the right reasons. Many times people will get a lab hoping it will fulfill their dreams without even considering the pros and cons. Labs are typically very loveable, and energetic, but they can also be very detrimental.
