In the era of hot takes, comment sections and social media outbursts being used as methods to gain attention, I can say from the bottom of my heart that none of those are the reasons I present my against the grain opinion of the Golden State Warriors. If I’m about to come off as a bitter Cleveland Cavaliers fan (I am), then so be it. I’m not so blinded by my love for Cleveland sports teams that I can’t admit: The Golden State Warriors are the best team in the NBA right now. That doesn’t mean I can’t hate them unconditionally. Despite winning the NBA Finals in June, the Warriors have made it known their primary motivation this season is derived from their doubters. It became abundantly clear that I hated the Warriors more than Merril Hoge hates Johnny Manziel. Because Steph Curry and Klay Thompson (not the entire Warriors team) are fun to watch, I think Golden State is getting a hate pass. Is a hate pass a thing? A little more than a week ago, the Milwaukee Bucks snapped Golden State’s 28-game regular season win streak. As I basked in the tiny moral victory, during a regular season in which the Cavs could finish .500 and I wouldn’t care as long as they were healthy, the Warriors whined like school children during a middle school recess touch football game after the loss. The Warriors were upset with the Bucks’ celebration after Milwaukee ended Golden State’s record streak. Boohoo. The Warriors want to talk about winning with grace? Try losing with grace. Regarding Curry, I’ve never done a 180-degree turn on a player like I have with Steph Curry. Davidson Steph Curry — I loved that guy. He was an underdog and someone I could root for. His play in two consecutive NCAA Tournaments was some of the most fun I’ve had watching sports. Today, Curry is too mainstream, being billed as a cultural phenomenon. His pregame routine seems to receive more public attention than the games he plays
